Delicious, no nonsense, pub-grub style food, served in takeaway boxes with wooden cutlery...(both for taking away or eating in). Really good quality fish, served with proper, fresh cut potato chips, mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a wedge of lemon. My wife had one or their pies, a proper pie, the sort with a full shortcrust pastry case, and not one that's just a bit of puff pastry plonked on top of some stew. The surroundings are simple, rustic even...(it's called The Driftwood, after all)...and the beer is served in plastic beakers. But boy, the food is very good, the service is quick, and it's the best value lunch we've had during our stay here in The Lakes. It definitely gets my unreserved recommendation.
A nice spot to stop for fish & chips.
After a little wait I had fish, chips, mushy peas and tarter sauce. Delicious and friendly service, will definitely coming back again next time we visit.
Family of 5 were looking for somewhere to eat after a day of sight seeing.
Found this place, after walking out of somewhere else down the road.
We were greeted at the front, given instructions and told where to sit!
We had 3 kids meals with a bottle of coke and 2 adults fish and chips with alcoholic drinks for less than £60!
A little wait (15-20 mins tops) and out food was ready. You have to get up and collect your order, but staff were on hand to help up with our 'mega order'. All meals boxed individually. Wooden cutlery provided and you just chuck it all away when you've finished. Easy.
The fish was great, best chippy chips I've had in ages (should have ordered more. Not because there wasn't enough - there was - I just couldn't get enough!)
To sum up - good, honest food nice location overlooking the lake, friendly staff and a great dinning experience for a quick, easy fill!
We will definitely be back!
A straight forward and very effective setup - basically, takeaway fish and chips, but with an option to use their undercover tables.
Fish was excellent and chips really tasty.
We loved how friendly the waitress was - suggesting a table that would work best for our group (there are sone saved for families with prams) and she talked through the menu with obvious pride in the food.
Driftwood is a culinary paradise nestled in the picturesque Lake District. Their fish and chips are an absolute delight, boasting crispy golden batter and succulent fish. The menu also showcases a heavenly selection of ice cream flavors, perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth. The warm hospitality and breathtaking views create an unforgettable dining experience. A must-visit destination for foodies and nature lovers alike.
We got to Bowness at about 5 minutes to closing time for the fish and chip takeaway kiosk, with a starving hungry “could eat a horse” 6 year old in tow. First thing after we came out the car park? Fish and chips. Completely impulse purchase, all absolutely loved it. First time I’ve had takeaway fish and chips that came with lemon, tartare sauce, and peas as standard, and it was delicious. Will definitely be coming back!
Been twice in 4 days, once for takeaway and once sitting inside. Food was amazing both times, lovely to sit outside in the warmth when raining. Only down side is having to que outside in the rain (4 people in front) but this didn't ruin my experience

We got fish and chips to takeaway and eat by the lake the other evening. Service was friendly and food was freshly cooked to order. Fish was perfectly cooked and we really enjoyed it.
Went here over the weekend and it was bouncing it down. We ordered and whilst we waited under the canopy amongst the trees were sat at a table covers from the rain. Each table has its own heater. Just need to work on the flooring and you've smashed it .
Great fish and chips, tastes great, well presented and easy to eat, plenty of space to eat under shelter or across the road on the green. Not greasy at all, would recommend for all the family!
