Been here for dinner this evening i.e. 16-aug-18 with Dale & David.
Nice n cozy place... The stuart was beatifully handsome :)
Nice interior.. Good food.
I ordered roasted chicken...
This place is plainly amazing!! Everything was excellent, the food, ambience, service, and obviously good company as well, so it was a perfect dinner we spent together. The whole place is kitted out with vintage interiors and furnishings. Coming to food, we ordered fishery platter which had a good amount of squid, baby prawns, cod and salmon with few salad. And for the main course we had smoked haddock fish cakes.
Overall, good food: soothing ambience: vintage themed: good food: overly priced.
Wow had the most amazing lunch at The Cowherds!! It is such a beautiful little place with amazing food and a few pints go down great!! Would recommend it to everyone who hasn't been. I had the Brie and Bacon Sandwich, which kind of looks like a burger but okay!!
I love this place so much! It has a historical and peaceful environment. Good to have some rest after walking at the Common. Try Belgian Chocolate Brownie!!
I have visited many times but I am amazed I have never left a review! I really enjoy this pub. I love the history it’s seeped in. The food is great too. It’s traditional pub food. Only tiny issue is that parking could be a bit tricky.
The food was delicious!! But always check with the salads though... my salad was missing 3 ingredients!
Other than that everything else was delicious.
And staff was very friendly.
First time visiting, waited a least 10 minutes for a waitress but then decided to order via the App which was easy enough, food was OK although main took a while to be bought out, good selection on menu, would return again for food and drink
Excellent place to eat and good prices the staff where exceptional, my daughters order didn't specify chili's in the curry as it said a korma sauce and she's awfull with anything spicy but they re did her something else with no fuss and quite quickly. An overall great experience and I'd definately return next time we are up that way
Late Sunday afternoon, overtaken by the desire of a good old British roast dinner, but where to go!
Turned up at the Cowherds, and hey presto problem solved, while most places were saying no.
The roast itself as really good even though it was something like 5pm on a Sunday, so we'll done the Cowherds.
We will be back
Came here for dinner on a Saturday, service was pretty fast once we'd placed our orders, but was quite slow to get to that stage. We weren't informed of what was not available off the menu so by the time we ordered, 3 of our choices weren't possible.
Despite this, the meal was great, theres a relaxing countryside atmosphere inside, and we had a warm table by a log fire.
Would definitely recommend, and would come back again.
Arrived without booking but luckily there was one tiny table for 2 left. It was fate I'm sure because the standard of the food was exceptional! Loved everything about it. Beautifully presented, full of flavour.
The service was excellent, friendly and attentive waitress; the chef and the team, thank you.
Only trouble was I'm supposed to watch my calorie intake, but who could resist The honey pot for afters.!
Will be back soon to bring my son for his birthday.
I went for a lunch on Saturday and it was a good experience. Its a country pub just on the outskirts of the city in Southampton. They have parking although a bit limited, but it's free and easy to access.
It's a big popular pub so waiting to be seated took a while despite booking ahead. The tables are quite close together so don't expect to be able to have a private conversation.
Nevertheless, we had our table for quite a few hours as I was catching up with a friend and we weren't rushed or given a time limit.
The food was really good and the service once seated was efficient and friendly. We particularly liked the mini puddings and hot drink option. The chocolate brownie was delicious.
I would definitely go back.
My friends and I have gathered here so many times that I feel I have to sing the praises of The Cowherds. It is by far my favourite place in Southampton. The food is excellent, and they are constantly updating their menu so you can taste seasonal flavours. The brownie is my favourite dessert on the menu, especially with ice cream... The atmosphere is also charming - the staff are amiable. It would be best if you ate here.
Food was amazing! Service was a bit slow, they have their own app for ordering and no cell signal in the building... so we had to flag someone down, but once we had a server'sattention, Service was on point! Prawns were amazing, sea bass was fantastic, and I would definitely make it a point to go back.
