First visit to this gem of a pub & definitely won’t be the last. Great good, lovely people & dog friendly 🐶. Highly recommend a visit 👍🏼
The Dukes Head in Somerlyton provided the perfect setting for our book club meeting. The candlelit ambiance added a cozy touch, enhancing our discussions. The cocktails were truly amazing, each crafted with care, and the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The staff was attentive and friendly, making our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, The Dukes Head exceeded our expectations, offering a delightful evening of literary conversation, delectable drinks, and gourmet cuisine. Highly recommended for any gathering or casual night out.
Went there for 2 dinners while staying in the area. Lovely staff, really good food. Compliments to the kitchen. Quite quiet when we were there, but there's a big beer garden, so I would think it gets well busy in good weather!
Visited as a family of 6 after looking through many choices on Google, it caught my eye as the food looked freshly made from scratch so I called and they confirmed that it is. Husband and I had a burger and chips with some green leafy salad, the meat was really good quality, huge and filling however my husband said the burger sauce was too rich but I liked it. The chips are triple cooked, they are nice but not enough of them as you only get a very small pot. Children had sausages, one with mash, one with chips. They switched one peas for carrots and it all looked very well presented
The staff were friendly and we were seated quickly on a nice big wooden table looking out at the garden, pretty candle and little touches that I like
They made the drinks that I requested and nothing was too much trouble. The location is in a lovely semi rural area, with a big private car park
We didn't have dessert as we were really full from the main. They also have a nice looking specials board
Went in on the off chance as we were passing, not sure if they took dogs but was accommodated by the lovely lady behind the bar. food was exceptional, a little more pricy than other pubs but well worth the extra trust me. Service was spot on and the food was beautifully cooked and to top it off they had some ukulele players in the bar area. would definitely visit again when in the area.
Me, my partner and our dog came here new year's day for a couple of drinks. Such a lovely warming, friendly country pub! The staff are so friendly, they take the time to have a little chat with you! Our little dog loved it so much, she was sitting with her paw on the bar!
We will be back for food :)
Had a great evening at the DukesHead with the family, celebrating my granddaughters birthday. The food was very good, the service was excellent. The pub was full, mostly families enjoying great food in a great atmosphere. If you want somewhere different to go,the Dukes Head is a great place to visit.
Fabulous food - excellent help on dietary advice
Great little pub in a nice area. Staff are always friendly and the pub is tucked away so it’s peaceful - fantastic in the summer and not too far to the train station.
Last night was our first visit and it certainly won’t be our last. The menu is big enough to be well balanced but not so big that one starts to worry about ’ping’ cuisine! We had Mackerel fillets and smoked haddock chowder to start followed by the Rib-eye steak and chicken supreme. No room for puddings! All of the elements of the meal were perfectly executed- faultless. The wine list is excellent. Can’t wait to return.
Outside is the peaceful vibe in East Anglia! Food has exceptional nutritional value! Only lacking pool table & dart board to make the complete package!
