Great place stayed over at the weekend lovely staff and the food is gorgeous great hosts and the rooms were immaculate really enjoyed it will definately be back �

Fabulous Sunday lunch. Huge Yorkshire pudding, and a nice variety of veg and potatoes. Generous portion of meat. We did the 2 course deal which meant pudding was only £3. All in all, good food, good service and good value. Would definitely go back.
Lovely, and I mean lovely, food !!! Great staff. Nice limited range of beers and largers. Seating inside and out. Live sport on tv, not for us but the rugby crowd who were in were absorbed by it, and well behaved, as rugby followers generally are. If you're in the area and hungry then this IS the place for you. They have a great chef !
Stumbled upon this highly rated TripAdvisor pub and was extremely impressed. Service and food were excellent. Hubby's pie was large and heavily packed with steak and potato, it came as a slice. I had Sunday roast with beef and the Yorkshire pudding is the best I've had in years. Dinner came with 8 different veggies on the plate!
Only 2 free tables left after the majority were already booked on a Sunday. Other people were directed to an outside area but I didn't see this to add a comment.
I'd highly recommend it for Sunday lunch. Specials menu also looked excellent.
Well deserved 5 stars. The staff are so friendly . The food was amazing, I loved my delicious yorkie pud!! Great service. Well located and easy to find. Didn't stay but I'm sure the rooms are lovely. Really appreciated the vegetarian option.
Had a very tasty pub grub dinner on the garden terrace. Very pleasant and attentive staff, swift service and very reasonable prices for pie & chips / sausage/mash. Bit loud with a group of after-work expletive uttering drinkers sitting close-by but not much the pub staff can do about that. Would return again and recommend. Thanks very much.
Great bar with even better food. Called in for a drink as we were passing decided to eat there that night. The food was absolutely fabulous couldn't fault it. Then decided to have Sunday lunch which was even better. To add to the experience all the bar staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on accommodation
It was a blast from the past, not been in for a few years. Popped in yesterday for a drink and food and hospitality was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the chefs special mixed meat platter, we will start visiting more often.
Didn't have food or stay over but popped in here as we were staying at a nearby hotel. Girl who served us was lovely. We sat outside next to the lock which was beautiful and peaceful. Beer garden is quaint and cosy. Inside the pub is quirky and clean but there were no customers in other than my husband and I.
Discovered by accident on a weekend away in York. They are the Sunday Lunch Kings. Super service, very friendly, and serving traditional lunch with an astoundingly good Yorkshire pudding and beautifully cooked vegetables. The icing on the carrot: they don't follow the latest trend of putting a whole root on a plate or mushing them to a pulp: they still chop their carrots up the good, old fashioned way. Excellent venue.
Really good food and excellent service. They were so careful about allergens, had a lot of gluten free options for my companions and the service was top notch. I would definitely go back
