Hopefully a balanced review. Light, non greasy food cooked in FRESH oil - I have eaten in other restaurants where the deep fried items are ruined by old oil. The food arrived hot. I don't live far away and my address is easy to find. If you live in a flat with multiple inhabitants and a bell that doesn't work, have your phone on silent, or can't hear it ring, food WILL be cold. The staff said an hour but it arrived in 20mins. I think they say that to give themselves wriggle room. The food was delicious apart from the Mongolian lamb which tasted good but was too dry for me. My friend tucked in to the lamb and pancakes with gusto, so it's personal taste. The fried items were very tasty and quite crisp. I never expect food that has been fried and put in container with a lid to be perfectly crisp. Food will, yes, sounds horrible, sweat in a box with a lid. It's called evaporation and condensation. The steam hits the lid and drips back down leading to a sadder soggier affair. If you want perfection, eat in. Although by other reviews the interior doesn't sound like much fun; I would give eating in a try at some point as my experience of the food was very positive. The sweet and sour sauce was perfectly balanced with the right amount of sour. The noodles light; a very generous portion packed into the tub. The crispy chilli beef was excellent. It was cheap, delicious and really good value for money. I am very glad to have found this restaurant. Next time I will pick the Sichuan items as I love the flavour of the peppery heat.

My husband & I had a memorable dinner here two nights ago. The meal was as superbly authentic as any in Chengdu or Beijing. We feasted on Sichuan braised grilled fish in a heavenly umami & spicy ambrosial gravy with an assortment of five sides, steamed rice with Tsingtao beer & Jasmine tea. We had more than a bowl of rice, our appetites awakened! Bob was wondrously hospitable. We will certainly be back on our next visit to Brighton. Would highly recommend this restaurant for proper Sichuan fare served with heart.

Food was so tasty and made me feel at home in Brighton. Rice, mapo tofu, the pork were so delicious. We were 5 and we ordered 4 rice portions, then the 5th person wanted rice. The waiter was so nice and only charged us 4 portions of rice + free refill! For 5 people and a delicious meal, £51 is a treat! Will definitely come back!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. There were certainly a couple of dishes like weren't quite to my taste such as the sweet and sour pork. However in general I went away full and feeling I paid a reasonable price. Would recommend.

Basic dining area and service BUT OH SUCH GOOD FLAVOURS! We ordered a garlic veggies dish and another veggie dish with potato and aubergine, these arrived first and were extremely tasty. Following that Old Friend Noodle Soup arrived , we were warned that it smells "not great", but like a good cheese once you start eating the smell was replaced by a rich umami background to a spicy soup. In the soup were Rice noodles and Bamboo (the source of the funky whiff) fresh Chilli and some mince meat. Not to expensive, £30 for both our meals and 2 beers total! LOVE IT. I've been to China and this taste is Authentic and brought back lots of memories of that fantastic experience.

Visited this place twice within a few days because the vegan & vegetarian options were so good. Food is the highlight here, as although the staff were friendly and helpful, it has more of a cafe than a restaurant feel. Try the beancurd skin and peppers, the mock duck pancakes - both were sublime.

Really enjoyed my stay there several days ago. Large variety of food/drink options, all served pretty fast by friendly staff. Portions more than satisfying! I wasn't very familiar with the menu and was offered rice as a side to complement my main part of meal. Super helpful, many thanks!
