Great family break. We loved it. Food & room faultless. And great offer including cream tea, evening meal, room & breakfast.
We stay at The Mill Hotel frequently throughout the year as a base to meet and visit Family. Yesterday we had a superb afternoon tea, fabulous dinner and a great breakfast this morning. Highly recommended ! Also to mention a great nights sleep in a lovely room !
Today, we came for brunch and were not disappointed. The food served was fantastic. The quality, portion, presentation was faultless. Wonderful value for money. Service by the staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Perfect way to start our day.
We came here for breakfast and enjoyed it. Didn't stay so can't say what the rooms are like. The food was very nice, eggs done well and a little different eggs royale with crumpets was a nice twist. Staff very friendly and service was great. Location is the best thing about this place. It was sunny today so sat on the terrace and overlooking the fields was very nice setting. Definitely recommend here for anyone passing and I'll be back for more visits too.
Our room was small the bathroom extremely small but we only booked the day before. When we book next time we will request a room overlooking the meadow, which is beautiful.
Great location for super walks
Ideal location for Sudbury shops, just a 10 minute walk. Beautiful scenery surrounding the hotel itself. Breakfast was buffet style with hot, fresh food and plentiful. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was spot on with super comfy bed. All in all a great overnight stay.
Nice location, pleasant hotel. Service could have been better in the restaurant- we were kept waiting at least half an hour for our order to be taken. Breakfast was a bit of a fiasco, they ran out of plates, cups, croissants, bacon, mushrooms, you name it, and we're slow to respond. The people at reception were lovely and very helpful.
We had a good deal on an offer so we were reasonably happy despite the breakfast saga.
Mill House in Sudbury, Suffolk. Nice meal, 2 courses for £15. Very good value, as food was nicely cooked and seemed to be home made. You cannot use App for deals, only main menu. We chose to eat in bar area, but there is also a very nice restaurant too.
Stayed at the mill 2 times in the past very nice it was .we went for lunch today had the all day breakfast it was lovely. The staff are very friendly and as always at the mill the food was lovely too that's why the 5 stars were given. Overall a lovely experience.
Situated on the edge of town alongside the millpond, The Mill has nice views over the river and across open meadows.
Reception, the Restaurant and Bar are all located in the main building with a few bedrooms in the upper floors. There is also a Terrace on the first floor above the bar, which can be annoying if you get the room that looks out onto it at ankle height.
The rest of the rooms are either in an adjoining block that runs between the river and a 'service' road, or in a separate block over the road by the car park, called 'the cottage'.
We were in a room in the cottage and it was a decent size with plenty of room to spread out if you've got a bit of luggage. The water pressure is pretty low though and there is quite a bit of noise from early morning in the service road.
Rooms weren't being serviced during our stay, but reception were happy to provide extra tea, coffee, milk, etc, or replacement towels if you needed them.
There's a good selection of food at breakfast, with cereals, fruit juices, fruit, yoghurt, breads and a hot selection sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, etc. If you would like your eggs cooked differently you just need to ask and they will be done fresh for you.
The evening menu is the same in both the restaurant and bar, so you can choose where you'd like to dine, however they prefer you to reserve a table if you would like to dine in the restaurant. The meals we had there were excellent. If you prefer to eat elsewhere, the town is only 10 mins walk away.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would look to visit again in the future.
The first room we were given was around the corner in the street by the car park. It was noisy with no double glazing. When we asked to change rooms the staff were very helpful and gave us a quiet room overlooking the river which was lovely. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and the staff very helpful. Would go again.
We only went for midweek coffee but the welcome at Reception was very friendly, service at the bar was polite and the glass-encased waterwheel, inside the venue, amazing!
This is only a limited review of coffee (on a rainy afternoon) but I highly recommend you doing the same and, likely as not, enjoying it as much as we did.
