The lady who served us must have been one of the friendliest people on earth.
Sufficed to say, the service was great. The arched brick cellar underground experience isolates you from the world above and gives you the impression you could be dining in any location. The food tasted very nice and the calzone was spot on; ham, cheese, mushroom and spinach: not overcomplicated.
Due to the architecture though it can be quite noisy when full.
What a wonderful place. From the moment of being welcomed Delrio's was superb experience. Food, ambience and service excellent. Very personable and friendly. The food was just stunning! I wish we lived closer so we could come again!
One Highlight was having a glass of mirto.. which we haven't drunk for over 20 years, when we lived in Sardinia!

Lovely authentic atmosphere, supported by the decor and theme. You are likely to hear snippets of Italian spoken.
Waiting service was friendly and good but, as it is so popular, you might find you need to wait a while at times - tell them if you are in a hurry; I'm sure they would try to accommodate you.
The food is fabulous. Good pizzas are common enough, but there are a wide range of food options (less so if you are vegetarian or vegan, though there are vegetarian pizzas). The best vegetarian dish to talk about, on the menu, is undoubtedly the cheese and pear ravioli (Fiocci formaggio & pere). It contains a blue cheese, a parmesan and some other cheeses, along with some pear - it is coated in a really nice sauce too. The pasta wrapper is wonderfully thin so the focus is on the flavour of the filling, which has a sweetness to it from the pear. The blue cheese blends in really well so does not dominate the flavour. I am not a fan of ravioli as I usually find the pasta dominating and the filling bland, but this is truly the best ravioli I've ever had, and I would happily choose it myself next time I visit. (This time, my wife chose it and gave me some to try). The portions are generous and there are some nice sides too, such as the Rocket and Parmesan Salad.
Note, the borrowed phone camera I used wasn't very good in low light and got the colours wrong. I hope the photos give you an idea of the dishes I'm talking about though. The wonderful ravioli I've discussed above is the photo with a pile of roundish shapes that have come out surprisingly orange in the photo!
The best Italian restaurant I have ever visited. The food was out of this world and I highly recommend the lasagne. The decor was beautiful and the service was great. I wish I lived in York because I would visit daily! Absolutely deserves all the amazing reviews it has
Great little find. Managed to fit my friend and I in without a reservation (luckily) 🥹. The restaurant was packed but service was great, waiter was really friendly and food was delicious (despite pictures not coming out great). Will make it a point to return next time I’m in York again

What an amazing find. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Delrios Restaurant in York and had an absolutely excellent experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and inviting ambiance of the restaurant. The classic Italian decor and attentive service made me feel right at home.
The food at Delrios was simply outstanding. Every dish was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were delicious and authentic. Had the pleasure of dining here tonight and I cannot explain how much me and my partner enjoyed it. The staff were lovely and pleasant, service was great and the quality of food was amazing. Absolutely worth the hype. The portions are excellent, so we didn't get the chance to try any dessert. A good strategy for two would be to order two mains, and one dessert and starter to share. The potato and onion starter was absolutely divine. Staff very helpful and friendly.
Best Italian food in the UK? We have been there last night and oh my! The quality of the food was exceptional. We had a burrata for starter: it was creamy and fresh and it tasted delicious. We then ordered the truffle tagliatelle and the risotto. The tagliatelle were simply superb and the risotto was fantastic. This is the sort of quality one would find in Italy, even better than some places in Italy. The atmosphere was beautiful and romantic, the staff super friendly. We had an unforgettable dinner. Definitely one for our list of places to come back to
