We had a really pleasant Sunday lunch at The Crown recently. It was our first visit. The dining area is very welcoming with high ceilings and lots of light. The food was tasty and hearty - what we were looking for. It seemed to be relatively good value compared to other London gastropubs we have visited recently. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and had a great attitude.

I love this place. I went here during the weekday, and it wasn’t so crowded. The food was excellent, and the staffs were super friendly and cool. I’d come back in the future.

Great steak and ale pie with a crust that is flaky and not dry. The filling was generous and flavourful. The mash that accompanied it was creamy and the gravy was just right.
The battered fish was crispy with a light batter on the outside with moist flesh on the inside.
The chips were are top notch as well.
The waiter were patient enough to explain the kind of beers and cocktails they offer when we were unfamiliar.

The pub is located in a lovely, peaceful neighbourhood. It rarely gets super busy. It's the perfect place to go for some quiet and have a good beer and delicious food away from the Islington high street crowd. Staff and the service was impeccable. Fish and chips was delicious, a bit pricey in my opinion but the quantities were reasonable. Definitely recommended!

Had a Sunday roast here. The veg, potatoes, Yorkshire was all nice. The meat was a little bit bland, but still not bad. The man serving us was very pleasant and very attentive. Good price for the meal too. Overall we enjoyed our meals and we would go back again. 8/10 :)

The food is always spot on, the portions are generous, steaks always succulent and flavourful, the schnitzel is cooked to perfection!
A friendly place to visit where your pooch is welcome and your kids too!
Compliments to the chefs

This is genuinely one of my favourite pubs in London. The food is great, the staff are nothing short of lovely. The reason I’ve put 4 stars is genuinely only due to the price of beer. I’d expect to pay £6.70 for a pint of craft beer, but not for a pint of Guinness.

Lovely venue. Staff were friendly, and the manager was excellent. They have Sierra Nevada on tap, which is fantastic. Also enjoyed a delicious pint of Frontier lager from Fuller's.
Drink quality was perfect. Service quality was perfect. Value for money? Absolutely!
Highly recommend. 10/10.

Good to feel that traditional English pub vibe. Food was definitely up to par and the service was wonderful. Would definitely pop back for a Sunday roast again

Went for Christmas dinner. Food was really lovely and fresh, much better than your usual pub food often heated up from frozen. The salmon probably could have had a bit more extras otherwise it was like eating sashimi without the soysauce and wasabi but otherwise it was a lovely. Got to try the cheesecake as well and it would be tough choice next time as pear tart was delicious. The pub allows dogs which is nice

We walked in for a Sunday roast at about 4pm, were seated by friendly folks within 10 minutes and were served the MOST DELICIOUS roasts. I CLEANED my plate. I LOVED the lavishly generous serving of gravy on my perfectly succulent roast beef. The potatoes, the cabbage, the carrots and parsnip—what a meal. My boyfriend’s vegetarian version of the Sunday roast with a sweet potato and cheese stack leaves no vegetable-eater out of this delightful experience. I had the apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla cream for pudding. I could have drank the cream straight. I am thoroughly impressed by the dining, wine and atmosphere and sweet Sunday Roast gods I thank you for blessing me with this experience.

Great little pub in Islington. The menu regularly updated as the seasons change but the food is always excellent. As is the beer. This place is great in the summer because of the terrace out the front. Would really recommend the Sunday lunch.

The Crown. Sad.. While visually, a charming, Victorian pub with good food, the service leaves a lot to be desired…. I’ve been a regular there for over 10 years and sadly, it’s now pretending to be something it’s not and is at the stage where if something is not right or you need to make a complaint, you are in the wrong. Instead taking feedback from a regular, (formerly) loyal customer, they will try to argue their way out of it. To prove a point. Even over a slice of bread. No apology, no grace, and one regular customer less. This has happened a few times recently. Perhaps Mary Portas will turn to pubs and come sort them out? Instead of sorting the problem and smoothing things over, you will end us leaving with an even worse experience. Ultimately, it is part of a chain and the mentality born of corporate training reigns. If you don’t like it, don’t come back. It’s a waste of what used to be a great gastro pub but there a lot of other options nearby so unless you’re the type never to complain, don’t waste your time with The Crown. I won’t. I’m so done, Fullers need a new word for done.

Jo was less impressed with her ham hock salad which was tasty but a somewhat measly portion of meat and greens.

After a meal at The Albion a couple a weeks ago with a couple of friends, we were walking down Cloudesley Road towards Sainsbury when we passed by The Crown . "Now, that's a decent pub," one of them quipped. One thing about Islington is that it is never short of pubs. The local variety, the chain pubs, those catered to

Great pub! The food menu is amazing and changing regularly, depending on seasons. The choice of biers is vast and also changing. You can easily go there often and you'll always get something new to try! Only downside being that the pub is a bit expensive!
