I tried the Moolin Rouge pie, British beef steak with bacon and red wine. Very tasty with a deep flavour. The mash potato is nice and smooth and the accompanying gravy very pleasant.
Many different options including vegetarian and vegan available on the menu.
Very reasonably priced, especially the midweek lunch special. Pie, side and soft drink for £10.

Came here for lunch on Sunday, not too busy right when they opened. I ordered the Moo pie which has British Beef Steak and craft Ale. I don't really eat meat pies too often but it was great, flaky crust, tender beef. The gravy was a must to put on, it had great flavor. There were so many interesting flavors, I wish I could try mroe of them in the future.

This place is fantastic! The staff are warm and welcoming, there are a great variety of pies and sides with the beef pies and mash potatoes standing out for me. Really good value for money too, a must visit when in Manchester!

Very accommodating, friendly and helpful. Good start to a good night. Tasty and filling...
Solo traveller rating: Even though my last visit was with a group of 8, I'd be happy to dine here on my own.

The gluten free pie was delicious and quite filling. One of May favorite places in Manchester so far.

The best Pie and mash I’ve ever eaten!
I’m very fussy when it comes to food and so, when visiting Manchester for Pride, decided to have a bit of traditional cuisine. After a little search this place came up and so myself and Mother went in for lunch. The premise of the menu is simple and effective. A reasonable selection of pies, additions and extras plus a combo option, which is what we went for. The wait time was very small and presentation and portion size, perfect. Now the taste….OMFG. If I could die and return as a ghost to a moment in time forever, it would be tasting this pie (sorry kids) the Mash, sweet minted peas, cheese and gravy were BANGING! And like a crack head, I’m already thinking of my next fix. I may just need to visit Manchester for this place alone. Whatever you guys have done, please may it long continue as I am very much a fan!

One of the best pie I have ever had. You can also have a gluten free pie. The service was excellent too, very friendly.

Cute little place to eat, good for solo and group dining.
Clean and friendly staff who asked about any food allergies to make recommendations.
It's expensive for saying it's just pie 🥧, mash and gravy but it worth it.
I had the Heidi pie which was full of the filling with mash and gravy that is of perfect consistency.
I had pork scratchings for a starter while my pie was being cooked. They are a good size portion and very yummy.

A fantastic lunch or dinner time dining experience that does one simple dish incredibly well - pies!
I've eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad meal.
It is relatively inexpensive and they do a good range of unconventional ciders.
Staff are thoroughly pleasant. They have a bit of a rush from around 12.30 to 5.30. 👍

The menu has a wide range of pies to choose from and you can either order the pie by itself that comes with gravy or pie with 2 sides. The sides weren't appealing to me: they were all carbs or too heavy to go with the pie. I ordered Kate & Sidney pie (British beef steak, kidney and ale) for £6.25. Portion was good at a reasonable price and there was adequate filling not just sauce. It wasn't really that hot (in temperature) even though they were kept warm at the counter. The staff were friendly though.
It is a good place to stop by for lunch.

First time visit, and absolutely blown away! Had mothership free ranger and was amazing. Great pie, good mash and mushy peas, and the gravy just topped it all off. The place was very busy with both dine in and take away, and our 15-20 minute wait on a busy Saturday afternoon was more than made up by the great food, and friendly and professional staff, thank you!

The pies were delicious and the prices are okay 🤗 The place is quite small and you haven't got much space, but it's comfortable 👍🏼 Would recommend!!

First time to Manchester and we were looking for somewhere close to City Apartments, Church Street to eat. Came across this place and so pleased we weren't put off by a few couples infront of us waiting to be seated. We were given a table very quickly by the friendly, super efficient staff.

We shared the pigs in blankets to start with and ordered 2 different pies to halve and share. Absolutely delicious. Thin, crispy pastry with plenty of filling and gravy to accompany them.

Great value for money. The whole lot plus a bottle of wine was £37.

Absolutely fantastic.. love this place. Been visiting the restaurant since it opened and i has never disappointed. If you're a pie minister virgin then id suggest you try the Mothership.. its a belter!

Great Pies!

You wouldn’t go wrong trying the pies here! Both my friend n I agreed that the beef pie was better. Unique different sauces to pour over the pies. The side dish of salad was alright. Nice, warm n crispy crusted! Yummy!

It’s 3.5/5 for me!
Staff is really nice. Location, ambience quite good for the money. Unfortunately, the gravy is not tasty. Might rather have my pie just by itself. £5 for just the pie? Fine taste-wise. Also, it’s sort of filling enough to the point where you want more but you should not eat more.
Would I recommend? I guess so, for the variety.
Till then, I’ll look for a better pie place.

Came here just before a concert in mid afternoon. It was fairly busy still but the staff were quick to get a table ready. There are so many pie flavours available but I had the generously sized steak and kidney in the mothership format and with the mash, mushy peas, gravy, crispy onions and cheese, every mouthful was an explosion of flavour. I was absolutely stuffed afterwards...kept me full for hours! I can't wait to come back again to try more of their pies!!

Their chicken and mushroom pie is excellent and the gravy is out of this world. The place is really tiny though and you can almost miss it while passing by. So keep an eye out for it.

There are a lot of choices for lunch around my workplace in the Northern Quarter, but I get so busy and generally just grab a sandwich and work and munch at the same time. A bad habit that I am trying to break and focus on enjoying lunch in the future. Feeling rather more peckish than usual, I wanted a little treat, something different from sandwiches. I decided on Pieminister since it is literally about 2 minutes’ walk from work. Once inside I chose the Pietantic Fish Pie which consisted of smoked haddock, salmon, pollock and prawns with a side order of mash. As the pie was presented to me without any sauce I was worried that it would be too dry, and I didn’t fancy gravy with my fish pie. I don’t usually go for pies, but this was actually the best pie I have ever had. It was not dry as the filling was moreish, with just enough sauce so the pie wasn’t swimming in sauce, and enough bite in the chunks of fish. The pastry was perfect too, freshly made and not too thick, just how I like m

I've been a fan of Pieminister pies since first sampling the matator pie at Pi in Chorlton some years ago. (That's a lot of pies!). The heidi pie with goats cheese and sweet potato takes some beating and I really like the chicken of aragon pie too, so I was excited to try out the restaurant on Church Street in the Northern Quarter. Inside is casual. Exposed brick, school chairs, wooden tables. A few essential condiments. I chose the deerstalker pie (venison, dry cured bacon, red wine and puy lentils) and turned this into 'the mothership' with the addition of mash, peas, cheese, crispy shallots and gravy for only £7.95. I'm not sure the grated cheese was necessary but it did not detract from the overall taste and my enjoyment. Although, this was huge and I almost had a stitch when walking home afterwards! I must try Pie & Ale @ Bakerie soon too for comparison.

To begin we shared a few sausage rolls, both were tasty but for me the Mr Hot was the best. I started to imagine a sausage roll dressed as a Chippendale and couldn’t work out if this was funny or sexy.

I was the very first customer at the brand new PieMinister today, banging on the door shouting ; I need pie let me in! I know Pieminister pies very well, first I think at The Big Chill Festival years ago, then at Chorlton and Altrincham bars Pi . The inside is as you'd expect; that modern clinical slightly industrial look. Turns out they have another branch at Trentham Gardens , near my home town, so many of the staff are well experienced, although the Northern Quarter is a very different clientèle. They have a good visible position there as well, just down from the crossroads where Vinyl Exchange is, and not too far from the Arndale. I had some Gourmet Pork Scratchings with apple sauce whilst I was waiting. These were good, crunchy, not too salty and tasted proper home made. For £3 though, I'd expect a few more to be honest. I also had to drink a Fentimans Dandelion & Burdock, a perfect old school accompaniment to a pie I think. They had beer, but the choice was fairly limited

Pieminister on Church Street, on the Edge of Manchester’s Northern Quarter, over the road from Affleck’s Palace, is a pie shop that sells Pieminister pies.
