The Feathers

Excellent is the only word. The best room was spacious well furnished especially the sofa, and the bathroom and shower were a really good size. We had breakfasts, a lunch and dinners and they all were excellent, so please praise your chef and his helpers. We could see them working from the bar, so we know just what organisation and creativity went in to it. But what really makes The Feathers so good is the staff. There were plenty of them and each and every one was so helpful and friendly, from carrying luggage up stairs, navigating around the various areas of the premises, and bar and restaurant service. So please thank them and please let them carry this on. There is one thing that needs to be improved and that is your communication. I know that online booking receives an auto reminder near the time of arrival. But we booked by phone so we got a personalised Email from a named member of staff(I won't embarrass them) reminding us of our stay and to reply by Email if we wanted to book meals. I did this and received NO reply. I Emailed again and received NO reply, so why ask if you don't monitor your incoming messages? Sure enough when we arrived no breakfasts had been booked but we were able to do that, so no problem. But you could be missing important enquiries and messages, and losing business and your reputation.

It was nice but room for improvement in attention to detail. In particular, in the bathroom the bath gel was locked in a dispenser you could only use at shower height. It was nigh on impossible to reach it from the bath. No soap or separate bubble bath supplied. And the shower was so scaled up it was really sore to use as the water was forced Ute if the few remaining unblocked holes in the head. And the bedside lamps were unplugged, Erich involved scrabbling around in the floor to find the end of the lead and the socket. Surely that can be checked when room is made up? And the knob of the light switch on one side of the bed was missing. Room 24. But breakfast was good!

Right in the heart of this delightful town. Very pleasant venue that is clearly very popular. Rooms comfortable and a good size. Friendly service and a nice touch of providing fresh milk for in room beverages. Breakfast was hearty and gluten free options readily available. Car park is too small for size of venue and local alternatives not cheap. EV charging not available. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

Only popped in here for a drink and some food. The food was great and service was really good with very conscientious staff. They even overheard it was my daughters birthday and the staff and kitchen arranged her a 'Happy 4th Birthday' plate and ice cream complelty unasked. Such a sweet and kind gesture. Thank you to those of you working that day, it made ours

We had a very enjoyable Easter Sunday lunch. The booking process on line was effortless. On arrival we recieved a very friendly welcome by two members of staff. Once seated at our tables. The staff were attentive and helpful. The food was excellent. The roast dinner was one of the best we have eaten when dinning out. Whilst the cost is high, you are paying for the quality of the produce, which was superb. Very enjoyable trip. We would highly recommend to our friends and come back when we are next in the area.

We had a really stay at The Feathers. Being really picky it would have been nice to have had warm/ hot plates for breakfast. also out room number 1 was a tad on the dark side side. Could be remedied by changing it the thick material on the floor standing lamp. But that’s being picky!!!! We will definitely be coming back for another stay. Thank you all. Must also say Pauline was exceptional.

We loved our short stay in spite of the awful weather. The staff were polite and efficient, the food was very good and the Ale was Real. The room, clearly not top of your range, but we knew that, was fine. The only issue with it, stopping a five star rating was the rather thin walls. Or at least we assume it was their thinness but you could hear TV and conversations from adjacent room(s) (not the content of the cons but you knew there was talking).
