Called in for a spot of lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of food and at a great price 2 main meals for under £12 plus drinks just over £15 in total the staff were super friendly and helpful and curtious
We quite often enjoy visiting Walnut tree. It has good price and delicious foods. And has indoor play area for the kids which on peak days it might be busy and worthy to book-in in advance. Also has a place to sit and watch games on tv and enjoy the views through the windows.
We prefer to dine at the restaurant and later go to the play area. You have an option to order and dine at the play area but from our experience... kids focus on going to play and barely sat to eat and food presentation is different and would say smaller portions? And in ocasions something missing on your plate.
We had very small steak served and gammon not the same as it used to be before but still..watermouthy delicious foods.
Great food at a great price with friendly staff and quick service.
This place used to be heaving.
Not so much the time we visited for Sunday lunch.
The food was not amazing but OK.
The reason for the 4 stars, well the staff that had turned in were amazing. They worked hard and were very helpful. With a large group of us the 2 guys that were serving us and bringing out food were amazing. When food was missing from our food they sorted it out swiftly and apologetically.
It was obvious they had been left short staffed as we were told we couldn't eat in the play center due to not having enough staff in to be able to do this. This actually meant we didn't actually get the little one into the play center as after food she just didn't fancy it.
However, our experience wasn't bad. And I can't knock the place for having a bad day.
Food still came out quickly. It was hot and as before mentioned the service from the guys at the helm and having to face us customers were on it.
Hopefully when we return i can give it those 5 stars??
We had been out for the day as a family of 5 and detoured to find the closest pub for some food. We ended up here and we were not disappointed. There was something for everyone and our plates were all cleared! The staff were friendly, we didn't have to wait long, the kids were given colouring and quiz placemats to draw on, and over all the place was clean and tidy and inviting. We would certainly return if we happen to be in the area again. Great family friendly pub
First time here and the food was lovely. My fish was a tad overdone as it was very, very crunchy but the rest of my meal was great. My daughter had the chicken, chips and coleslaw. She said it was amazing with bbq sauce which was dripping over the chicken. Lots of sauce for a change which was enough to dip the chips in too. We attended on a Thursday so we picked the "Free dessert" option. We were amazed on how thick the piece of cake was served! We couldn't eat it all. It was a nice meal after a long 5 hour drive in a car. Thank you
My 1st time here and safe to say I'll be back, firstly I can recommend the fish finger baguette and cheesy chips as well as the sticky toffee and bourbon pudding!!! Also nice to go to a place that has a decent selection of alcohol free drinks!!!!
Loving your work, continue 🤘😁🤘
We popped in as a group on a Sunday, the person seating us didn't seem overly pleased to see more customers but thankfully that was the only bit of negativity. Food arrived on time and was good, and kids polished off their fish fingers and chips and got to play on the outside playground.
The pub is not the tidiest, but then again we did visit early afternoon on a Sunday...! The outside could also do with a lick of paint.
Lots of options on the menu and a few offers to be had if you come on a particular day and fancy a particular dish.
Overall a good experience, would certainly visit again (especially if we have kids in tow!)
NOTE: We were very hungry so whilst I took a picture of some halloumi fries I did forget to take a picture of main meal - as mentioned above, kids had fish fingers and chips, which they finished. Wife had the chicken kebab which she struggled to finish and I had the Sunday special burger which came with roast potato's and gravy! (Mine was nice but I could have done with a bit more gravy!)
I took my family to the walnut tree mainly for the kids soft play area. It's a great play area with 3 levels to it, slides, ball pools and more. My son loves it and for £5ish it keeps him happy and relatively quiet while waiting for food.
Aside from that we ordered food on the app to the table which is very convenient in my opinion. The food arrived and while it's good it's not great. I was happy with my meal, wished there was a bit more choice on the menu but I am a picky eater.
Gave us a picture of Nicholas cage as requested and even laminated it. Food was so good it was gone in 60 seconds. This place is a real National treasure.
