Fantastic little public house,we had a well cooked and presented meal ,very enjoyable,must say staff were very helpful,we thought a lot of work had been put in to this free house,full of character and charm ,Tolets were exceptionaly clean ,and somewhere we will be visiting again,after walking our doggies at Great Notley Park ,as we were very pleased it was doggie friendly ,and able to bring doggies in with us ,as we came from Colchester,and there are not many public houses ,in our area ,that are so acomadating and friendly ,and such a warm welcome,cannot recommend The Rose and Crown enuf .thank you Linda kingstone,from Stanway Nr Colchester 🐾🐶🍹🍺☕️🥃
I've been several times now and it's always a delight! Amazing food, love the seafood risotto and seabass fillets. I come from Ipswich, distance is no issue as the pub, food & service is just fantastic.

I had the Cajun Chicken salad, my partner had Pie of the day with chips & not forgetting my little one with the best Chicken nuggets & chips.
The atmosphere is lovely, so relaxed and what makes this place very special is not just the wonderful food but all the Staff, omg they are truly amazing, it feels like your walking in to a big family from the time you arrive till the time.e you leave.

Popped in for a drink and an impromptu lunch after a dog walk. Food was A*, really friendly service and dog friendly, will definitely be back!
This is a fabulous pub. Just a bit too far for us to use as a local. Lovely in the summer and great food. Winter seats can be hard to find at the weekend .
Went here for some lunch with my brother and a friend the food was excellent. I fancied a plough man's they didn't have it on the menu that day but still done one for me and it was lovely staff were very friendly and the service was great. well done the rose and crown. Will defo be back
Great food nice atmosphere lovely staff no rush to get table once eaten would say that if hadn't been for the seating outside wouldn't have stayed as long as the dining chairs were extremely uncomfortable.
First visit in many years. Enjoyed a very relaxing lunch on the covered terrace. Food was excellent and the chilled sauvignon blanc was just what the doctor ordered for such a hot afternoon. Service was very quick and friendly. Looking forward to my next visit already.
