I really appreciate the lunch meal deals - something most uk restaurants can learn from. For an appetizer, main, and dessert, I feel like I’m getting a good deal for an inclusive meal. Food is delicious, im satisfied with the National dish, Pad Thai, and famous green Thai curry. My only complaint is the rather small portion. However if you’ve got a small stomach, you’ll be fine. Service was a bit slow to order, but the overall restaurant atmosphere was pleasant. Worth trying out for some nice Thai food.

Had some delicious Thai dishes here today. Pad Thai and yellow curry rice were tasty, but what awed us the most was their mixed seafood tom yum soup. The soup was fantastic, and the seafood within it was fresh and large. The atmosphere was nice, and waiters and waitresses were friendly. But it cost us half pound to pack our leftover with the box they provided.

Been here twice, both times the food and service have been great. The first time, I ordered the crispy chicken fillet with penang curry (shown in the picture), which arrived within 15 minutes - a pretty good time, since I came on a Friday at around 7pm! The second time, I came in for lunch, which had a pretty good lunch set menu of a starter and a main for £13. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is nice - I would definitely recommend this place for reasonably priced food in Chinatown, for lunch or for an evening meal!

Having read a few reviews, I was a bit sceptical about the service we would receive, but I guess you can't please everyone!
After being shown to our seats, we were asked for our drinks orders within minutes, by a happy smiley member of staff. The food order was taken promptly when we were ready, and ordering additional drinks was no problem whatsoever. The food was absolutely delicious, and thoroughly enjoyed by our fussy teenage son. I would recommend the tamarind crispy belly pork starter, as well as the jumbo king prawn chu chi curry.
An excellent evening evening, with fantastic food. I would most certainly visit again.

Service a bit slow but that is fine by me as I hate feeling rushed and want to sit down and enjoy a few drinks when I eat.
Food was the main event, ordered from the lunchtime menu and tried a few things I hadn't had before. Really enjoyed the chilli and holy basil fried rice, the coriander beef to start was great as well.
Good value, will definitely be back

It is my third time visiting this Thai restaurant. Food is good and delicious and atmosphere is always great. They have waiters looking after guests need so everything is speedy and quicky. Their prices is competitive in china town too, will certainly come next time.

Good food, nice staff, decent portion, lunch formula was amazing 😻 green curry satay chicken and pad thai were tasty.

Meal was tasty from starters to mains. Attentive staff and nothing was too much. Location is great as well as right in China town. We had the Try Thai Mango crispy Seabass - this dish is quite spicy so if spicy isn’t for you pick something else. The starter was Try Thai platter which consisted of all the items in the starter menu.

Pretty good food overall, but not exceptional, I've had better Thai food elsewhere. Were able to get a table luckily at a moment's notice.

I have a new favourite spot in Manchester! I can’t wait to go back and try the entire menu! The milk tea was delicious the pineapple fried rice to die for! I stole a few bits of the crispy pork from my boyfriend’s plate and it was so tasty! Such a good deal for weekday lunch as well with started, main and dessert for a really good price.

Chose 3 course set menu £13.50 pp. A dozen or so mains to choose from. Food was very good as was service. Sorry ate most before I took pics 🙄

Went for dinner with the kids while staying in downtown Manchester. Easy to walk to. It has an authentic Thai ambiance. They were able to seat us without much of a wait on a busy Saturday night. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food arrived quickly and the service was excellent. Enjoyed the green curry.

Had a really delightful trip here for lunch, they do a great set menu for about £13.95 a head, with a starter, main and dessert (ice-cream or coffee) having taken a trip around China town we were struggling to find somewhere and we just so happened to get a local telling us that this place did great food.
They certainly weren't wrong, for the money this was a tasty meal, traditional Thai cuisine full of flavour.
The decor was nice and felt really homely, the only letdowns were the dessert side of things, a small scoop of ice cream isn't really a dessert, there was a walls ice-cream tub on the counter, so nothing special.
The starters were really good and the mains too.
Really enjoyable.

Really good Thai restaurant! Generous portions and incredible flavours - would definitely recommend. We had the green curry with vegetables and the try Thai mango crispy sea-bass.

Try Thai has long been a staple of the China Town area of Manchester and most definitely retains its spot as one of the jewels in its crown.
There's something for everyone here. For those who like their Thai food to be more traditional and authentic, or even those who like something different. Allow me to recommend the soft shell crab. Which I personally found to be exquisite. The pork belly is also absolutely mouth watering for those of a more conservative palate.
The staff are so friendly and attentive without ever being intrusive.
From meetings to family meals, to catch ups with friends. I thoroughly recommend Try Thai.

I had a lovely birthday here with great food, service and atmosphere and it was pretty busy. To my surprise it was happy hour so I got 2 cocktails for the price of one. They played happy birthday and brought out a slice of cake with a candle in to the delight of my 8 year old granddaughter. All in all a lovely evening.

Great area to eat lunch! We pre booked it as this tend to be busy on weekends! Food was good and everything as expected.
I went for the set menu of £13.95 but paid £3 more for king prawns.
Note:
You only get 3 but they are pretty big.

Had arrived an hour early for my table booking and they were very accommodating . They were very friendly and found us a table for 2. They promptly took our orders and it arrived without hardly any wait. It was delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect. Will definitely be coming again and would highly recommend this restauran

Excellent Thai Food

First time here and wasn’t disappointed. It was very busy and earliest we could get a table was 9.30pm (Was a Saturday night) so advise to book as early as you can. We had drinks in the bar until table was ready. Food was excellent, very authentic and decent sized portions. See the pics. Service was great, very attentive and friendly staff.

This place is kind of Ok, but bustling with people always. Had been there twice and had to wait. Food was kind of Ok for a veggie, but I understand from my friends that they're really good for a Non-Vegetarian. I would suggest this place if you're going as a group. Nice place to hang out and enjoy Thai.

OK, so the name could use some work but it's a very good Thai restaurant in Manchester. In fact, I've passed this place in Chinatown before and decided not to go in just based on the name. I only went based on a recommendation from a local that have visited and they were right - this place is good! Flavors were authentic and tasted right to me. Unlike the other Thai place I've tried, which I won't name but you can find in my reviews, Try Thai did not shy away from using fish sauce in their dishes. You can't simply add it after the fact... it needs to cook and meld together. Anyways... Try Thai did it right. I've never had a dish there that I didn't like and I've visited many times since that first recommendation. The spice level is quite high too... they're definitely not afraid to turn up the heat when it's appropriate for the dish. Try the green papaya salad... good but very, very spicy! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Miss the Food So Much!

Used to frequent this place when I was living in Manchester as a Student.

Loved the food here!! The spicy Papaya Salad, Corn Cakes and the Red Thai Curry were my go-to dishes to eat there

It is always better to book the table prior especially on the busy nights
Marrun
Attentive service and well organised. The food was nicely presented and flavoursome. The price tag was reasonable. Lovely warm atmosphere and a very pleasant experience

Enjoyed our lunch set here. Tried the fried pork ribs as appetizer. Tasted quite decent, properly seasoned. The red curry pork stir fry tasted pretty good. Particularly when eating the curry sauce with rice. The dessert was a nice touch at the end to finish the value lunch.

I wanted to try siam smiles since it is listed by guardian as one of the best restaurants in uk. Unfortunately they close at 4:30 on Sunday. The lady recommended us this place instead to try authentic Thai food. We wanted to try everything so went for veg buffet. Quantity of food was a lot and it was good. The only complaint would be that the service was really slow.

Try Thai is one of the popular restaurants in China Town, Manchester. Known for its authentic Thai food, the restaurant spans across two floors, the lower one with a Thai Canopy style bar and the upper one for fine dining.

From the expansive menu, we ordered the following –
Thai King Prawn Cakes: These were king prawns and pork flavoured with lime leaves and lightly fried, served with sweet chilli vegetable peanut dip.
Chicken in Pandan Leaves: The chicken pieces wrapped in Pandan leaves marinated with garlic, curry powder and soy sauce and again lightly deep fried. The Pandan leaves with their sweet aroma and soft taste, is ideal for wrapping savoury items like chicken or even sticky rice.
Thai Crispy Calamari, These are calamari rings dipped batter and deep fried. I love calamari and this dish I found, was too oily for my liking.
Crispy Battered Soft Shell Crab: Deepfried battered soft shell crab served with Thai sweet chilli sauce: Again, a tad oily.
Crispy Coriander Beef: These were tender pieces of beef enhanced with fresh coriander seeds and fried. This was the best among starters and fortunately the frying had not over powered the taste of the beef.

All the starters we ordered, were deep fried and I was wondering whether they would have anything which is deep fried in the menu! Also the garnish with all the dishes were same – orchid flowers and parsley and shreds of cabbage and carrots – and could have been more exciting than these.

For the main course we ordered a King Prawn Garlic and Pepper and Chicken Red Curry and couple of portions of Jasmine Rice to go along with it. The classic red curry with aubergines flavoured with red chillies, lime leaves, sweet basil and shallots was creamy with coconut milk and succulent pieces of chicken in it. A true classic. But the King Prawn Garlic and Pepper was in a sauce similar to an other. I thought the taste of prawns were subdued with sweetness of the sauce instead of the flavours of both garlic and pepper.

We also ordered Thailand's signature dish, Pad Thai. Made with thin rice noodles, eggs, tofu, red onions, bean sprouts, chives, peanuts and dry baby shrimps stir fried in sweet tamarind sauce, this dish did not disappoint us.

But the Pineapple Fried Rice, which we ordered was pretty good and I thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and flavour of this dish. This dish had a combination of bite sized pieces of chicken, king prawns and squid garnished with fried cashew nuts served in a hollowed out large pineapple.

The drinks served also were pretty interesting – Bangkok Fizz, Gorilla Guava, Lassi Gone Wild and Apple Mohito. I just stuck to my Belgian brewed Stella Artois.

Service was a tad slow since it was a Saturday night. The interiors, which I thought was little clichéd, did not impress me. But the food did!

The place was busy on a Monday night. Which is good, but it was noisy as a result of it. Stuff is helpful and quick. Prior to dining out tai food, we studied the app, found a few in the area. Chose the closest and at first sight less overpriced one. But in fact, try thai is overpriced, sets are the same price as in the most rated one. Try Thai is more of a fast food type, so I wish we visited another one.
Green curry was great, but I also had a red curry with duck, but to be honest it was too fat, good for the duck))

Eaten at many Thai restaurants in Manchester and this is by far the best one.
The luscious green curry served with crispy tofu made the whole experience delightful.
Food was served literally in just under 6 minutes after placing the order even though the restaurant was very busy.

Will definitely visit again and would recommend.
The Indian
Possibly the best Thai restaurant in Manchester and definitely the one with widest menu choices.

While I have been on a few occasions today's meal with my daughter was an exceptional one.

We started with an assortment of starters which we orders separately and the once I will highly recommend are the Beef in crispy coriander and Soft shell crab. The tempura we had also was top notch.

We had the Red curry with jasmine rice for main course which remains my measure of chefs competencies, expertise and creativity. Chef Dang came out trumps on all 3 counts.

Great ambience and decor; nothing over the top but stylishly Thai.

If you are in Manchester and want to have one South Asian meal, I will highly recommend Try Thai.

PS. Ask for the spicy sauces and even for an Indian, those sauces were really really hot.
Fly
Ordered the soft shell crab and prawn tom yum (hot and sour) soup for starters. Fantastic! Best tom yum soup I've had. Clearly not out of a tin and plenty of ingredients. Same goes with the prawn jungle curry and three flavour duck. My only complaint is the flat noodle dish. Why bulk up on lettuce?! Either charge more or reduce plate size. Otherwise efficient service and tasty dishes.

The tastiest Thai place I've ever been to. The ambiance is great service is quick and the prices are reasonable. I would suggest going for their lunch menu which is pretty good. The three flavour sauce is a must try! It's also halal for chicken which is really good for me.
Food - excellent
Service - good
Atmosphere - pretty
Value for money - decent and reasonable
Location - a little hard to find inside China town
Nurin Amran
Im a regular here because the food is just that good! The hot and sour soup is really good that my boyfriend keeps coming back here whenever he's in town. There are variety of menus that you can choose from but if youre going there during lunchtime, I suggest you order the lunch set because its way cheaper and the portion is just the same. The location is also great because its in Chinatown and just a shot walk away from the bus station
Great food served by polite staff. Some of my friends asked for dishes to be explained and made mild which was no problem. The staff handled a party of 9 with no problem all food was served in a timely manner. Great offers on through the week during happy hour 5-7. Vreat value on the set menu even on weekends. My tip is get a green tea with one of the flowers which open as you watch. £2.50 for a bit of magic

I never write reviews but felt the need to now. The restaurant is great. The food is amazing and the staff are polite and friendly. fab place for a date or a nice meal with friends I recommend it all the time and my friends love it. Keep up the great work guys xx p.s the cocktails downstairs are lush

Not great. Been three times and every time I wanted to like it, every time I've been disappointed. Food is really middle of the road, despite above average prices. All the dishes are very staid examples of the usual array found in any Thai restaurant. Despite being served by different waitresses every time, I have found them all to have had similarly bad attitudes where everything is too much trouble. Three strikes and out for me with this one. Chaophraya and Ning offer much better alternatives.

EXECELLENT!!. This is an excellent Thai Restaurant. Great Deal on a sunday with two set menu's. Been to Thailand myself and would certainly recommend this place, Pad Thai is to die for... GO GO GO!!

Great Tastes. Really nice restaurant, interior decor gives a cosy feel. Food and service was fantastic. So many different flavours and I could have drank those pina coladas all night. Only downside was when we came to order our dessert 3 out of the 4 desserts we wanted had ran out...but other than that will definitely go back again in the future.
Smimon
Distinctly average, given the slightly above average prices, i can't recommend it. Calamari was chewy, ribs overcooked, red curry chicken was boiled, and vermicelli had the consistency of slime! All tarted ok though
Cliff
Marvellous! Eat their ealier. Excellent decor, very friendly service and wonderful food.

Wonderful!. Try Thai serves the best Thai food in Manchester!
I love the place even more after the refurb- with new decor and seating on the first floor!
If you are new to Thai cuisine, I would encourage everybody to go have their initiation at this restaurant simply for all the choices. Some people have the misconception that Thai food is all too spicy, but it doesn't have to be. Thai specialises in a mixture of tastes. But if you do like something extra hot then all the better to 'Try Thai'!
Vvn Sin
Just finished a meal, food was delicious, Pad Thai recommended but pandan chicken had a smell to it which we deciphered it had gone off and Thai fried rice was quite ordinary, spicy lovers try the g.pork salad!

We have just eaten at Try Thai and the best word to describe the experience is AWESOME!! I am a huge fan of Thai food and not only was the meal excellent value but also a generous portion which tasted truly authentic! The staff are very helpful and genuine and were extremely hospitable! I ate a 3 course set lunch for £6.95 vegetable tempura noodles in Thai red soup and ice cream Lots of choices within the menu with a £5 express lunch and a £9.95 option with more choice. Would I come again? Most Definetly!

Awesome place , go here once and you will just keep going back, hidden gem would be the best way to describe it. Low key homely decor , but the food is the best in my opinion in Manchester , the. Price and quantity are also great, I have told so many people to go here and try all end up as regulars

Lovely and authentic dishes, colourful, tasty and reasonably priced.

Super Thai food..great service..not very expensive. Love the Holy basil rice dish but beware very spicy.
Vindaloo Queen
I perused the menu and it was like returning home to an old friend- it was still £6.95 for a 3 course, still plenty of veggie options and the delicious cocktail list was ever present. To start with, I devoured a strawberry kick mocktail, made with freshly pulped strawbs- perfection. For a moment I was swept away to a tropical beach.

Another great restaurant ????.
Don't know why this is still not reviewed yet.

Beware please try to order spicy dishes if you don't like sweet dishes.
I ordered Spicy Thai salad with beef meat as starter. The beef was very crispy and tasty and as the name suggested was very spicy.

I ordered red curry with sweet basil as main dish which include either boiled or fried rice.
This is a medium spiced dish, has lot of flavors and very tasty.
The restaurant has a very good ambience and staff is very cordial.
