This review is to express my utmost satisfaction and to commend the exceptional dining experience I recently had at Gem 42 restaurant in Newport. I have been fortunate enough to dine at several Michelin-starred restaurants across the country. However, my experience at Gem 42 was truly outstanding, from the moment I walked through the door, I was genuinely impressed by the warm and cordial welcome extended to me by the staff. Their professionalism and attentiveness throughout the evening enhanced every aspect of the dining experience. What truly set Gem 42 apart was the exceptional quality of their food, which seamlessly combined locally sourced produce with an enticing Italian twist. Each dish was meticulously prepared and presented, demonstrating the chef's dedication to culinary perfection. The exquisite flavours and creative combinations showcased the immense talent and skill of the kitchen team. It was evident that the restaurant's ethos resonated with the increasingly discerning expectations of modern diners, seeking an harmonious blend of culinary excellence and environmental responsibility. well done Gem42.

Absolutely delicious… and my Godfather was a chef. The combination of flavours… little touches of ‘Italy’ were just divine. We absolutely loved the mixture of Welsh and Italian food experiences and the presentation made it soooo unique, topped up with the staff personal touches. Thank you for a theatrical evening ‘paired’ with the perfect ‘wine pairing’.

We had waited for a while to get our booking, my goodness was it worth the wait. Chef Sergio is an incredible chef and his team are producing culinary works of art, well done Overall an amazing experience! Had the Chef Signature tasting menu with wine pairing, everything was faultless, the food was just so good, the pairings perfectly complemented and the service was impeccable. The price is definitely reasonable. I'd definitely go back!

This is our second time coming to Gem42 and it definitely did not disappoint! The staff are outstanding and the food is sensational. Couldn’t recommend enough, also excellent catering for dietary requirements like gluten free etc! Such a delightful experience, already thinking about the next time to come back!!

A must go if you're in Wales. An unassuming location with Michelin star quality food. Creative, delicious and the presentation is exceptional along with their attentive service. We had the 6 course delicious tasting menu, and every dish will have a twist/surprise. Signature Scallop, waygu beef, impressive display of starters and sprinkles of palette cleansers in between - you will not be left disappointed. Hope to be back!
