Stopped by for lunch on New Year’s Day. Didn’t have a booking but was a table available which was good. Had small carvery.
The service was good, friendly staff and calm considering was quite busy. The carvery was good although the beef was a little dry and the roast potatoes weren’t crispy. Still for £10 pp was reasonable and satisfying.
The pub has a nice homely feel, comfortable seating and atmosphere. There is a nice outdoor seating area that would be good in better weather.
Went on a Sunday afternoon, so this review takes that into consideration. It is a family pub and, as such, is very good. It's not so great if you are a couple on a Sunday. As it has a Carvery people can fill their plates as high as they wish. The family next to us did this and left most of it. It was not very nice to see, but I suppose none of my business really.
It was very busy and as such the service wasn't bad. We ordered by using the app, so we had a little wait for drinks.
Good value, though, and I enjoyed my rump steak. Partner had pie, most of which he enjoyed, but some of the pastry was a bit soggy.
Overall, I would go again, may be not on a Sunday.
Lovely staff.
All 3 of us had carvery (2 medium and 1 kids), this was nice but could have been tonnes better. Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were amazing though. What could have improved it would have been roasted parsnips and broccoli as a choice. But that’s personal preference.
The only reason there isn’t 5 stars is that I feel like it’s ready for re decoration. Wouldn’t stop us returning though.
