I always pass Beam on my way to work and finally got a chance to go. It was fairly busy but there were still tables free, it was nice that the staff gave us a choice to sit further in the cafe or near the entrance. My friend ordered a smoothie and I got the gluten free buttermilk pancakes (half stack). I decided to not get bacon with it and was asked if I'd like to replace it with anything else. I wasn't sure what was on offer so I asked and the staff kindly suggested that banana was a good replacement so I went for that instead :) would love to come by again and get their full breakfast dishes.

Such a lovely breakfast, incredibly tasty and well made. I had the Turkish eggs which were to die for. Espresso was bang on and great quality. Have to say was rather pricey at £41 for 2 people, so will save for special occasions.

Great food, we loved both the brunch dishes we got and portions were generous. Prices corresponding to the size and quality, so fair. The place is nicely made and feels comfy. Ambient is not bad but feels (not asked) a bit in a rush like things need to move fast. I would prefer a more cosy chilling vibes. Would visit again for sure.

A great crouch end restaurant for breakfast and lunch. You can come here for something as simple as a flat white or to meet with a large group over lunch.
The restaurant is consistently busy so try to plan ahead accordingly. Everything I’ve had on the menu so far has been great and I’d highly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch.

I’m a regular local of Beam and have always had a great experience. Prices have gone up in the past year but you can guarantee quality and good service.
There is always a queue (for a good reason) but I’ve always been seated with only a short wait.
I’ve eaten Turkish eggs, shakshuka and the full breakfast all delivered to high standards.

Gorgeous brunch spot, really great food and drinks. AMAZING service, the friendliest waiting staff I’ve had in ages. Special shout out to Donald for being so nice and giving us kinder eggs to cure our hangovers!!

Great brunch place with friendly staff. Really good coffee and atmosphere although the brunch we ordered Benedict & Shakshuka were a bit sour to our taste.

So glad I read the reviews for this place. Someone recommended the chicken salad which I ordered and it was delicious. My friend had the goat's cheese and beetroot salad which was equally tasty. Lively ambience abundance generous portions. We just about finished it all. Will return there for sure. Prices reasonable compared to similar places I've eaten at. Good and quick service. Only disappointment was the amount of loo paper left on the floor of the toilet by other customers.

THEY TRIED TO CON ME WITH FAKE MONEY!!! BEWARE!!!
I've been a regular for years at that place and have always paid by card.
Last time I went, I happened to have cash on me, fresh from the bank. I paid with a 50£ note. The waiter took it to the till without me paying too much attention. At one point, I glanced at the woman (I guess, the owner) going through the till and I thought she was preparing my change.
But lo and behold, the bill came back to me, FAKE, which was now VERY obvious. I found myself a bit dumbfounded and I even felt stupid for not realizing I had given them such an obvious fake. I felt there and then that something was wrong, I hesitated but what could I do, so ended up paying by card. I clearly remember everyone looking at me from behind the till, especially the woman.
But after thinking about it, it just didn’t make any sense. The bill came from the bank and being a very observant person, I knew I couldn’t have been fooled by a fake so different than the other ones. It was crumpled, while my other bills where flat, it was badly printed, it had pinkish colour and a very different feel than a regular bill. By chance I also happened to have a photo of the bill on my phone from a few days earlier! So I knew at that point they had swapped it. But then it was my word against theirs.
I came back to ask to have a look at the cctv and they made me come back an hour later saying only the manager had access to it and was away. I came back an hour later only to be told the manager had came back in the meantime and already left and I had to come back the next day. At that point they made me feel like I was annoying and the waiter looked pissed. Nice.
When I did come back the next day they were all super awkward, the manager instantly apologized, and tried to minimise it and justify it telling me a story that didn't really make sense. The lady at the till didn’t dare to look at me and felt clearly uncomfortable. He refunded me and gave me a voucher on top. Apparently the cctv showed the "mistake" swap at the till but of course I didn't get to have a look at it for myself.
They clearly tried to con me, and this is totally unacceptable. What a shame...
It makes you wonder how many times they got away with it when people are less sure of it or don't live around and can't come back to make things straight.
On the food side, it won't be a great loss not to come back as it's pretty average to be honest.
Stay away from that place and don't pay cash if you go.

Really like this place. Second time here. Had fried breakfast and it was fantastic. Then eggs royals. That was also great. The service was super swift and the delivery of the food was the same. Generally a nice place.

Beam Cafe is big. For Crouch End. It's also always busy. I opted for the Mediterranean breakfast (for lunch) because I can never resist the list of ingredients. It arrived on a huge plate and was a pretty eclectic mix.

Went for Weekend brunch - impressed by large portions, generously put together with crusty breads, soft, fluffy eggs and deliciously seasoned food all 'round...

Cafe Beam is a great catalyst for catch ups and a bite to eat with its big portion sizes, comfortable and inviting atmosphere and mismatched, quirky decor.

It's cosmopolitan clipboard-menu offers up breakfast, brunch, deli delights & mains with a little something for everyone.

Upon my lunchtime visit I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli, which was a little heavy on the parmesan for my taste but was nonetheless nice enough.

My friend and I shared a gorgeous halloumi salad with this divine tahini & walnut dressing... Being a big lover of all things halloumi related, I loved it!

To drink, I had a refreshing glass of freshly squeezed orange juice which hit the spot perfectly.

All in all, I had a lovely time at Cafe Beam with its informal day time appeal. I'll definitely be returning with a friend and an empty stomach!
