This is by far the best Kerala Cuisine I have had in the United Kingdom.
I thought East Ham, London was the place to find the best in South Indian food. But I was wrong. It is this place in Southampton.
I went from my firm to University of Southampton for Careers Fair and after the fair, decided to meet up with my old friends. I never knew of this place. But my friends recommended this for dinner and they came along.
The staff were very friendly, took our coats and hung it up in the common coat hanger for us. They also gave us good time for deciding what to order as we were a group of 5. We ordered just one started. Vegetable Vizhi. But to our surprise we got a special Dal bajji or something as a complimentary starter. The Vegetable Vizhi is very much like a vegetable spring roll, only tastier. Came with sweet chilli sauce and some dry salad. And the complimentary dish, whose name I do not quite remember, came with some mint sauce.
We also gave orders for some drinks, Kobra and Kingfisher, Indian brands brewed somewhere in the Europe. And got ourselves some poppadams till we decided on our main course.
5 of us ordered a variety of dishes,
Vazhudananga Curry
Kerala Meen Curry (fish curry)
Lamb Jalfreezi
Garlic Chicken
Chicken Biriyani (which comes with some vegetable sauce)
Kerala porotta (2 X 2each),
Chappati ( 2 X 2 each)
Vellappam (2 X 2 each).
It took us longer than an hour to finish our epic feast of a meal here. And we were so satisfied and thanking our friends to have brought us along.
And despite the fact that we were all so full, we decided to have a dessert.
We had mango kulfi. We knew it was too much, but our minds just couldn't stop longing for more from there.
All 5 of us attacked the kulfi and finished it in less than 3 minutes.
And to top it all we got ourselves two shots of Baileys (though I am not a fan of chocolate flavored liquor, I did have it).
After all that hogging the bill came up to about a hundred of which we got about 15% discount as it was our first time with our friends (who were pretty regular there).
OMG! I still can't believe I walked out of the restaurant. I was so explodingly (if that was a word) full.
The food was very good and came fast. The staff was really nice! Would definitely recommend. Nice ambiance.
Although the decor is dated, the food here is next to none. Service was nice too. My brother and I love this place and every dish we've had was a great hit. Prices were perfectly normal. Dont let the portions fool you, they are very filling. One thing to note is they do get packed, so best make a booking or come early!

Food is always delicious and no matter what we’ve ordered over the years the entire family has enjoyed it. Our dad introduced us to the restaurant where he always truly enjoys the Chicken Masala. Staff are wonderful and attentive, always trying to assist from accommodating special needs to providing take out orders as speedily as their busy restaurant can. Highly recommend!
Very nice restaurant. Staff were helpful, food tasty. Little tip for idiots like me, something in an Indian meal that looks like a French bean, probably isn't 😂. My family found it very funny. Except for that I really enjoyed my food.
Very good cuisine and service was attentive, without being too much. We were fitted in, despite no reservation and thoroughly deserved our meal. We will continue to return, as one of the best around.
Really good food! Had the prawn and chicken biryani, which came with papads and raita - no need to add on. The prawns were MASSIVE and so fresh and well-seasoned. Adipoli, insane flavour bomb! The staff were lovely, despite the chaos of the obviously crowded spot. I understand the crowd lol, the food is worth the hype. Really lovely place. We were asked if we wanted the food to be spicy, which is rather inclusive of them and understandable given the customers. 100% coming back!
Absolutely lovley people and food was amazing! It was quick and amazing quality Andi highly recommend them!
My favourite Indian in Southampton! Small & popular so you may need to book for peak times. Authentic, quality Indian food. Fantastic service with genuine, friendly staff. I just wish they would enhance the ambience perhaps with cosier lighting. Appams are a personal favourite of mine reminding me of my travels in Kerala. Love this place!
The exact taste of South Indian cuisine and spices. I visited for takeaway, and they took around 40 mins to ready the order, but all the wait is worth it. The smell of the flavors was so tempting that I wanted to open the package on the way and eat on the road (but didn't do that). I was completely satisfied with the taste that I regret not going here so far. But the reason I couldn't have earlier is that they were not available in Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber eats. I wish they were available in at least one of these platforms or had their own delivery.
You can let them know of spicy levels, and they will make the dishes exactly like that.
If you want to park your car, the parking behind Iceland portswood is free for 2 hours and usually will have empty spaces. This restaurant is walkable from the parking lot.
Superb delicious food. Interesting menu to explore. All of our dishes were excellent as is the service.
The best Indian restaurant I have been to. Me and my partner love coming back here, especially for the peshwari naan. All the food we have tried is consistently delicious and it’s a vibrant but gentle atmosphere.
