Hi we visited this place today it was beautiful atmosphere great staff and outstanding service let’s not forget about the food it’s so tasty and delicious. Remember it one of best restaurants near Lake District..
Was almost put off after reading the many reviews left by a disgruntled family.
SO GLAD we didn't because the food was good, generous portions and service was excellent.
Even though it was very busy, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
Will visit here again next time we are in the Lakes.
(By the way, we are Asians and Muslims too)
Great food! We had some great dal and shatkora lamb dish cooked especially for our Indian palate. The waiter were warm and welcoming. We engaged in lively conversations with them!
I ordered and collected, and by doing so and paying cash, I received a 20% discount which was great. The staff were efficient enough with my order. Upon entering the restaurant in order to collect I’m not sure that I would have like to sit down to dinner that particular evening as the atmosphere was not your typical intimate Indian restaurant, however the service was fast and attentive as I already mentioned. Most important we enjoyed the food and it was good value. Thanks for dinner.
We had a brilliant curry, a bit like my first experience of curry restaurant from the 80s but not in a bad way. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We went for an early meal and it was still busy. Would highly recommend, if you enjoy a good flavoursome curry well worth a visit
We ate here late at night on our trip to the Lake District. The staff were sooo nice to our kids, even bringing them extra food and a dessert when we didn't ask. The food was absolutely delicious! We will be back on our next trip! Thank you!
Authentic Indian food.
We shared 2 starters, popadoms with dips, two main lamb curries, a garlic naan and rice.
All washed down with a bottle of house red.

The staff were really lovely, friendly and very attentive. Chicken dhansak was good. Would have preferred chicken a bit softer and more heat (but then again the last curry I had when eating out was so bland this one was still 10 time better). Nann bread was fluffy and NOT OILY, chips were crisp and everything hot and came out quick. The atmosphere was lovely. The toilet for the ladies and disabled is the same so lots of space and very clean. Would go there again if in the neighbourhood.
If you look at some of the negative reviews, they are clearly fake. The food I had was the best Indian I have had in years. The chicken Shashlik was out of this world. Staff were polite, friendly and efficient . Great broad menu. Can not fault the place. Not sure if the top floor (if it has one) looks over the lake, like the name suggests, but with food this good, a view ain't that important. Thank you.
Seriously good. On holiday with the fam a struggling to decide on an Indian, with all of the options having similar reviews. Very glad we settled on Lake Raj! Fantastic Pickle Tray and Bhaji, don’t think you’ll find better in a traditional style, and all the curry’s used high quality ingredients and had great flavours. The restaurant had lots of south Asian clientele on the Saturday evening we went , which is obviously a vindication of the quality and authenticity of the dishes here, however the food tends towards 🔥. I had Madras which was great as I like my curry’s dead hot, but don’t go beyond the 2 chilli rating if you’re not hardcore! Thanks, we’ll definitely be back
