A real hidden gem in Leith. Just dropped in for coffee and some takeaway cakes and was not disappointed. The homemade vanilla cheesecake and banana and chocolate loaf was first class. Really good coffee too. Can’t wait to go back and try out more of the menu. Lovely, friendly team behind the counter too. Keep up the good work!

We happened to be passing around (late) lunch time, had a quick check online and saw good reviews, so gave it a go. Definitely a good idea! The food was excellent, reasonably priced, and the service friendly. The cakes looked amazing, will have to try next time.

This place we found through Google reviews. All the reviews were true. My wife wanted gluten free breakfast and we called and inquired about it before we went there. It was a nice , cozy , pleasant place. The lady who was there welcomed us warmly and suggested a nice coffee for my wife which she really liked. Food was really good as well as the prizes. Definitely recommend and going back again. The gluten free almond cake was top notch.

For almost a decade, we have been proud supporters of this delightful couple, accompanying them on their journey throughout Edinburgh. Ana's warm and welcoming nature makes us feel right at home, while her partner in crime, Mickael, never fails to create delicious dishes, especially his renowned Almond cake, which is simply the best in Edinburgh. Even our little dog receives a warm welcome and a treat, adding to the overall charm of this place. It is truly a rare gem to come across a cafe that exudes a strong sense of community and offers affordable prices. Without a doubt, we will continue to support this wonderful institution for many years to come.

absolutely stunning, this. just what i needed! the coffee was the nicest americano i've had in a long time (& served in a proper mug...!), & the morning roll was every bit as good as it looked. lovely friendly staff as well - feels like they have a lot of regulars, which makes a great atmosphere. also, some great leith-inspired artwork by lucy carter on the wall.

Always five star food and service. - I often come for takeaway, which means picking up a special sweet too.

Hidden gem in the middle of an industrial estate, lovely community vibe. Had lunch twice here when working in the area. Cullen skink particularly comforting on a dreary drizzly day.

I stopped off here last week as it appeared to be a hidden gem based on the reviews. Firstly it’s great that it’s free street parking outside. The cafe is very well decorated from the outside with nice artwork. Open entering I was greeted by a lovely lady. She was incredibly welcoming and upbeat. They provide breakfasts and lunches both hot and cold, as well as sweet treats, savoury snacks and drinks. In fact, they provide a great selection. You can takeaway or sit in as they ample tables and chairs. I was just popping by so I wanted to get something to takeaway. The lady was extremely delightful and helped me in choosing from the menu. I’ve never heard of a croque (she explained nicely what it was) so I went with the croque salmon. I also went with a sausage roll because they looked very appealing. I picked up a pastrami ciabatta for my wife. Obviously, I had to get a few sweet treats. I ended up going with a cinnamon swirl with icing, lemon meringue loaf and a chocolate chip banana bread. I had the salmon croque first which was very nice. I don’t think I’ve had salmon and cheese together before but they complemented themselves quite well. The croque is basically like a cheese toastie with cheese on the outside and it cooked in the oven. Next I had the sausage roll which was also good. The pastry was crisp on the outside but softer in the middle. I am not sure what sausage it was but it was quite nice. Although I did notice that it was a little cold in the middle so maybe could have done a little longer in the oven. The cinnamon swirl was ok. The pastry seemed a little stale. The flavour was fine but I’ve certainly had better. Both the lemon meringue and the banana bread were very good which we both enjoyed. My wife also liked her ciabatta. Overall, I am glad I visited. I wasn’t blown away by the food (hence the 4 stars) but it’s still good reliable scran at a reasonable price. I would love to come back and sit in and have a cooked breakfast because they look fab! I love how everything is freshly made and it’s a open kitchen so you see everything. It’s the service that makes this place excel. I haven’t been to many places were you are treated so nicely. You get a homely feel whilst here. I get the impression that they have their regulars and the staff build relationships with their customers which is lovely to see. I will be back.

We had a delicious breakfast at Cocorico. We probably would have missed it had we not been to Campervan for a beer (kinda off the beaten path, but only because it's located on a less traveled road). I had the veggie breakfast (veggie haggis was hidden in the pic, but really good), my husband had the morning roll with sausage and egg. Everything was extremely fairly priced, well-seasoned, and tasty. The indoor seating is plentiful and bright. The owner was very friendly as well. We'd make a weekly trip here if we lived in the area!
