Lovely welcoming pub in the heart of Portslade Old village. Recently under new ownership, the place has been transformed. Good selection of beers, with regular guest ales. Food is only availiable on Sundays, but the meals are good and reasonably priced. The beer garden could do with a makeover, but is still nice to sit in, a real suntrap. We often visit with kids, who are more than welcome.

I used to be a Friday night regular here for ten years in the 90s-00s. It's a lot tidier and cleaner now and the toilets are a major improvement. Nice garden area with benches albeit the dog toilet gives it a slightly unpleasant smell. Good service and would return again.

Hi everyone. My partner and I work hard to make this place a friendly and welcoming place to visit. We have a lovely bunch of locals here that are happy to have a chat with old faces as well new one's. We are also lucky enough to have fun, helpful and friendly staff who we value dearly. We pride ourselves on being a family run pub with a good selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. We are child and dog friendly and have recently spent a lot of time and effort on our beer garden which has gone down a treat. I love being a part of this wonderful pub. Kind regards from the landord and landlady.

The pub is under new management and has undergone quite a few changes. The delicious home cooked Sunday roasts are good value and use great quality produce. The garden out back has excellent potential and is currently being tamed so summer dining alfresco should soon be on the agenda. The evening menu served Tuesday to Saturday (and from midday on Friday and Saturday) features ribs & wings, home made burgers, slow cooked brisket chilli, pork chops with crackling mash and duck breast with blackberry sauce. The pub also has a sports bar with 2 pool tables, a dart board and terrestrial television. An added bonus is that it is dog friendly which is great if you want a quick drink & a bite after a nice walk over the downs.

Just read previous review from eggharry.
The Stags Head, portslade Old Village don’t serve food, so your dodgy roast dinner was purchased elsewhere!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I moved into the village about a year ago and only recently started to visit this place as I'd heard terrible things about it and then it was closed for a while. Now it is back open with new management who are really trying to make a go of it. They have introduced a varied food menu (the chef is great) and redecorated the interior. I don't know if there were pool tables before but the sports bar now has 2 of them and regular competitions take place. Apparently the garden is being spruced up for summer and we can look forward to BBQ's in the sunshine. All this within crawling distance of my front door. Brilliant :)

Wow Susan Smith, anyone would think you were a little bitter about toy girl! and by the looks of things, you have been adolescently trying to sabotage local businesses with your key board frenzy....In other news, a more helpful review: This pub has a genuine friendly atmosphere, it is completely dog friendly and also very supportive of local bands. Their Jamming sessions on a Thursday is always busy (so any local artists that want a little session in with other musicians deffo give it a go). Service is always with a smile and the collection of Gin is an impressive one!
