My friend brought me here for lunch. She came here with her other friends recently and enjoyed everything here very much. We stopped here with our bikes. It’s such lovely spot - see view, genuinely friendly staff, hearty homemade food. Absolutely perfect place for lunch!

Turning up here without a reservation on the first weekend of the trams running through to Newhaven, I wasn't expecting a table, particularly since it was peak lunch hour.
So was pleasantly surprised to be given a large table in the heart of this lovely cafe/restaurant . The atmosphere is lively, with a good mix of locals and tourists, and the food - from my limited experience - very good.
I had the Chicken Caesar salad (see picture), and a can of locally brewed Pilot Leith Lager to wash it down. No complaints about either.
Since they take reservations, I would definitely recommend one to avoid disappointment. But for a far superior alternative to the chain outlets at the harbour, P & F is an excellent choice.

Thoroughly enjoyable breakfast with excellent cooking and very friendly and effective service. Nice atmosphere inside, and some lovely art on the walls as part of a local exhibition. The food was extremely well cooked, and they catered for our preferences on bacon cookery too! Will be back for breakfast again, and also try the delicious looking cakes too.

Very good local restaurant.Good choice of Food and well prepared on the premises.Staff were very attentive and helpful. It was clearly a locally owned business and very popular and always busy whilst we were there.
A good range of Vegetarian options.
A very nice range of home made cakes and sweets.
Everything very nicely presented.
We stayed in the nearby Premier Inn.There are also self catering accommodation nearby so this is a very good option at very reasonable prices.

A decent spot for breakfast. Lovely service and a wonderful spot looking out on Newhaven Harbour. The food and drink was okay - the coffee was nice but the hollandaise sauce on the eggs florentine I had was oddly cheesy and the spinach had not been steamed or wilted. I would stick to the more traditional breakfast options here.

What a lovely wee deli. The pastries are delicious and the choices of foods on menu plenty. I would recommend booking a table for breakfast or lunch as I saw quite a few people being turned away as it was full. It's a very popular bistro in Newhaven. Went for an evening meal. The food was delicious and the serving staff were very friendly. A big thank you to Colin - keep carrying that board

We booked a table for four, the day prior, for Sunday breakfast.
We were greeted at the door by a pleasant man who allocated us a table in the window.
The choice on the menu was varied and the service was rapid. We all enjoyed what we had chosen . We left with tray bakes from a vast selection.
Plenty of roadside parking and seating outside if you are accompanied by your pet or wish to smoke.
Well worth a visit.
Edit to add photos after a second visit.
I can recommend the French toast & maple syrup with smoked bacon.

Great place to enjoy a meal on a Sunday afternoon! The food is very good and fresh. Definitely will come back here when I'm visiting Edinburgh next time

Quaint little sea town cafe with fresh food and lot of options for desserts so save space for it!

A terrific find. The whole cafe was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and staffed by people who really wanted you to be there. The food is freshly cooked and my breakfast of scrambled eggs, tomato and bacon on sourdough was good. Why anyone would want to eat the fayre of the nearby hotel with its cheap self service and poor food should take a five minute stroll to this wonderful establishment.

Hidden gem

What a fantastic find. A wonderful bistro with excellent staff. Booked last minute and so glad we did, from the minute we walked in until we left the experience was perfect. The owner greeted us so warmly and the food was superb, freshly cooked. There were so many things we want to try so will have to go back and go through the menu. Thank you for a lovely evening from the group from York. Looking forward to going back especially from the banoffe pie.

Really nice place and friendly staff. We came in only for coffee and cake and were given table, reserved for others later. Quick, friendly service and delicious coffee! Short visit but very enjoyable. Thank you!

Lovely setting etc and benefits from being one of a kind locally but the prices are definitely inflated and the menu somewhat pretentious - there's definitely too much table reserving allowed and its impossible to just drop in at a weekend for a coffee. They would do well from introducing some more straightforward items on their menu. Twice friends have been asked to leave with their babies by waiting staff because their babies were babbling too loudly at the table.

Porto & Fi - Nice!. We are blessed with a few good eateries around Newhaven Habour and Porto & Fi is one of them. Consistently wonderful food and good service but don't be in a mad rush; it's not that kind of place.

The only dislike I have is the acoustics. On a full afternoon the place can get a bit loud. Otherwise well worth the visit. Do telephone ahead to reserve a place; especially on a Friday afternoon.

Not worth it!. I have been here several times and every time we go we can never get a table and all the tables in the whole place have reserved signs on them! This cafe clearly loses a lot of customers! I don't feel like you should have to book a table for just a coffee and cake. As well as not being able to get a table, the couple of times we did actually wait for a table (took ages) and get served, the staff were awful. We sat for a long time waiting to be served, then once we had finished, it took the staff ages to clear our plates! Nice setting but very disappointing!

Porto & Fi. I've been before and have put up with the stuck up staff and inflated prices for the pleasant surroundings, but on my latest visit the staff were just dreadful. They really made you feel they were doing you a favour by serving you. No attempt was made to accomodate us whatsoever.

The food is nice if you get in - although avoid the eggs benedict as the hollandaise is vile - on balance it's not really worth the effort.

It benefits from being the only place of it's type in the vicinity.

Def for ladies who lunch. I love this place and come here often, with and without my better half. A lovely menu of local produce which changes with the seasons; good portions and value for money. Or just a nice coffee and pud - my fave is the chocolate beetroot cake. I've not found one to better it. Can sometimes get overrun with kidlings but caters for everyone so has a wonderful 'community' feel. My Mum loves the goujons and curly fries; a menu staple. Always busy so good idea to book a table if you're thinking of eating.

Great atmosphere. Spend the most of my morning here having breakfast, very friendly staff.
Great area!

Porto and Fi. I love this place. It is so friendly, always tries to be accomodating. The view is fantastic an makes you feel like you are on holiday every time you are in. The food has always been good and the service is good too. The cakes on the deli stand always make me want to buy more on the way out, but I am always too full.

Really nice little place; friendly staff, great food and they serve tablet with the coffee! Recommend the buckets of curly fries. Nice deli section too.

Great coffee, friendly staff and banana tarte is fantastic

Excellent for breakfast! Lovely cake selection and shop!!

Porto & Fi was really good. I’ll gladly be back, to sample some of the other treats from their menu

The brunches are incredibly popular but the service rarely suffers for it, nor does it ever feel crowded. It's a great place to nurse a hangover (their bacon rolls are perfect for this) or to start off a healthy weekend (porridge and yoghurt with granola) and
