Stayed here for 3 nights for a birthday booze up in whitby.. Brilliant location.. right in the centre and surrounded by pubs and restaurants.. Rooms are very good, you have to be careful walking around as this place is very old and the floors uneven..which is all part of the charm. The staff are all really friendly and the landlady smiles.. always a plus. Even the small "tapas" menu is good. A couple of points to add balance.. there is no parking as this really is in the centre, however parking is 200 yards away and 8 english pounds for 24 hours which is ok.. and its a tad noisy, not at night but early in tbe morning as all the business's take deliverys.. Would we stay again? Yep and whitby is a great town to visit.. :)

Had the raspberry gin cocktail and the whole family tried some and wanted my drink! Converted them to the gin life in one cocktail! Reasonably priced for a cocktail and 3 pints at £17, and had a lively atmosphere. It's a small pub so everybody talks to everyone- the bar staff spoke to us as soon as we walked in and even after they'd finished closing the bar haha. Will come again!!

Great Real Ale pub - a good GBG stop. 4 Real Ale hand pumps (3 on on the day we visited) and 2 real cider. (Don't be deceived when you first walk in, there is a second bar in the back room). The beers we had were lovely and in great condition. We spent a while in the front bar and had a lovely long chat with the locals, one of which ended up being the Landlady who was very friendly. Will definitely visit again on our next trip to Whitby.

Can't believe we've walked past this lovely little pub so many times and not noticed it....!! It's a very busy walkway though, which may explain it. So glad we discovered it now. A proper, old-fashioned pub, just as it should be. Great beer selection, lovely staff and service, and fantastic Yorkshire Tapas with absolutely delicious charcuterie to die for. Well worth a visit, and thoroughly recommended 👌

I highly recommend the Black Horse to anybody who wants to stay in Whitby. The staff always deliver a high standard of professionalism and will go above and beyond to make your stay worth every penny. The Black Horse has a very good selection of alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks with a diverse choice of pub food and bar snacks. Perfectly located in the centre of the old side of Whitby with short walk to the 199 steps and Whitby Abbey and the Harbour. Once you have stayed at the Black Horse it will be your first choice for accommodation in Whitby.

We called in for a drink and were so pleased. It's tiny but great. The menu looked fantastic but we had already eaten! Lots of gins and beers. Staff were friendly and happy.

A great little pub off of the cobbled streets of Whitby. Had a pint of Old Peculiar which was anything but peculiar! Absolutely stellar pint. Bar staff are chatty and pleasant to talk to, especially to a first time Whitby visitor. Absolutely recommend.

Love this place. I decided to visit after seeing a disparaging review from someone. Let's be clear. It's not the biggest pub in Whitby but it's not the smallest. It does however have character. The staf are friendly, the beer is good and the atmosphere is great. I will.drink here regularly if the rules shown are kept up with. Why wouldn't you? Come here and spend your money. I will.

Excellent Ale, with a good selection, well kept. Friendly and welcoming bar service. A proper, traditional pub, with no pretensions, in the heart of 'old Whitby. Can't recommended enough 👍

Wonderful stay at the Black Horse Inn. The staff are amazing, the room we stayed in was very well presented, well stocked with tea, coffee, water milk etc. Good pub meals in the bar and full selection of beers wines and spirits. Would definately stay again. Right in the middle of tge action.
