I’ve eaten at Ennio’s twice now and it’s been delicious both times! The first time I was part of a conference and we had hired the whole of the upstairs, there was no menu choice but the mix of starters and the chicken main was okay. After the conference dinner I decided to go back with my friends for my leaving meal, this was delicious!! I had been craving a seafood linguine for a few weeks and Ennio’s version really hit the spot! Will definitely be going back for another meal!

The front of house staff at this supposedly upmarket restaurant were very good but the food and wine was very disappointing. We chose a Sicilian red that was labelled as "recommended" for £36.95 a bottle. The wine wasn't off but it was served far too warm and clearly had not been well kept. To eat we chose the "chefs signature dish" of lamb cutlets which cost £24.95 each. It wasn't bad enough to send back but there was no flavour to the lamb and the dish was just about okay. With a 10% service charge the bill for the two dishes, a bottle of wine, a bottle of water and two espressos came to £108.46. This was by far the most we had paid for a meal in 10 meals out we had on our trip to Southampton and was the only very poor experience.

We visited for our three year anniversary dinner and I asked for a quiet table, which it was and it was covered in small gold stars, nice touch. We had a drink in the bar beforehand, very expensive two glasses of sauvignon blanc. My boyfriend chose the veal from the specials board which he said was probably one of the best meals he had experienced. I chose the seabass, again excellent, I have had this here on several occasions. We had tiramsui afterwards which I am afraid was not the best one we have tasted. This was his first dinner here, I have had several dinners here with my family. It's not cheap but the ambience is good, quiet, carpet on floor, white tablecloths, classy.

We chose Ennio’s as our hotel before embarking on the Queen Mary 2 and it was a very good decision. We dined there both night and their food was fabulous. Excellent everything! Food. Service. Wine list. Ambiance. I cannot give Ennio’s higher compliments. We’ll be back in October 2020 for another QM2 Trans-Atlantic and we will definitely be back to Ennio’s!

Ennio's, for us, will be a "special occasion" restaurant. We were staying close by at the Mercure Dolphin so it was an easy walk. It's in an impressive old building, mainly their boutique hotel and the restaurant has a welcoming, warm feel. We had a pre-dinner drink in a comfy bar and were taken to our table at the due time. Orders were taken, by a slightly over-enthusiastic waiter who, as the restaurant filled up, had to pay more attention to the other guests. The wine list is broad and not too expensive. We chose two glasses of the Nero d'Avalo, a Sicilian favourite of ours. Starters were Sauteed New Forest Mushroom Crostini with broad beans which my wife said were delicious. (I had a mouthful and agreed.) Mine was a bowl of Crispy Baby Squid with Roasted Garlic & Parsley Mayonnaise, enough for two! Our main courses were, Pan-fired Calves Liver, Fondant Potatoes and Confit Belly Pork. Both were well presented and excellent. We both finished with a lovely refreshing Lemon Sorbet. It's a gorgeous place, the service is good and the food excellent. Well worth a visit.

Great Food! Good little find! Im not from the area but was staying in a local hotel with family and looked for a restaurant. Glad we found this place. Food is very good! Good options of drink and staff are attentive. It is a little pricey but that might be because im comparing to the north. I would deffo go back though!!

Freindly, welcoming and attentive staff. Lovely ambience and great food to match. The prices are on the higher side but well worth it if you want to spoil yourselves a little. The rooms are all recently refurbished and tastefully decorated. The bed and pillow were to die for and probably the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a hotel. Easy access to other bars and restaurants close by and of course right across the road from the Red Funnel ferry terminal. Go on....treat yourself.

Very disappointed not 5 star Resturant service poor, waiter grabbed the wine bottle turned & said follow me! Not one glass of wine poured or checked to see if palatable! Not once in our 3 hour dining were we asked if everything was satisfactory, overall a very poor experience, won’t be going back.

A group of 9 of us dined here. We had a lovely oval table which was convivial. We had pre-ordered, which saved time. I had a Smokie starter followed by Hake with Mussels, which was delicious. My Panacotta dessert was good too. Service was excellent. I’ll happily return.

Was at Ennios today for a graduation lunch for my daughter. Our numbers changed from 12 to 9 to 8 and the restaurant didn't bat an eyelid at the last minute changes. They were very welcoming and were happy for us to have our own celebration cake for dessert. The food was delicious and the restaurant was a lovely haven from the torrential rain outside.

My husband booked a large table for work and invited me and our baby girl along. I’d never been to Ennios before so was nervous to come with our little baby but the waiting staff were so welcoming, kind and warm. They made sure we had enough space for our pushchair and bought us tap water while we waited for the other guests. They were very smiley with our daughter and one of the waiters was so diplomatic about offering me wine. I will definitely come again though maybe next time without our daughter so I can eat my whole meal with two hands!

We had been recommended to go to Ennio’s, thankfully we listened. My wife and I were in Southampton on a “ Christmas shopping trip” We had a look on Friday 22nd Nov lunch time and immediately booked for the evening. When we arrived we shown to the lounge area where we had pre dinner drinks and chose our dinner. The service was old school attentive and charming, the food exceptional my wife ate from the a la carte menu I went for the true taste of Italy weekly special. We were not disappointed it was wonderful. The wine list was extensive and not over priced. In all a relaxing meal in an excellent restaurant which also has rooms as well that look amazing. Highly recommended

We had a great evening out at Ennio’s in Southampton. The restaurant is situated opposite the entrance to Red Funnel ferries for the Isle of Wight and just down the road from the City Cruise Terminal where the largest of cruise ships berth (when we visited the MSC Grandiosa was berthed – she was on her maiden voyage and Southampton was her first port of call; huge ship with 19 desks and up to 6334 passengers and 1704 crew). The welcome at the restaurant was very warm, unlike the Italian beer that was very cool and delicious. The starters were superb – both in presentation and in taste. The main course was equally as good, but we ran out of time of dessert and coffee. Will definitely eat here again when in the area.

This is an experiance not to be missed. The tables are beautiful laid and spaced well, a wonderful friendly atmosphere with a tentative waiting and bar staff serving a varied menu , beautuful presented and a great wine list to compliment and all at a reasonable cost Looking forward to New Years Eve there with friends

We came as a party of 5 to celebrate a birthday on Thursday lunchtime. What a fabulous place and meal. The tables were beautifully laid out with crisp linen and lovely glasses. There were two menu's to choose from, an A La Carte and a set menu, along with some specials. We all chose from the A La Carte and everyone had a delicious meal. I had crevettes in garlic and chilli butter, and seeing my nice dress, they took all the shells off before it came to the table so I stayed clean!! My hake to follow on mash with chorizo and broad beans was utterly delicious and the coffee at the end of the meal smooth. Couldn't fault the service and couldn't fault anything.

Atmosphere was great, many menu selections and a very friendly staff. The only disappointment was at the end, reviewing the bill, they understood everything we ask during the meal, but acted confused when we question whether the extra charge on the check was the gratuity and would not say it was, so I left a cash gratuity and discovered later, that was already included on the check!

Service was top shelf. Great selection on the menu. Formal dining with linen napkins and tablecloths. Prices are reasonable for this experience. Located along the old walls.

Our friends had recommended this place saying it had a reputation of being in the top 10 Italian places in the UK, well we were greeted warmly and sat in the comfortable seating area around the bar to choose lunch, the two ladies in our party had the wine list which I have to say was very limited, they ordered a bottle of wine which when tasted was rather sweet for what it was supposed to be, they were assured that it was correct by the waiter and sipped away, we were taken to our table and starter's were served, my partner and I had scallops which were overcooked and a bit rubbery, our friends had prawn cocktails which were ok, my partner and I had the chef's special of mixed seafood, the description sounded excellent, but again all over cooked, the butterfly prawns were so crisp you could snap them in half again! my friends wife had ordered a roast and when it arrived the Yorkshire pudding looked like a piece of coal, and after complaining a replacement was brought which was nearly as bad when it turned up, the ladies want some more wine but the list was so restricted that the only dry wine was a Frascati which by the colour of it had been on the shelf for years, (yellow). All in all not a good experience, I should add that the staff were very good and the ambiance of the place was excellent, although why in a nearly empty restaurant the staff had to put a noisy family right beside us I will never know. In my opinion this place cannot possibly be in the top ten Italian restaurants in the UK, and the chef needs firing to serve such food to clients.
