Whether it is the outstanding range of cheeses, home-made cakes and pies, the delicious spices in jars ready for tasting, this shop has it all. And if the produce were not enough, the kindness, care and advice shown by the staff are worth going for alone.

Lovely deli and shop in Cley. Very old and filled to the beams with good food. We picked up a pork pie (okay - thick pastry that looked better than it tasted, pork sausage inside), portuguese egg tart (baked by the deli and though not authentic still very scrumptious) and lavendar foccacia (yummy foccaccia with a hint of lavendar) to take for a picnic lunch. Also picked up a nice jar of local Cley marmalade to take back as a gift. They're known for their cakes and I think they are probably better than the savory pies. They have also an extensive selection of locally sourced cheeses like Norfolk Dappy, Cornish Yarg, etc. And did I mention the large wine selection in back? And the shelves of local jams and chutneys? Super cute place, lots of local goods. Friendly staff.

Lovely deli and off licence- superb cakes and pies, and decent coffee. Somewhat incongruous for such a small place, perhaps, and not exactly a substitute for, say , a Spar ( you can't buy a newspaper and a Twix here), but then, the pork pies are world class . I also recommend the sweet chilli cashews.

Picnic Fayre is a large deli in the small coastal village of Cley next the Sea. It is situated on the crossroads, not far from the art gallery and windmill, and takes its customer base from a lot of the North Norfolk coastal holiday cottages. The deli has a fine selection of cheese, particularly English cheeses including Lincolnshire Poacher, Cornish Yarg, Wensleydale, Stilton and Y Fenni. Antipasti include olives, sardines, pesto, seafood salad and sundried tomatoes and peppers. Cley Forge is the shop's own range of pickles, chutneys, mustards, sauces and jams. Breads include ciabatta and foccaccia, along with the shop's speciality: lavender foccaccia - tastes better than it sounds. Outside the shop, you will find baskets of local fruit and vegetables, and you can also pick up ice cream in the summer. The shop can get a bit crowded, but the staff are friendly, and there are certainly plenty of options for picnics on the beach. I'd recommend picking up some crab sandwiches from one of the many seafood shacks and adding the olives and other bits from the deli.

Brilliant delicatessen with a huge range of locally sourced foods as well as a large selection of international food. If you enjoy cooking from scratch and need some unusual ingredients, then you are sure to find them here. The bakery section is very good, and if you are looking for ready-made picnic food to take to one of the nearby beaches, then this would be an ideal place to make your purchases. There is a car park close to the shop - parking in Cley is otherwise a little tricky. Great store also selling wines and beers.

Wow-- what an absolute gem of a little deli and market in the heart of Cley. The bakery is unbelievable. Try to turn up for a fresh slice of the pear and ginger cake fresh out of the oven. You should be so lucky! Short walk to and from the beach, and Picnic Fayre is the perfect place to begin and end it. We will definitely be back.

We stumbled upon Picnic Fayre a few years ago when walking from Wiveton to Cley, and I am so glad we did! I've visited it every time I've been in the area since, and it never disappoints. Amazing variety of cakes, savoury pastries, wines etc...
