Mayfair Chinese Takeaway

My 1st time visit but l wouldn't say it's my last visit. We stayed in York overnight & we fancied a decent chinese takeaway. I most definitely would try this place again but the only downfall was that there was only one portion of ribs when we got back to the hotel so l was disappointed because it was my ribs that was missing. We ordered 2 portions, 2 different flavours. So l ended up with chicken & sweetcorn soup (extremely delicious) and a postion of mushrooms. I was hungry an hour later. My cousin enjoyed his dishes but found it a little salty. Good job we wasn't charged for the missing ribs when we totted up the bill..

Food great, which is nothing short of expectations as a paying customer. However I couldn't help but feel like service was below par today. We ordered on Just eat and our collection time was 6.10pm. We turned up at 6.05, we left at 6.40pm. 30 minutes late is ok, but not when this is a collection. If you're allowing customers to wait in yor waiting area, can I suggest you invest in some heating. Food good, service poor. I think 3 stars is fair

Would be -5 stars if possible. Ordered with just eat, waited an hour then phoned to see where delivery was. To be told it would be another 45 minutes! So went to collect. Was offered £1 off for delivery charge, I questioned the fact it is £2.50 for delivery and was offered coke that I don’t drink ! Food was cold and chicken balls over cooked and dry. This place used to be great 20 years ago not sure what has happened to it now, both food and service very poor.

I cannot begin to understand how such terrible reviews can have been left for such a remarkable restaurant as Mayfair Chinese, York, UK. This little Chinese takeaway, to be located on Hull Road, a little street that goes into town, is a place that you can acquire Chinese food from: 100% guarantee. Tell me, where else have you had a similar experience, tell me? Where. That's why Chinese restaurant, York, UK, is the place to go for your Chinese order. So give them a call, to buy your Chinese food.

We ordered food online for delivery. We phoned 45mins later to check if they had received the order. They said they had it, but couldn't do the delivery. I was a bit annoyed that they didn't let us know, but they were clear on the phone they weren't going to honour the order. So, we ordered with another place. Then, 90mins after ordering, the Mayfair delivery turns up!? We had to send it back because we had ordered somewhere else (because they had told us they couldn't do it.) Weird way to do business.

Worst chinese ever, chips had been rewarmed from another day, curry was spicy but had no flavour, onions in curry were raw, chicken was on the brink of inedible, sweet and sour unacceptable, don't know what they did to the rice but it was rubbish. Delivered by creepy old guy in beat up ford fiesta, and came in "pineapple chunks" cardboard box. Sketchy ass takeaway do yourself a favour and order elsewhere.

Not 1 star, minus 5 stars! Food is beautiful but delivery is shocking. Not only that but the manager and other staff blatantly LIE to your face, if delivery is late they blame it on the delivery driver who has no clue that there was a problem, they even pretend he works for a different company when he doesnt. Disgraceful service, disgusting treatment of customers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I found this takeaway is ridiculous, I had to wait nearly 2 hours for my food, when it arrived they got it wrong, the chow mein was disgusting, I found black hairs in it, the salt and pepper chips were dry, the sweet and sour chicken wasn't sweet and sour it was dog shite! I will never be coming here again for a Chinese. Wasn't worth the money or the wait!! Not happy!!!
