We met friends at Tim's Bistro for lunch. This was a new tryout for us, but the reviews were already excellent and it is the 2nd highest rated restaurant in Southampton - maybe by now the highest!! We ate off the specials board which featured, Hake, Seabass and Skate. They were £11.95 and £12.95 0utstanding value. The Hake which my wife and I had was served with beautiful mashed potato and a crayfish sauce. Our friends had the Skate and Sea Bass and both looked great and they said it was too. This was the best main course I have eaten this year and probably last year as well!! Friendly service, comfortable seating. We all had sweets which were good, but it is the specials that were REALLY SPECIAL!! Our Southampton goto restaurant is now Tim's Bistro. P.S. Everybody else's food all looked great!

We booked a table for 6 after a recommendation from a friend - and we were not disappointed. The food was well presented and delicious, the staff were friendly and chatty and helped us with our menu selections. The atmosphere was relaxed and we were able to all converse easily across the table. The Creme Brulee was probably one of the best I have ever had. We are already planning a return visit :-)

I think this bistro sums up how to do food well. Service is very good. The food is unbelievably well priced, tasty and fresh and the restaurant is clean and fresh. There's lots of space in the restaurant and even when its busy, it doesn't feel cramped. I'd definitely recommend a visit!

Tim is a fantastic host and really cares for his customers. I am coeliac and he went out to buy a loaf of gf bread so I could have a scrummy brekkie. My colleague and I were both very impressed

Tim’s Bistro is perfect for a romantic meal for two, a get together with friends/family and celebrations too. Service is excellent with two ladies providing a friendly, welcoming and efficient service. Camembert as a starter is absolutely incredible. Steak and Lamb for main is also amazing. Well done guys - great job!!!

Friendly service with excellent food. A really good find in Bedford Place. One of the few restaurants we've been to where the chef (Tim) comes out to chat to you after your meal. He's created a wonderful place there - great decor, friendly staff and his menu is excellent. Great quality all round.

Friendly service. Tasty food. Not quite as blown away as some reviewers but would definitely return for a reasonably priced bistro style meal.

Very pleasant waitress, food good, Tim came out and asked how it all was, just fine. Sensible prices for food and wine.

After reading the excellent reviews on trip advisor, I opted to book this restaurant for a special occasion. The staff are extremely friendly, but the service isn't comparable to a top restaurant it has more of a a cafe feel. The food yet again felt like food you may get served up at a nice dinner party. It was typical nice home cooked food, but it lacked the touches that high quality experienced restaurants would serve up. A rack of lamb in a top restaurant would always come better prepared. I.e the lamb wouldnt be 80% fat, it would have been properly trimmed down before service. The sauce on the lamb was a fairly simple watery gravy, rather than a nice rich sauce often served elsewhere. It then had what felt like packet veg and 1 or 2 potatoes served along side. Whilst this food was nice, it lacked the wow factor and high quality served in other bistros. The prices of the food are great though and the restaurant does have a nice atmosphere. This is simply just a good place, unfortunately for our experience it wasn't a world beater.

There are lots of restaurants in Southampton. Tim’s Bistro is amongst the best. Great quality food by a superb chef and very good value. Nothing stuffy about this place either. Highly recommended. Starters, mains and deserts are ALL excellent.

With two universities nearby and constant need to pick up drop off or just visit this is the place to eat. Surrounded by university accommodation there is always a need for refreshments at sometime and this is the place. Excellent food staff and style at a very reasonable price I cannot recommend strongly enough. Hope too many don't visit to stop me getting a table as I shall be back with enthusiasm .

We ate lunch. Friendly and efficient staff. Interesting menu with a few specials on a board , eg seafood, crayfish and chorizo risotto with spinach. [No charge for extra spinach] Good range of sandwiches and baked potatoes if a lighter lunch wanted. Baked cheesecakeplus warm berry compote delicious. Nice, reasonably priced wine by the glass. Wider menu available in evenings. Probably worth booking - clearly popular.

Popped in on the off chance and once again totally impressed. Excellent friendly service and superb food. Definitely the best restaurant in Southampton. Reasonably priced, and cannot be best for value. Can’t wait to go back.

Starting with baked Camembert with ciabatta for myself and superbly cooked and displayed scallops for my wife delivered by an attentive but not obtrusive young waitress the meal got off to a superb start. The main course for my wife was a rack of lamb with potatoes and ratatouille plus wilted spinach which she assures me was very nice, I however was expecting a horrified face when i asked for my steak in the surf and turf to be Blu, however Tim cooked it perfectly negating the necessity of a steak knife as the meat just parted with ease, possibly one of the best i have ever had, even my wife tried it and said it was good (and normally everything she eats has to be seriously dead) the thin cut chips in a garlic sauce were a novelty but very nice. The desert topped it all off very well with cheese cake and fruit compote for my wife and a multiple cheese, cheese board served with ciabatta rather than boring crackers. All washed down with a pleasant bottle of house rose. The location is handy in Bedford place as there is plenty of parking In addition Tim actually came out and talked to his diners, a very pleasant man and from what we understand if you have to be gluten free/dairy free or any other sort of free he can accommodate you. Both myself and my wife are full of praise for this little gem that we have found tucked away in a little street in Southampton Thanks Tim and ladies, we will be back (and we will bring friends)
