A great venue, which was perfect for theatrical performances like the ones used in the fringe. Would have loved to have seen more here during our Edinburgh stay

Love this place so much. Such a gem. They have occasional free movie screenings which are wonderful and the best cafe!
Calvin cowie
Fantastic place for gigs, rehearsal, drinks food... you name it. All the different spaces allow massive versatility in finding the right ambience for the right gig. The building itself is well worth visiting just to take in the grandeur of the old vet school and the free art exhibitions that run.

Best fringe theatre due to curated selection.
Lovely atmosphere in the old vets college, massive, relaxed cafe, great art throughout venue and lovely courtyard setting for outdoor drinks and food. Try the gin, they make their own.

An absolute must do experience! Marina our hostess was knowledgeable, friendly and witty with a wealth of experience in the making of Gin. We made three cocktails paired with 6 delicious cheeses crackers and bread. A great day out with friends. Definitely recommend and I’ll be booking again!

Excellent exhibition space - went to see @sophia_make_ing and it was incredible!!
Gemma Langley
Great exhibition. Been quiet a few times. It's rather big, you end up tired after looking around all the rooms but it's worth seeing all the art, from people like us

Student venue. Decent space(lecture theatre) for Edinburgh Festival show, with good facilities. Especially recommend Bross for amazing fresh bagels. Saw John Hegley's show which, 33 years after buying his book of poetry "Glad to Wear Glasses", and probably longer that he's played the Fringe, did not disappoint. What a delightful performance from an equally lovely man. Can't think of a better way to spend an hour than to wallow in Mr Hegley's wordsmithing. Thank you John and thank you Summerhall.
Becky Kelway
My favourite artsy vibe for the Ed fringe by far. Loved the lecture theatre venue for two shows; great acoustics and atmosphere. Welcoming staff who gave very clear directions when time was tight between shows.

they have the cutest cafe once you make it through the intimidating doors! really happy plants everywhere, and some granny chic rattan armchairs

My Wife and I got married at Summerhall in April 2023. Venue, Staff, everyone was brilliant. Cannot recommend highly enough for any event, including weddings!
Simon Cooper
The home of consistently high quality drama at the fringe.
I particularly like ‘in the round’ performances in The Roundabout.
Particularly good in 2022 were ‘Mustard’, ‘Grandmothers Closet’, ‘Manic Street creature’, ‘Waterloo’, and ‘work.txt’ which was more like an art installation than a drama.
It’s the southernmost of the big promoters, standing outside of the main George Square grouping, it has quite a different vibe, in keeping with its ambition.

Magical, bright and airy. Light touches changes from being the Vetinary School. Great venue for tye Record Fair
Jessica Ashford
Summer hall is an excellent multispace arts venue.
The two on side bars serve a great selection of food and drinks.
Over multiple visits to see bands, movies, arts installations, festival events, and private events, It is always more than fulfilled whatever was needed of it.
Pamela Kent
This has always been one of my faves to visit during the festival, recently visited outside of this busy time and still such a welcoming place, with a great team and energy
davidvivanco
Great grassroots arts venue. Just been to see a proper Fringe Show here during the Edinburgh summer festivals. During the year there are various events and activities. Support this venue!

Launch event for Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition. Busy but well organised. Definitely worth a visit. Nice cafe open during the day.

I love encouters to new, fresh, and inspiring ; this place nurtures people and their ideas. ♪ The staff are cool, friendly and in the know of local arts/music scenes. The facilities are accesable ; the clubs are varied. I like to visit here; I'd even work here!

For gigs the main room is very awkward, it's an L shape. If you are near the stage getting to either the toilet or the bar and back is a nightmare. The sound has always been decent to be fair but getting out can also be a pain as merch is normally at the only entrance/ exit! This place specialises in putting things in stupid places! Also the pub in courtyard only sells hipster beer/ciders (other drinks are available)
Lorna Nimmo
Cracking wee hidden gem of a place. Enjoyed the gig hugely.. the sound quality really great in the upstairs hall which wasnt huge but didnt feel cramped or uncomfortable. Toilets were clean and not too crowded. Loved the pub and the courtyard which was cosy and welcoming and again great service ... the pickerings gin was a great addition to a brilliant evening..would definitely come back !!
Simon Johannes Stark
Amazing place with loads of stuff to explore. I find something new every time I'm there
Caroline McCartney
Still here with Liz enjoying a few Pickerings gins! We are the Gin Sisters after all. Off to see another show shortly where we get a rum cocktail no less. Hick!
Gintee Tonica
Quite a unique place
Wonderfully enlightening about the production of one of my favourite Gins. The tour guide dispersed her knowledge and love of distilling gin throughout. Well worth a visit

Came all the way from Straiton on the bus to catch the last day of the 'Finding Balance' exhibition, only to be told that all the exhibitions are arbitrarily closed on Mondays. Why then was it advertised as running until the 28th?!
Patrick Bastow
Great venue, lovely atmosphere and art. A real gem. You could spend the whole of the fringe here alone. Good bars in the courtyard
Duncan Reid
Popped into the bar between talks at the Science Festival. Even though it was really busy, the waiter took time to make sure he took my order, checked everything was OK, and had the check waiting when I needed it. Superb and attentive, friendly service. Food was also really tasty. 5 stars!
Zoë King-Beck
Always love coming to Summerhall! Best music, arts, events and theatre!!!
Marianne Doig
I love the music and the venue is good...once I can get in. I have mobility issues and getting up and down the front steps is not easy. There are no hand rails which makes life hard for anyone with problems. Yes, I know there is a level entry round the back but the gate is sometimes closed and no one answers the buzzer!
Gwyneth McWilliam
Beautiful building, lovely atmosphere. Perfect fringe venue. Loved the cafe and the courtyard.
Julian Vaughan
Summerhall is a superb destination for anyone with an interest in science, culture, the arts and entertainment!
Marcelina Bielawska-Mieloszyk
Thank you Summerhall for a great well organised market.
Thank you all you loverly people who stopped at the stall, it means a lot. MANCELINA 😘
Eric Morel
One of this unique place in which you feel like being in another world, once you start Summerhalling, you never stop
Derek Malaney
Really good tour of The Pickering Gin Distillery - learnt an awful lot about Gin I didn't know. More to contemplate now when I am having one
Green Gourmet Giraffe
The staff are friendly and there are lots of vegetarian options. Soup, salad, risotto, pasties and sandwiches. On the recommendation of the staff I order the Blue Monday toastie that is filled with blue cheese, apple, honey and walnuts. An excellent tip.

Really loved this place! So unusual inside - a real hidden treasure! I loved the atmosphere. Such a great and unique place to go for a few drinks. I really want to go back & take more photos.
