Consistent tasty food. Authentic Hong Kong menu and very reasonable prices. If you like sweet and sour HK style or roasted pork or duck etc you’ll love it here. Other dishes are great too! Staff are attentive and polite and food is served quickly, hot and fresh! Definitely has the 鑊氣!

The best Cantonese restaurant in Brighton. Braised pork and roast duck are a must have. Don’t hesitate to try new food here, they will be as authentic as you can get in Brighton.

This is undoubtedly the best and most authentic Chinese food in Sussex. Do not come here for fine dining or pampering or intimate service. You come here for the truly authentic meal and great food. There is nothing on their menu that cannot be enjoyed. I only wish they would do a dim sum menu too.
Make sure you order a range of dishes to share and enjoy. Make it communal. Don’t get yourself all selfish and get individual plates 😂
Roast meats selection are awesome.

Very authentic and tasty Chinese (maybe Cantonese and some Sichuan style ) food. However, the service is fast but not very friendly...

They might be the best place for authentic Cantonese style cuisine in Brighton.

Honest review: I had the best experience at Good Friends last week. I have visited many times and every time I am impressed. The service was amazing, the food was fresh and tasty and the wait for it wasn’t very long. The portion sizes are big and definitely worth the money. With that in mind, it wasn’t too pricey which is always a bonus! I would describe the atmosphere in the restaurant as lovely and calm. They also offer delivery via Deliveroo. I will be visiting again very soon 😍. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Brighton's Chinese restaurants have gone up and down over the years, but this is certainly one of the best for cleanliness and food quality right now. It's not the cheapest, but has an extraordinarily varied menu and is well worth a visit.

Good value authentic food with fast service

This restaurant never disappoints, we love the green beans, aubergine hot pot and the roast duck cantonese - boneless - with rice, and today we added crispy pork and sizzling lamb with ginger and spring onion. We just love it and one of the very established waiters remembers us and knows our order, she wouldn't dare give us the English menu, such an endearing touch that also make us feel home - 10/10 :-)

expensive, but delicious food and great service (10% service charge) would definitely come again, all the food we ordered was amazing especially the pork belly. Paying £6 for rice was kind of ridiculous though

Good taste and decent size portion. Missing a choice of starters tho which might be a let down for some. However, they have hot pot!

What a great eating experience, quiet unobtrusive service, patient Staff members who took the time to go through the Menu with regards to my Partners Dietry no no's, allergens etc.
Very highly recommended.
Going back there again and I shall bring with me, purely for my own taste, some salt to add.

This became our regular Chinese place. The best duck is here! Nice people too!
We won’t change it!

Salt and pepper squid was amazing and main dishes kept the high standard up. Great wine and friendly staff too. Highly recommend.

I think it may be very wise to remove the shark fin soup from your menu. Word is getting out about this and people will not visit your establishment in the knowledge that you are contributing to the destruction of one of the planet's top apex predators. Without sharks our oceans will die, which means we die too. This is a disgrace, not only for your industry but for the whole of Brighton. Please do the right thing. Poor. Very poor, hence just one star.

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Brighton I've found. The staff are friendly and the roast duck is amazing! Not to mention the pork belly!
I have been going there years, my friend Daniel found it while I was studying at Uni. I order the roast duck every time, be sure to ask for it with no bones! The chilli oil they serve is a recipe unique to Good Friends so you can add spice according to your taste.
Ensure they give you both menus when you go in if you want a big selection. I haven't seen Shark fin soup on the menu.

Superb staff , food was amazing ,would highly recommend

Restaurant was full of local Chinese people which I think is always a good sign. Didn't see sharks fin soup on the menu. Staff very friendly and great tasting food. I had chicken and sweetcorn soup, sizzling chicken satay with yummy peanut sauce and egg fried rice.

英國的好友記廣東燒味好食過香港,尤其是燒鴨和叉燒,龍蝦,抄粉面都很好食,去英國布萊頓 Brighton 一定要去好友記中式菜館

Very good Cantonese restaurant. Full of Chinese clients which demonstrates authenticity.

Very disturbed to find out this restaurant serves shark fin soup. This 'delicacy' has no nutritional benefits, has to have other ingredients added to it to give it any kind of flavour. More importantly 100's of millions of these beautiful creatures are killed every year for this dish. Quite often they are finned while alive and thrown back in the water to drown. Please remove this from your menu and I d be delighted to visit your restaurant. While this is on your menu I will not come plus actively encourage others to do so also!

Food is OK, but I would never eat there again as they still have Shark Fin Soup on the menu. What is this, the dark ages??? Please remove this vile item from your menu and consider carefully the source of your ingredients.
Mohamed Bahgat Badawi
Perfect food, crab noodles and duck are highly recommended

Really shocked to hear you serve shark fin soup. Sharks are an apex predator and essential to the health of the oceans. Cutting their fins off and leaving them to slowly die is completely inhumane. The people of Brighton and Hove don't want to eat such unethical food. Please take it off your menu.
Allison Cowie Lavers
If I could give no stars I would, unbelievable that you have shark on the menu when they are on the brink of extinction, we need them to keep the ocean healthy, we need to ocean to be healthy in order for us to survive! What are you thinking of?!!!!
Don't visit this restaurant until shark has been removed from their menu. Utterly disgraceful.....
Elizabeth Mason
Lovely meal and quick service, just turned up on a rainy evening and enjoyed ourselves!

Friendly staff and excellent range of dishes some very 'authentic'. Good value. Would visit again..

I am writing to invite you to remove shark fin soup from your menu. I think its inclusion is ecologically irresponsible and no longer socially acceptable. To leave sharks helpless to die without their fins is inhumane and not something the people of Brighton want to be associated with.
Every year over 70 million sharks are slaughtered to meet consumer demand. Most are killed just for their fins. As a result, some shark populations have plummeted by 90% in the past 60 years.
In short, the world’s fishing fleets are killing sharks faster than they can reproduce and nature can’t keep up. Unless this situation is halted, shark populations face certain extinction.
By ending the sale of shark fin soup you can contribute to a rapid and positive change in the fortune for sharks and the marine environment. However, without your support, the oceans face an uncertain future that could ultimately impact the air we breathe, the food we eat and the water we drink.
One organisation – bite-back – has already inspired countless establishments around the globe to halt the sale of shark products, including London’s only Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, Hakkasan. As a result of its campaigns no supermarket in Britain sells shark meat and many restaurants have changed their menus for good.
For that reason I have alerted Bite-Back to the inclusion of shark fin soup on your menu. I’m now urging you to end the sale of this controversial dish and reduce the pressure on declining shark populations worldwide.
By advising Bite-Back of your decision to stop selling shark fin soup (email stopbite-back.com) it will actively support the move and work hard to generate positive publicity for your business.
All you have to do now is remove it from your menu. It’s as simple as that.

No stars from me! while you are serving up Sharks Fins for soup appalled and discussed! In the last 50 years, the slaughter of sharks has risen by 400%, and by 2017, it is anticipated that 20 species of sharks could become extinct.
97 to 99% of certain regional populations of shark species like Tigers and Hammerheads in the North Atlantic are already gone.
Even marine reserves like Galapagos and Cocos—where sharks are supposedly protected—are the target of illegal fisheries.
There is no international enforcement mechanism to enforce the laws intended to save sharks.
Sharks, slow to reproduce, cannot sustain the massive fishing pressures they are under.
In 2009, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) reported over 1/3 of all shark species are threatened with extinction.
Many of the species commonly utilized in shark products are considered endangered, vulnerable or near threatened and often are obtained illegally.
A large percentage of shark fishing around the world is illegal and supports a ruthless black market.
Please do your bit for the sharks and stop supporting this ruthless trade! Get the Shark Fins off your menu!

Omg - actually serves sharks fin. Seriously guys this is appalling in this day and age. Sharks are under huge pressure with over 90% gone in the last 50 years or so for this dish that you still have to flavour. Dont eat here till they stop this and remove shark finn soup from the menu.
