(still the) Best. In. York I'm editing my review a year on to mention the wonderful things I've eaten here and the fantastic friendly staff that are amazing It's always busy at lunch time but they never fail to smile and say hello. I always used to stick to the same sandwich - chicken bacon and coleslaw but I've now come to realise that there are so many good things on offer here it would be a shame not to try other things and it adds the review more credibility to be able to comment on more of what's on offer. That said, we all have our favourites and why mess with a good thing! This week I got in late but they were still happy to serve me and I ended up having a meat feast baguette which was amazing - sausage, pulled pork, pulled chicken and delicious ham. My favourite as of late has been pulled pork, its lovely and tender, flavourful and plenty of it too. All of the food is home cooked and you can really tell the quality of it. A fantastic sandwich shop, great value for money and still my favourite.

Bit of a gem this one, great sandwiches, jacket potatoes and salad bar. Very friendly staff, and I honestly don't know how they do it at the price. Full breakfast in a bun for £2.80! What's not to like

A great place to grab a quick lunch. Warning: you will have to use plastic cutlery and eat from a polystyrene foam box. I have an impression that mostly local people go there, so it has plenty regular customers, however I personally find it a hidden gem of the York streets. This might be primarily because I LOVE jacket potatoes, but still, they have good potatoes. I wouldn't go wild with the flavours - chicken madras with salad was not the best choice, but I bet their tuna mayo or baked beans jacket potato must be delicious. After all, you can't spoil a classics. Krusties is a place where I would love to go back to and test all it has to offer. Oh, I almost forgot - it serves cheap tea and coffee, and anytime you can top your dish with one of a few sauces available from the fridge in the shop (e.g. garlic sauce, vinegar, caesar dressing).

Excellent value for money and lovely tasting food, reluctant to review as I would love this little outlet to be just mine. That being said though they thoroughly deserve the credit

The only place in town of holding the accolade of best sandwich: Chicken Royale. Regular visitor since before the internet began!
