Perfect cozy pub with history. We sat upstairs with nice view . The lunch specials are very tasty. Our server, wish I had gotten the lady’s name, was very friendly even though all the tables were full and she was hustling.

Very nice pub with a great selection of beers.
Warm atmosphere, helpful staff and delicious food.
It's ideal for a lunch break or meeting with your friends.
Usually it's quite busy but service is fast and helpful.

The waitress upstairs needs a medal for all the people she served she moved tables for people she had a smile on her face. The service was quick. Sadly my wife’s steak and ale pie had a lot of gristle in it. The waitress change it for a chicken pie. But overall good Neckoil friendly staff Busy pub

Stopped in for lunch while in the area. Cool old English pub vibe (for this Yank family anyway). Beautiful old building and bar. Standard pub fare with fish and chips and various pies. Steak and Nicholson’s pie was excellent with tasty meaty bits, flavorful gravy, and a flaky crust. Piping hot! Sticky toffee pudding for desert was a small portion but the best we’ve had while town. Recommended if you are in the area.

Scott was our server, and he was wonderful! He was very friendly and helpful, both regarding the food and drink selections, as well as regarding our questions as tourists. The food and drinks were excellent as well. We will definitely return to this place the next time we are in London!

The next stop on our journey to gain additional British pub knowledge led us to “Ye Olde Watling.”
Talk about humble beginnings, it was built by Sir Christopher Wren after the Great Fire of London destroyed the prior building on this site.
This historic pub first opened its doors in 1668 and the construction plans for St. Paul’s Cathedral (just down the way) were drawn up in what is now their dining room.
This cozy setting is a great place to escape the rain and take a respite from your sightseeing adventures.
And that’s…Henry’s Take.

The serving team and waiters were really good I think you need to raise their pay because they are doing really good bringing your pub a enthusiastic vibes attracting more customers like me.

I've been here a few times for lunch. The pies are great, proper pastry, generous filling and tasty. However, on my last visit I noticed the portions have got smaller, and it didn't seem as well prepared as previous. But nevertheless a good lunch even though a bit expensive. Good selection of ales. Staff are pleasant.

Outstanding atmosphere, food, and beers at this traditional pub. Scott treated these two old tourists like family, making us feel very much at home. Cheers

A fine olde pub built by local builder Sir Christopher Wren when he had a day off from working on the old cathedral down the road, the road being Watling Street with all its Roman connotations. Timbers from salty old battleships feature extensively. It is a lovely place with a fine offering of ales. Seven cask ales on offer! in these post? Plague times, well done. There is also plenty of variety from the kegs and wines galore for the grape lovers. All served with a smile by the efficient friendly staff. What could you not like. A delightful visit.

Walked in at 6pm and was immediately helped by a staff member who overheard me saying to my friend "I wonder if the kitchen is still open", thanks guy with the curly hair and earrings. Kindly directed us upstairs where Mike (?) helped us with getting seated and was kind enough to bring us beer tasters because my friend wasn't sure which drink he should order. Mike was super nice throughout the entire dining experience. Food was superb: chicken pot pie was flavourful and the pasty was both perfectly flakey. Friend loved his shepherds pie. Would recommend!

Food was excellent and service was fair. We had the best fish and chips of our entire trip here!

We had an excellent experience. We were in London only for the day, walked all, and stumbled upon this place on our way to St. Paul's Cathedral. Sat in the bar area by the window. The bartender was super friendly, even gave us recommendations where else we could visit in London, being it was our 1st time there. Fish n chips were very good!

A pub where Christopher Wren used to work after the great fire of London in 1666.
Food is always at high standards when the tall chef cooks. Well done. Keep it up 👆🏻

If you plan to own a pub or any service business Scott is the benchmark for AWESOME. If you are in the area or in London you should drop by - you will not regret it.
