Great pub, staff are great, nothing too much trouble, food is great, plenty of screens on displaying different sports, plenty of seating available, people who frequent the place are normally very pleasant and cheerful, there's a bowling green in the back which is great to sit outside in the better weather, there's parking close by but be warned if you park in black horse lane next to the pub the traffic wardens can be a bit keen

Food was great, came out quite quickly and all meals were really tasty. we had a build your own burger and children meals, really great for value.

Food was lovely. Took mum the other day for a chilled afternoon. I had tikka chicken and mum had the seniors deal.
Mum chose sausage and mash. Portion sizes were good and staff were really friendly. We was served by Vicki who was really polite.
Thank you

As an ex green king manager for many years running three meter needs franchises I've just relocated to Liverpool from the south of England, I was very impressed with the standard of service and the quality of food, I would recommend this pub to my friends and family and any Ex meat and franchise managers or owners.
To the management and staff keep up the good work as you're flying the flag high for the green king umbrella.
WELL DONE

i have had lots of meals in this establishment and they have all been spot on however yesterday being the 16/12/2016 i ordered a regular meal that i have which is the hunters chicken. It was rank my chicken was chewey the bacon was burnt and when i went to cut into it with my knife and fork it slid across the plate as it was sitting on plate of grease the chips still had black parts of the spud on them and tasted of very old chip pan fat and the peas where that hard that u could of either broke a tooth or two or if u would of threw some of them at someone they had knocked them out i was very very disappointed with this meal and more so to the fact i waited nearly 45mins for my meal as well so please can u sort this out as iv,e had lots of meals hear and have been very happy with them up until yesterday i really don,t want to have to find somewhere else to eat but will if i have too

The location isn't exactly awe-inspiring, sitting on the drab thoroughfare of Prescot Road and looking out across a mid-lane car park and a shopping arcade. However, the Black Horse is a solid, reliable pub whose attitude should be taken on by neighbouring drinking holes..
It's a building with a grand exterior and while this may not continue with perfection inside, there's a relaxing time to be had sitting in the bright hallway at the back, looking out across the bowling green, which you can pretend is the rolling Cotswolds for that delightful rural delusion.

Since it's been done up it looks nice. Good atmosphere. A bit on the pricey side, beer wise. Really nice food. A great bowling green if you're into that kind of thing. Gets really packed when the football is on! Well worth a visit if you're around Old Swan.

What a pleasant surprise from the dark, dim place it was. Bright, airy and well furnished. Good beer and a lively atmosphere. It's an ideal place to meet up for a few drinks before heading for the brighter lights. But do return and enjoy the banter of a real local with down town service.
