This place is huge and very busy. We arrived fairly early with no reservation, but waited about 45 minutes at the bar and got a table. Our server was incredibly friendly and made our dinner so much enjoyable. The atmosphere is so lively, with all the diners just having a fantastic time. We are no experts in Indian food, but enjoyed everything we had. Everyone we spoke to before our visit had heartily recommended Dishoon, and now we know why.

We went to Dishoom for the first time, and it was an incredible restaurant. Everything, from the atmosphere to the food and service, was outstanding. We had to wait for about 50 minutes because we didn't make a reservation, but it was definitely worth it. Their menu style is unique, and the food was delicious. The best part was how quickly they brought our food after we ordered. They even gave us chocolate mousse because it was my birthday. All in all, it was a fantastic experience.

Overall if you are looking for a chill and cool place to have modernised anglo Indian cuisine Dishoom would be a good choice, dont expect to have traditional indian dishes, many of the dishes are their own unique dishes which you normally dont get in your local Indian.

Friendly, trendy Indian restaurant in the heart of Soho. It is big; they serve thousands of clients weekly, but friendly environment. You will have to queue to go in, then wait at the bar to sit. The food was good. We had very friendly advice on dishes to order from the women who seated us at the table; our waiter pushed dishes from his agenda, pushing for consumption and rushed.

A nice Indian cuisine restaurant near Bond Street. It’s just a walkable distance from station as well as high street. Lunch and dinner times are too crowded. Getting a table is bit difficult at rush hours specially. Most of the time we need to wait to approx 30-40 mins on average 😞.
That’s why table reservation is always recommended before hand for a hassle free experience.
Though at the waiting queue, they serve some different tea in a typical traditional way of India (in small glassware )for refreshments, which is really appreciated.
Food is good, both quality and quantity are perfect for anyone. As a Indian though I find the options in menu are a bit less, but food quality will fulfils your craving for Indian food.

We visited Dishoom Carnaby on a Sunday afternoon. The food was great, ambience was mind blowing. The service was amazing. Lead time to deliver food was very low. Service person was polite and courteous. Coming to taste of food, every item that we ordered was delicious. Loved the place.

A wonderful experience every time we visit any of these chains. Unfortunately the wait time was quite long when we came on a Friday night for dinner, but staff were friendly and helpful and we got some delicious recommendations. A must visit when in London and a good atmosphere to enjoy with friends and family. Highlight was the naan bread with their complementary sauce as well as the chicken ruby. Wouldn't recommend the jackfruit biryani though!

We always have dinner at a Dishoom when we’re in London. They serve delicious authentic Indian food. The bhel salad being my personal favourite dish on the menu.
The Carnaby branch always seems to be packed. The amount of people does cause a lot of noise and business, so not a good place for a quiet dinner. Service was friendly but not very personal.

This is a must go in London. The staff are the best part of this restaurant. They are very friendly and explain all the details you need to know. The food is super tasty and you have wide variety to chooses. I highly recommend chicken ruby. Nice vibe and atmosphere. The only thing is you need to wait almost 1 hour before have your table.

Loved the food, loved the drinks, service and atmosphere but what really elevated the whole experience for me was that for every meal ordered here Dishoom donates a meal to a child in need. Makes you feel less guilty for overeating in a way… and there’s plenty temptation here. My favorite was little roasted sweet potato with creamy sauce, pomegranate seeds and some other toppings… magic!

As an Indian, I recommend this place. The ruby chicken was my favorite dish. The curry had just the right amount of flavor and creaminess and the chicken was tender. I appreciated they offered us complementary hot chai while we waited for a table (and it was actually very good chai that reminded me of India).

Really enjoyed the lunch, great atmosphere, amazing and professional service. Highlight of the day was Okra fries which is a must try for starters. Had heard a lot about the place and decided to give it a visit. After waiting for around 75 minutes on a Thursday evening ( which is pretty standard for dishoom) , we finally got seated. The experience was a shocking average . I found the place prettt overrated . The dishes have small portion sizes, and are quite expensive. While most of the dishes ( I tried and recommend : okra fries , gunpowder potatoes, vada paw , shammi kebab and daal ) were great, the butter chicken hugely disappointed us . The selection of drinks in this place is amazing though and caters to both teetotalers and bibulous people

Spicy fried prawn starter, lamb chops are great most of tandoor dishes are pretty good. It does a variety of drinks and serves thumbs up instead of coke. But not a big of any mains here. Be it any day, there is always massive queue they generally don’t take reservations either. Best to arrive earlier than actually hungry.

I love this restaurant and will always continue to come here for several dishes that I really enjoy. Reason I'm giving a 2 is coz I really want the management to notice this and take it seriously. Like me millions others love this restaurant enabling you to do very well as a business. Also why you've been able to open so many outlets in just a few years. If you're going to cost cut and progress like a lot of other restaurants then guess what eventually you might meet the same fate!! Your okra fries are the most popular and I'm sure you know the cost of your ingredients when you started off the concept. Then why is it that you feel its OK to keep going from serving full okras some years ago to then serving them cut in half (which is fine and better infact from the okra having a worm in it point of view) to now cutting them into QUARTERS!!! and serving half the quantity for the same price! Clearly the vegetable doesn't hold the spices if its skinned down that much and without any doubt obviously the taste and texture is not going to be the same. This is seriously not OK coz you're doing very well as a business and the okra fries are the most popular appetiser. You've also gone from serving those as a bar snack to now only be able to order on the table which doesn't bother me but come on Dhishoom, bring the old okra fries back, it's your star dish!

Been here so many times and every time has been lip smacking Indian food. This is one of the few Indian restaurants in London which has good quality tasty Indian food! <br/><br/>From all my experiences here, I would recommend vada pav, pav Bhaji, chilli chicken, prawn koliwada, butter chicken, black dal, roomali roti and the chocolate chai!<br/><br/>Not too fond of the breakfast options. Overall, scrumptious food!

Dishoom is the place you have to visit when you are in London. It was recommended by almost every Indian to me to definitely eat Indian food at Dishoom when in London.<br/>It usually has a lot of waiting time. Online bookings are only accepted for a group of more than 6. Walk-in otherwise. Be prepared to have a really long wait time which is usually an hour.<br/>Just when I was feeling that the place might just be a hype, it had the first byte of its Chole Puri, and mann! Such Indian delicacies in London after almost 3-4 days of eating bland food. It just turned to a paradise for the vegetarian me. A suzi halwa is also served with the Chole Puri, which was perfectly cooked.<br/>The Paneer roll was a little unsatisfactory, maybe because the Chole Puri set a really high standard.<br/>Going forward, the Chicken Biryani was another thing that was outstanding and perfectly cooked. This was the first boneless Chicken Biryani I had and it was cooked to perfection.<br/>Kudos to the Dishoom team to serve such great Indian food here in London.<br/><br/>Food - 5/5<br/>Service - 5/5<br/>Ambience - 5/5<br/><br/>Sure palace to go!

Finally made it to Dishoom after hearing so many rave reviews! Went for brunch and vegan options are limited, so I didn't get anything traqditionally Indian - I went for the granola and fire toast, which were both delicious! Simply wow...this place gave my bored Indian palate a life after surviving 3 days on fish n chips , sandwiches, English tea etc. (Ofcourse Lebanese food was a lifesaver until then). Located in a small by-lane of Oxford Street, this place took a while until we located it, eventually making us think if it would be even worth it. <br/>So in our final attempt , we finally got this place. The food is to die for- instantly gives a typical Bombay Irani Restaurant feeling. Everything is just amazing- the food, ambience, customer service etc. Definitely recommended - for all INDIAN food lovers...!

Amazing food and ambiance, the service was good enough and the bread was fresh. The only concern is that the food leaves you thirsty for a long time in which the amount of salt and spices must be reduced a bit in the food in order for customers to be able to go back more often

If you want outstanding modern Indian food in London this is the place to get it! Be sure to arrive with a solid dose of patience and being open to grabbing a pre-dinner drink especially if you get there around 8:30pm because you’ll have to wait for a table. There’s no point getting your knickers in a twist because the staff have a great system and do their best to seat you as quickly as possible according to your preferences (e.g. sitting inside or out). We were pleasantly surprised that our table was ready quicker than expected and let me tell you- it was worth the wait!! The food is delicious. I recommend the roti roll for something a bit different. The calamari starter is also a winner. Everything we ordered was of high quality and the service matched this. I overheard another customer mention that the brekky is “really good” so I will be back to try next time I’m in London! Very impressed.

Carnaby street , the ever happening and buzzing street with bars Resturant’s. We went to dishoom after 1 hour got the table. Well they are really busy and it’s true. <br/>They welcome children of all ages. The Resturant itself is huge , having more than 50-60 tables maybe more and on the left side they have the bar with the bar tables and food I served on the right. <br/><br/>In terms of service - it’s mixed found one really rude server , rest of them were nice. <br/>When we were assigned the table we asked someone if you can take the order - he replied ‘I WILL NOT YOUR SERVER WILL’ <br/>After this there were 6 different servers coming on our table with the food delivery. <br/>So if you don’t have one single server for the table then why so rude. The rest of the servers were nice. <br/><br/>One of the servers got the children to play with a board. That was nice , atleast that kept the kids busy and we could eat! <br/><br/>We ordered <br/>1. Black daal - 3.5/5 <br/>2. Paneer Kathi roll- 4.5/5 <br/>3. Chicken biryani - 4/5 <br/>4. Chicken curry - 4/5 <br/><br/>Overall a place buzzing with people and good aura. <br/><br/>Happy dining!

But here comes the thing which may effect your decision to plan a visit.<br/>The food is not as good as it seems. Went there to have a full lunch but sadly had to return after just an appetizer as it was as pathetic as it could be. I had ordered Dhishoom Chicken Tikka. Which was recommended as one of the best but sadly it was even worst then the ones you get cold packed at the departmental stores which you heat up in a microwave and eat.<br/>The mint sauce is all sweet.. Not one to always come back and write reviews, but I definitely want to let this one out. We’d always heard good stuff about Dishoom which is why we went there the first time and then 3 more times because of how great the food and vibe is. The 4th time, was however, different. Th restaurant might have been busy more than usual, so the naans that came our way were soggy. We ended up returning them and requested the staff to bring us fresh, warm ones. They were kind and warm enough to accept the mistake and instantly got us a fresh plate along with a free bowl of dal. In order to apologise, they offered us free dessert too. Since we didn’t want dessert, they made our drinks and starters free. <br/><br/>I’ve travelled the world and eaten at so many different kind of places but the hospitality and warmth these guys showed us yesterday was so real and endearing. They know they’re good but didn’t let that get to their head. It proves that while you have great food, you need great people to serve and service you. We’re fans and we’re definitely going to come back again and tell others to, too!

Easily one of my favourite London restaurants, Dishoom Carnaby does so much so well so it’s hard to disagree it being such a beloved institution of the city. I’ve done more than my share of Dishoom dining here, but this was a time that I did it right. That means prolific ordering of food, sharing and sampling everything and generally having one of the best food experiences you can have in London. Too strong? It is pretty good.

It was absolutely divine!!!flaky, steamy, so well marinated and with the slightly charred outer crust .. a definite repeat order.<br/>Lamb bhuna gosht- I guess since it was served with the Mahi tikka.. it felt a bit heavy, hard and chewy.. but by itself I think it is still worthy of a position on the repeat order list!<br/>We were full by the point but also tipsy.. so the orders flowed.. next was the chicken tikka roll.. with a all the spinach sticking out it did feel too healthy for this particular evening .. I took a bite and moved on to the very tempting jackfruit biryani!!!<br/>I could write a book on this.. why didn’t people conjure this magical combination much earlier.. khattel is the vegetarian’s response to meat and specially mutton.. oh and how it does not just match up but almost beat a mutton biryani hands down!! I would it order it every time I am in dishoom and visit dishoom just for this!!!<br/><br/>Grand finale- the chocolate pudding with Kashmiri chilli... was hot and cold, deliciously melt in the mouth and fiery, chilli , cool and creamy with the ice cream.. a speck of salt in the deep interiors of the chocolate pudding was like treasure and again with the chilli ice cream swirling in the mouth.. it was just magicAl!!! <br/><br/>All the cocktails were fabulous and so were the chai’s especially the decadent chocolate chai!!<br/><br/>Would I return? Went there on Easter Sunday. Had to wait for a few minutes but the staff was friendly. My son tried to order Chhole Bhatura but it was off the menu surprisingly (not sure why the would stop selling a very popular dish like this). Menu was not inspiring and it did not even have shahi paneer. Maa ki daal and mutter paneer were good - perfect balance of taste and spice.

Dishoom is always a safe bet and the Carnaby Street one happened to be located conveniently nearby when we were looking for a spot for late lunch. Like the others, this branch does not take bookings for small parties so all you can do is enquire and hope the wait isn’t too long. I can never get enough of the interior of Dishoom. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant where there is more light and it almost feels like you are dining on a patio somewhere in India.

Finger lickin' good!! I was in queue for 30 mins for a table but later found it was worth waiting so long. Don't worry you will be served a garam chai (Tea) and a sweet wine while you are in queue :) We had Paneer butter masala, cheese naan & garlic naan all pretty good authentic Indian taste.

Nice location in the middle of London. Very busy restaurant. We waited almost 30 minutes to be seated. We heard they have good breakfast. We had lunch and was good. We had vegetable samosas for starter. chicken baryani and better chicken as a main dish.

I really love the place it’s the best Indian food in London, the queue is really long. I had Chloe bature, dishoom calamari, vegetable samosa. Then we had house black dal which is finger licking. We had the veg biryani also which was nice, the desert pineapple and black pepper crumble was okayish. If you are Indian in London then it’s a must visit. The place reminded me of home, the decor was really nice. Some of the stuff was pretty pricey but food👌👌

Not always do I stand in a q for 45 mins for a table. I did it today. This place has got something right hence I was not the only one. People were okay to wait 1 hr +. Food is perfect. They have successfully been able to recreate the Indian Magic. No nonsense. No show buzz. Just plain and simple. Great food followed by great ambience and excellent service. A must visit if you are visiting the Queen !

A very long wait lining up outside the restaurant followed by a short one at the bar. A lovely light watermelon sharbat was a good preamble to the meal. Chilli cheese toast - a delightful surprise to see it masalafied and currified (literally) up. Paneer butter masala & garlic naan - a good job. Dal makhani - the soothing comfort that it claimed to be. Jackfruit biryani - the piece de resistance. We were on the receiving end of a pretty bad goof up but they were perfectly decent about it later on.

I wouldn't give it a 4.5 stars for this hyped up place !! Food is below average !!! Starters were good but the main course was really bad. Vada pau, bhel and prawn koliwadi wasn't bad but it wasn't that great that you don't get them in any other restaurants in London. The gunpowder potatoes and the jackfruit biryani were the worst !!! Malai murgh was high on salt and lamb boti kebab was just ok. You have better places in London where you get tastier food. Dishoom hasn't pleased me after waiting for an hour to get seated ;-(

The atmosphere was nice, dim but still a lot of thought out into the interior which I always appreciate. This is the kind of place you'd visit twice before leaving London. Although I would suggest they start taking reservations for large parties (say 7+ guests).

Would recommend booking otherwise come at quite times before dinner or after lunch. The ambiance is really pleasant. There are a lot of tables but you don't feel cramped and overcrowded. <br/><br/>Most importantly the food is delicious. We had samosas, the bhaji to start. Then the black lentil dhal (a house special and worth a try but be aware it's very creamy and rich), the paneer curry, vegetable biryani and the greens on the side (you may need a bit of freshness) but they are also really tasty. <br/><br/>The staff were busy but still attentive and helpful. <br/><br/>Definitely worth a visit if you want an Indian feast but probably book a table so you have some flexibility and ensure yourself a table.

I'd only been to the Dishoom in Covent Garden so the space in this one was surprising. It is huge compared to the former and there's lots of light. The food, as always, is delicious. If you can eat a little spice, try Vada Pav for starters and the house black dal is always awesome.

This place has my heart! <br/>Absolutely AMAZING! We had to wait in queue for an hour and were offered nimbu paani whilst waiting. Great gesture. So finally after we got in, we were told to wait at the bar and order some snacks if we'd like and so we did. Called for the okra fries (5/5)- I'd say they tasted extremely nice and warm and crunchy but they were pricey for the quantity. <br/>Then after we got a table we ordered the following: <br/>1) House chai (4/5)- Tasted amazing, just like home <br/>2) Chocolate chai (4/5)- Tasted nice but had a weird bitter after taste in the mouth. <br/>3) Chole bhature (4/5)- This was one of our most expensive mains but to our dismay we were only given 1 bhatura between two people. For a dish that comes for around 9.5£, we were expecting 2 bhaturas, but anyway it tasted great. <br/>4) House Daal (5/5)- Star of the meal. JUST ORDER IT. <br/>5) Veg Biryani (4/5)- great taste and quantity. <br/><br/>Overall, the place has amazing Indian food but it's costly and has very long waiting lines. <br/>Taste rating- 5/5<br/>Price rating 3/5

It was said that the old Irani Cafes of Bombay were a very popular place to gather back in the 1960s. A big majority has already disappeared due to competition from modern cafes and fast food restaurants. That is the inspiration and concept behind Dishoom. Located at Kingly Street, Carnaby, Dishoom has just launched their fourth branch in 2015. The business is booming and has shown to be very successful but it’s not just all about profits. This place came to my attention because of a charity project they did during Ramadan where they decided to perform their zakat by donating meals to the less fortunate children. They fed two children for every meal that was served and was able to donate a total of 160,000 meals by the end of the Holy month. Then at Diwali, they pledged to feed a hungry child for each guest served. At the end of the year they have donated over a quarter of a million meals to for children in India and East London. Seeing the success of this, they have pledged to do this every year in order to help those in need.

Recommended by my friends born and bread in the city I managed to wait in the line to Dishoom while being served the traditional chai which helped us to get into the Bombay spirit :) the starters ordered at the bar were incredible, especially the Calamari although Okra and prawns were a little bit too salty. The staff was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere inside truly exotic. <br/>Prices can seem high but for the location and the quality of the food totally understandable. <br/>Will definitely come back, even with Indian friends, I'm sure Dishoom chefs won't disappoint me!

Over an hour wait. Suffocating inside the restaurant it was very well close to 80 degrees inside. The hostesses were rude. The ambiance was loud. Poorly poorly poorly managed. A place that I've been meaning to visit for ages after rave reviews from siblings. Lives up to the hype if a little on the expensive side. However excellent lamb chops and "gunpowder" potatoes, that left you on just the right side of full. Dishoom 👊🏻you get knocked out by the ambience of this place. It's kinda hybrid of a Indian ambience and a British decor, it's seems more like a chilled out bar with dim lighting and laid back atmosphere. It's always packed, so be prepared to wait for your turn. They give you a buzzer which will go off like a alarm when your table is ready. Till then, you can enjoy some drinks, chai, and sides at the bar. If you happen to wait outside due to lack of space, then you earn a free serving of ☕️ chai. The place is huge, and it nowhere looks like a Indian setup. Indian restaurants are like ghazals playing in the background or a Hindi movie on the television set or Walls decorated from pictures of India. This place definitely questions the status quo by keeping the food Indian and the ambience simply British. We had ordered for Prawns koliwada, chicken tikka, chicken curry and biryani. All the foodstuffs were really tasty, especially the prawns koliwada. The waiters were polite, helpful and did their job really well. Our experience with Dishoom was really memorable. 😊

This branch is not as big as the one at kingscross. The service is average. Food tastes same as the other branches (See my review for Dishoom at kings cross ). I would personally recommend to try the kings cross branch, if you have time to travel.

This dishoom is one of the newest branches! The retro Indian vibes, the cheeky writings on the wall and impeccable service. The food is spot on, and you can never have just one cup of their house chai which is why they do unlimited refills. The ambiance of this branch is really nice with a courtyard space being a personal favourite. <br/><br/>Dishoom Carnaby marks for the perfect after shopping lunch place. Dishoom has grown rapidly in the last few years since they first opened their doors in 2010. With a unique twist of Indian and Iranian food, Dishoom definitely stands out. A very important thing to note is that the food is Halal so it caters to a wider community too. I went for a lunch at the Carnaby Street branch a while back during their soft launch and we hadn’t booked a table. Although the queue looked very long we were inside in 35 minutes. Whilst a bunch of us were waiting in the cold they brought out some of their lovely signature spicy chai to keep us warm.

Very good Indian restaurant. I was however expecting something incredible because of the reputation of the chain but still the food was good. Definitely get the chocolate pudding and the cinnamon ice cream, that was incredible! <br/>I found the portions quite small and not ideal for sharing, but the prices were reasonable for such a famous place. <br/>I am not sure I will come back but it's definitely a place you should try at least once !

l have now been here twice to the soho branch and I noticed the menu has changed and now has more variety. Food is better than before but service is still at the low end with poor door staff who smile but don't really seem to care and serving staff who don't always take the right order and one spilled a drink all over one guest. Just be happy with the food and be prepared for the service and you will be fine. Food as I say much better than my last visit so I will go again and would still recommend a visit.

This is the 4th dishoom I have had food at in london and needless to say it never disappoints. A 30 minute wait on sunday is quite normal. For a change I tried a few cocktails at the bar while waiting and they add a much preferred coolness to the british summer.

We have dead tired, when we went to this place for kind of evening snack. The moment we saw the food/presentation, we were refreshed. Chole bathura is one dish you can't miss. It tastes much better than any place in india.

We asked the front desk at our hotel for restaurant recommendations. "Dishooms," we were told, "it's one of the best Indian restaurants in London." Ok cool, we will give it a go. It took us 3 tries to finally get in, not wanting to queue up for 45min for dinner. We went early, around 4:30pm and walked right in. The food was good but really, is this the best London has to offer? I think the aura is more local lore than objective critique, but it is still a tasty treat after a day of wandering the streets of Soho. Do I recommend it? YES! Is it as good as they say it is? Sure, but keep in mind The Brits also think fish and chips are good.

My first blog post goes to one of my favourite restaurants in London (as well as many other Londoners judging by the queues!). I have been eagerly anticipating the opening of the newest addition to the growing Dishoom family-Dishoom Carnaby. The newest member is located on Kingly Street in the heart of London surrounded by some of the quirkiest restaurants, shops and bars the city has to offer. Carnaby has been calling for an Indian-Iranian street food restaurant like this for a while and this will be a fantastic addition to the buzzing area. Cinnamon Soho (another Indian restaurant a few doors down from Dishoom) has big competition ahead.

THIS RESTAURANT IS DA BOMB!!!!!!! <br/><br/>The restaurant's design is very casual but lively. It isn't the casual restaurants that look cheep instead it looks so chic. <br/><br/>Every vegetable dish was so good 😭 <br/><br/>Keema: is lamb with Indian spices that is cut into very very small pieces that it eventually turns into a mash. Comes with a small piece of bread (aka POWs) 4.5/5<br/><br/>Dall: is also a vegetarian dish made of Dall and spices that are just mouthwatering. It is perfectly seasoned which is considered an achievement since seasoning Dall is very tricky. Comes with a small piece of bread ( aka POWs) 5/5<br/><br/>Sabgy: is a plate of vegetables that is seasoned and is also like a mash. It is well seasoned and slightly spivey. I loved how light it feels in the stomach. 5/5<br/><br/>Chicken Biryany: the biryani was well spiced but the chicken wasn't that tasty to be honest. The spices were sharply balanced but again the chicken wasn't good. 3.5/5<br/><br/>Chicken curry: the chicken tastes delicious and was cut into reasonable and medium sized pieces. The spices in the sauce again were balanced but I think it was heavy 4.5/5<br/><br/><br/><br/>Mango ice cream: the idea of this ice cream is very creative. It is done in the restaurant and is put on sticks. You can LITERALLY taste the mango and it's so refreshing. 5/5

Gave us chai tea or cherry whilst we were queuing outside for five mins, helped us with dietary requirements, explained the menu, suggested dishes on the menu, cocktails were so good, food tasted as always-amazing.

Coming across the lines at this place on an earlier evening, we knew something good must be cooking (pardon the pun). So the very first free evening that followed we dragged ourselves down to Soho to check it out. What ensured was probably the best dining experience of the entire holiday. The entrees of okra fries and vegetable samosas were flavoursome, but it was the mains of lamb chops and chicken tikka that really hit the spot. Dessert wasn't too bad either, so I suppose the overall winner was our stomachs .... Yours too if you end up going!
We Love Food, It's All We Eat
We hate to be unfair and write a blog post about a restaurant during its most challenging time – their soft launch. But we’re going to anyway because the restaurant is Dishoom and we love it unconditionally. This is despite them giving me one of the most horrendous and humiliating hangovers of my life at the Kings Cross branch launch party and the putting us through the occasional (but well worth) queue.<br/><br/>It was five years ago that we first discovered Dishoom, thanks to Marina O’Loughlin’s column in Metro. It’s no coincidence that it was around the same time that we started We Love Food. We’ve visited over 500 restaurants since that point but when we’re asked what our favourite London restaurant is (which is practically every time we meet a fellow food lover), Dishoom is always up there, yet we can never remember the last restaurant we visited.<br/><br/>It’s not just the food, it’s the story behind it, the people who bought it to life and the feeling it gives us. We’ve never set foot on Indian soil (we will one day…) but it somehow feels like coming home every time we visit, even if it’s a new branch like Carnaby. The familiarity is there, along with the smiles and their we-want-it-all menu.<br/><br/>Back when they were ‘younger’ and came up with the idea of the Chowpatty beach pop-up, we were treated to a sneak preview. As we sat looking at the plans of the site, the excitement of Dishoom’s owners was infectious and admirable. We don’t really get these opportunities any more but we can sense that this enthusiasm remains, possibly even more so than it ever did.<br/><br/>So we headed down to the fourth branch with our good friend Keith last Sunday, who was with us when we first went to Dishoom, half a decade ago. Our aim was to get there before the breakfast menu finishes at 12pm but judging by the stream of people, the chances of us making the deadline were getting slimmer by the second. We’d travelled up from Kent with train engineering works just for this so we were praying to be in luck.

The setting of the restaurant is also worth taking note of - it is super cozy and it's an elevated, elegant version of a traditional Bombay cafe. It is very charismatic and is perfect to relax with friends.

I love Dishoom. I practically work above the newest outpost and waited patiently for what felt like years for it to open. During the soft launch period I was SWAMPED with work (sod’s law) and never made it down there for 50% off before the mobs arrived each day – I’m very temperamental with queuing for a table, even if it is for lush, juicy Indian treats.

The soft opening of Dishoom Soho is a landmark for the Indian restaurant that has become a London favourite. We were lucky enough to be some of the first customers at the launch which offered a generous 50% off. From the outside, Dishoom follows the same style of its other restaurants but from inside it's more classy, modern and chic. The staff are attentive, welcoming and eager however being a soft opening the service needs a little finessing. <br/><br/>The food as always was outstanding (for more see the blog at hashtagfatinside.com/2015/09/dishoom.html?m=1), though the dish that failed to impress was the branches chefs speciality, the Sali Roti, which lacked the range of flavours to make it a top dish like so many others on the menu. <br/><br/>The new restaurant opening is testament to Dishoom being a class above the rest with a creative concept, a vibrant atmosphere and exceptional food. The restaurant is my favourite Indian in London and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!
