Beautiful idea with beautiful volunteers making beautiful food.
Donation based, pay as you feel kitchen running on surplus supermarket stock that would other go to waste. Its so Brighton I cant believe there is only one.
Buddha bowl was delicious & so fresh for anyone who may doubt the concept. I took mine down to Pavilion gardens in the sun, a breath of crunchy, salad based fresh air in my working day.

This place is amazing, fantastic veggie food and pay as you feel , saving tons of food waste . Part of the Junk Food project , give it a go . Wonderful team of volunteers keep this place going .

Love this rescued food place. Menu of soup suggested £4.50; a breakfast bowl: kale, potatoes, tomatoes and smashed avocado. Suggested price £6.50 or a yummy vegan dish.
Pay it forward coffee £2.50

Great venue for a quick coffee using the community pay what you feel format. Had the vegan scone with vegan butter / jam, and it was delicious.

Absolutely loved the food here and the ethic behind The Gardener. I had a vegetable stroganoff with roasted vegetables and sautéed potatoes - delicious and filling.
Great quality food is rescued before it is dumped and used to make the day's menu. You pay what you feel a meal is worth to you (although the suggested price is already incredibly reasonable) and you can also choose whether you'd like to pay forward for a meal for someone else.
The food is great and so are the amazing staff.
Check the opening times as it isn't open every day.

An extraordinary cafe serving the community from grass roots up, using surplus food for their tasty dishes which I'm only asked to make a donation for. Regular cakes, sweets, variation of hot and cold drinks. Highly recommend. Ran by volunteers, with a core paid crew behind them; providing a foot hold in working life and working in a team. Love this place and grateful for it.

Wonderful place with a mission, wish there were more places like this. All run by volunteers that believe in what they do and zero-waste donation-based food. So not only you help people in need but also do something good for the environment.

Would give 5 but one or two awkward servers detract slightly from the overall experience. Watch out for Stadtler and Waldorf, two old duffers, who try to talk over your conversation, when they don't like the content.

Filo pie lovely and staff very kind. Unfortunately scaffolders next door were loudly drilling and listening to kiss fm but you can't win em all!! Pay as you feel. I paid £6 and worth it.

Nice place, nice food, nice concept, nice values.
Will definitely come back.

What a beautiful community project. Bringing together a truly diverse bunch of over 100 people from all walks of life to come and sit and eat together and meet each other. Food is lovingly made by friendly volunteers; food that would've gone to waste otherwise - supermarket surplus mostly.

Mouth watering meals, the best café staff & Lane view in Brighton, as well as making a considerable positive impact on the environment

Wholesome place, serving well cooked food and the coffee is fine

Thanks for all you do. Great place to grab lunch and 'pay as you feel' ethos means it's accessible for all
