The big breakfast is a good size for the hungry customer, and the ingredients are of good quality. The super omelette is also a good portion and is very cheesy, which is great. The smoothie was very tasty and super refreshing in the hot weather. Price is pretty good considering the size and obviously not cheap ingredients, the staff were super friendly. The only thing to note is that there isn't a place to change a baby, but they are happy to have kids in the cafe.

I can't stop smiling after experiencing the sheer delight of breakfast at Smile. This classic British breakfast spot is an absolute gem, and it's become my go-to place for a morning meal. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with the warmth and hospitality that defines British charm. The Big Breakfast is a masterpiece, and the vintage ambiance is simply charming. The staff is warm, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable. If you're a breakfast enthusiast, this place will make you smile!

Always a lovely welcome here. Such friendly staff. Lush vegan breakfast. Fancied fried bread. No problem at all. You can tell this buisness has been built on ❤.

Hi guys,
This is without a doubt the best cafe in Portsmouth/Southsea.
A fantastic family run business that know how to cook great produce (no 'value' ingredients here) brilliantly!.
This is flood that looks great and that you want to eat.
Not a hint of grease, and presented with care, this is food you want to eat again tomorrow and tell your friends about.
Pay a visit, you won't be disappointed!

One of the best breakfasts in Southsea (And Portsmouth). Great quality ingredients cooked really well. And lovely chatty staff. Sandwiches etc. are really tasty too.

I wonder it's a family run cafe.
The interior design is clean and neat, and I love it particularly for the big window could allow natural light to the dinning area.
Their foods variety is more of bead, salad; but I see they also offer caked and mull wine. Regarding the food quality, it's average. Please don't think it's a negative remark. Indeed, as far as I have experienced, the food quality generally is average. Just like the price there is a range and most of the time you will not be surprised. I like the environment as well as their food gives you a feeling of simple, no-frill, clean and fair quality.
Their staff is very nice and pleasant. You may feel their warm from simple conversation. I doubt that their owners have been worked in decent resturants. I am very happy to see how they take the order that they show their attention and standing straight but bent to hear from you. I observed that they know the way to put the food properly on the table. For example they will turn the ear of the cup not pointing to you. The amazing thing is they use the clothe or towel to hand the plate (food) on the table. Is it because the plate is too hot? I don't think so. This should be a tradition way to present the food since it avoid the hand touches the food and the ware so leave finger print on it.
So in a word o see their quality is subtle.
By the way the cafe is good for family or couple to have a leisure meal. We should support this kind of cafe.

I was visiting Southsea for the day with a friend and she used to come in this place with her nana every weekend for breakfast so wanted to return to bring back fond memories. The menu was a dream for me, I was spoilt for choice but settled on the veggie lasagna with chips, coleslaw and salad. I think this is my favourite meal ever and it was delicious. The staff were fantastic and the place is really lovely and had a great vibe. I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Lovely breakfast which is customised with fried bread, black pudding, mushrooms whatever you usually get they can do. Staff are lovely and it’s a cafe with heart and atmosphere 10/10. (PSA if you buy the pot of tea for 2 there is not enough tea for 2 cups each) that’s the only negative I can think of.

The loveliest people serving up a delicious slice of British food culture. Family run and you can feel it. I always visit when in town and feel welcomed and happy for a good breakfast.

We came across Smile Cafe by chance through trip advisor reviews whilst trying to find somewhere nice for breakfast. We visited today and I can honestly say it was the best breakfast we’ve ever had eating out EVER! And we eat out every weekend. Not only that but the staff are so lovely and welcoming and it is a lovely family run business. We are so pleased we’ve found this little gem and will be visiting again often. Our children had clean plates too! Thanks so much 😍
