Friendly staff and helpful.
Cream tea with clotted cream was nice.
Our American visitors enjoyed the experience.

Small charming tea room near the city centre to sit back and relax with delicious cream tea. One of the best scones I've had so far. If you're here for breakfast, I would highly recommend their scrambled eggs.
We visited this place both days while we were in York. There are many tea rooms around the area but for me this one was the best.

Wondering round York on a shopping visit (Sat 6 April 2024) ,I came across the Castle Tea Roms which is located on a side street ,it looked busy during the morning when i past by which is a good sign so I decided to return later on for some lunch & hopefully find a vacant table for 2 ..Access is by a few steps & inside is relatively small with only 9 tables available, all on the one level. Table service is provided by the staff on duty who I found to be very pleasant indeed .There's a good variety on the menu which includes breakfast items which are served all day, Lite bites ,Cream tea Special, Sandwiches, Toasties & Paninis with various fillings,,Jacket potatoes have an array of filling combinations aswel ,Salads,Cakes & tray bakes along with hot & cold drinks etc .Really surprisingly spoilt for choice to say its a small establishment & very reasonably priced .The service was good & my order of Tuna & cheese toastie ,Cinnamon Toast along with pot of tea for one & cappuccino coffee was very enjoyable. There's separate male / female toilets for customers and payments can be made by cash or card .After my 1st time experience during this vist ,I would return back again in the future & obviously recommend these cosy Tea Rooms .

My Daughter took me and her mum away for the weekend to York, and Sunday breakfast for mother's day, she wanted to take us to The Ivy but as it was mother's day it was fully booked, so after a walk round we found Castle tea rooms so we decided as we were starving to go in, and how glad we did it was a lovely experience and nice traditional tea room, i went for the full breakfast while others had beans on toast and bacon and tomato sandwich and I can honestly say it was far better than a ivy breakfast at half the price! The bacon was thick and top quality and my daughter wanted some cheese for her beans that was no problem for the staff who we had a chat and laugh with, all in all we had a great experience at great value and came away glad the ivy was full.

Discovered it as was near hilton hotel . I had the cream tea. From one pot 3 great cups of tea. Scones- fruit, served with clotted cream. Small, but quaint place with friendly staff , competitive prices. Tried other tea rooms, but this was best.

Lovely little cafe. Great atmosphere. Always busy. Hard to get a table because it's so small. We were lucky because someone had just finished when we arrived.

Me and my partner came for our breakfast after stumbling across the tea room. It was cosy, welcoming and the food was delicious. We loved the fact the breakfast menu was simple and had the choice you needed. We couldn’t grumble at the price or the service. The ladies were lovely and made us feel so welcome! We will definitely come back when we’re up this way! Thank you guys x

Stopped in for a cream tea while I was thirsty on a walk and it was amazing.
I ordered the cream tea with clotted cream and it was so nice to have a proper brew.
It was really like stepping back in time. The people were friendly and the food was tasty and filling and excellent value for money. I enjoyed looking at their excellent collection of beautiful tea pots.
The cakes looked wonderful and I will definitely try one next time I am in York.

The servers were very attentive and helpful and the food was delicious. The scone was warm, sweet and fluffy. Mixing it with the jam and clotted cream made it divine. I would have liked to have more than one though. The English Breakfast was quite filling. The atmosphere felt homey and warm and the teapots added a welcome quirkiness to the place. It seemed a tad tight though, particularly with the tiny tables. But the tea stayed warm and the milk kept being refilled as we wished! Overall, it was a good experience 😌.
