Steak and ale pie was not bad. The filling was a slightly on the thin side. The crust thick and very hard. I had to wait more than 20 minutes for it. It was surprisingly satisfying and not bad. Otherwise staff service was good and the atmosphere was lively.

Traditional pub, very nice atmosphere, historical spirit.
Burger, fish and chips, IPA and Guinness, everything was ok, without waiting (during Friday's evening). Recommended.

Great restaurant, great taste of food. The only negative point is that we waited for 45min, when we were warned about 30min of wait. A little bit much regarding the number of people here just to drink. Otherwise it was perfect, the lady is incredibly kind.

It's British food. What do you need to know? The girls I went here with were cool. Four of them used to be Mormon and the other is secular. I became friends with the secular one and we keep in touch. She lives in Ohio, I live in Texas. We had a fun pub crawl the next day. Her, I and this Vegan from Chicago. First Mexican vergan I have met. Oxymoron? Not sure.
I really enjoyed getting fish n chips with her and a pint. Although, she had the most vile looking nachos I have laid my eyes upon. Don't eat Mexican food in England, kiddos. The best part of that day was probably having 14 alcoholic bevies. I was so lost in the sauce. Maybe I will return to London as a vagabond. Goals? We will see. I sure do miss the gin and tonic.

Always a decent pub, the bar staff could have been a little more attentive

A great pub with a great selection of classic pub food. The service was great and the food was tasty. There is a decent amount of seating but it can get very busy, especially when live sport is on.

Lovely place but the queue were a bit too much and we waited a bit long at the bar. The atmosphere and outside sitting was amazing. Draught beer is was very nice.

Very tasty food in a typical pub atmosphere. Highly recommend the fish and chips and the burger. It's all ok. However, the toilet area could use some cleaning. Then everything would be perfect.

Was very busy but the friendly staff managed to seat us. Nice venue although I found the burger to be a little dry.

Cheery staff, nice traditional English pub, I've been going here for over 40 years and it's survived pretty well although could do with a lick of paint

We were walking around Carnaby street and stopped in to get out of the rain. Great food and Paula was nice enough to take pity on us and provide us with umbrellas they had laying around as we hadn’t brought any with us. Thank you Paula.

Just had a couple of beers in this beautiful old pub

What happened to a great pub beer ok but the food was so so poor.
Ordered large fish and chips, seen smaller sardines, the curry sauce came straight out of the fridge when questioned the staff looked vague then snatched the pot blitzed it & came back an incinerated pot of crud.
When asked about a the bread & butter told it would follow, it did half way through the meal.
Very disappointing will not be returning.

A pint of lager and a pint of lager shandy £12.40!! £6.20 for a lager shandy that was made with soda water not lemonade.
Ordered jacket potato with tuna/cheese.
Only able to eat half of the potato as is was hard/uncooked.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend.
I know prices in London are more than the average, but that is ridiculous!

Watched Scotland beat France here and got a free pint for being the only Scottish fan in the place. Winner winner chicken dinner! Fine beer and good screens for watching the rugby.

Went in with my sister for a meal before seeing a show at the London Palladium, we both ordered the steak and it was absolutely delicious, staff were friendly and welcoming, will definitely come back and highly recommended it.

had a deconstructed cup of tea, cup of hot water and a tea bag. Nothing special, any idiot can boil some water and put it in a cup

Typical pub but with above par food. The decor was fun and the air conditioning was much appreciated! Reasonably priced. Waitress was very helpful.

Nice pub in the center of Soho district, between Oxford Street and Carnaby street. We arrived there to have a short break during our shopping session. We drank two typical English beers and saw the football match Tottenham vs Everton. The pub has a distinctive English style, where everything is made in wood and no service at table. If you want to eat something you can go upstairs.

Good pub for drinks when touring around the soho area! I love the atmosphere around it so it's awesome for the bing a bear and standing outside and enjoying the vibe and the lack of cars. However, not the best place to get food. It was mediocre and not satisfying enough that I would recommend to dine there.

Not going to lie: I decided to give the Shakespeare's Head a go purely because I am a literary fanatic with a bit of an obsession with everything Shakespeare!

With a bust of Shakespeare's head poking out from the upper window like a wooed Juliet herself, you find yourself pulled in by the magic and wonder of the history and the literature itself (well, I was anyway!) Large red canopies cover the teaming outdoor crowd and the beautiful brick exterior and thatched windows truly transport you back in time. You can just imagine wondering your way in for a drunken sit down and chat back in the mid 1700s!

I only opted for a cider after a late Saturday stroll around Carnaby street, which hit the spot. That being said, the food being served around us certainly smelled good, like good old fashioned, greasy pub food. May have to come back for some Fish and chips (I'm sure the next time I have any literary visitors, I will get the chance!)

The name itself captures attention and lures one inside. In the heart of Carnaby street, the place was packed downstairs - as it should be for a Thursday evening. They have seating upstairs - quiet and infused with old world English charm. One of the pubs I would keep in mind for quality sit down time with the perks of pubbing. Staff, for some reason, does not smile. But otherwise, this is a great place to go to.

I havent really had the food here - so perhaps its not fair to judge the place based purely on the ambience & the crowd. It is located in a fairly busy part of town, right beside the high street so tends to have plenty of people inside at any time. The one thing that doesnt feel great though is how these days it has become standard to pay £5 for a pint of lager and this is one of those places where you have to fork that amount out. The inside of the pub does feel surprisingly & it doesnt have any loud music playing (not on weekdays anyway) so it is a decent place for a meet up with someone where you can talk without having to shout.
