Classic Chinese place to be honest don't expect anything amazing but it not bad, you should know what you are getting here. If you want a decent amount of food for cheap, this is the place for you. I wasn't too impressed with the sweet and sour chicken, way too much sauce, lots of rice not much of anything else. The outstanding dish was the salt and pepper squid, that was incredible. I would be back just for that for sure.

Quick & friendly service. I had the Beef in Blackbean sauce Ho Fun, very flavourful, big portion & saucy the way I like it. My partner had the Stir Fried Vermicelli with Duck & Roast Pork, also flavoursome and hearty. Definitely coming back :)

Tai Won Mein means big bowl of noodles.
As a Chinese from south China/HK, I can assure you the beef fried flat noodles 乾炒牛河is authentic. Remember to order a small plate of chilly oil, mixing with the noodle is the best. The noodle has a lot of beef vegetable. Overall the portion is very generous. If you’re not a big fan of flat noodle, you can ask to replace with egg noodles.
The Singaporean style chow mein 星洲炒米 is also very nice. Curry beef rice is also good.
The stuff here speaks Cantonese, Mandarin an English. They seem to be in a rush all the time, but they are actually very nice staff. Remember they only take cash.
Jason McColm
Fried Rice, Beef Ho Fun, fried calamari, they make them all really good. No credit card accepted though so be mindful of that. 10/10 for portion size. Ask for their Chili oil too!

Excellent service!! Apart from the great variety of food to choose from, this restaurant offers a number of tables with street views. Service is prompt and friendly. They are a cash-only service so go prepared. There are a number of free cash withdrawals available nearby, just in case. Highly recommend the Chicken Chowmein (large portion size). The fried prawn toast with sesame is oily but quite delicious and filling.
Shahzad Nayani
Excellent food hands down. Had the beef with ho fun in soup. Flavorful broth, melt in your mouth beef, fresh greens, and punchy chilli oil. Service is fast and efficient and the place is pretty nice and clean.
The only negative is that they are a cash-only establishment.

Are you in budget and want delicious, fresh quality food? Look no further
Tai won mein is literally 5 mins walking from cutty sark station and opposite greenwich market. This place is no frills, eat and go kind if place.
All the servers are friendly and helpful. Their menu are in English and with description of the food.
We ordered soup, dumplings, tofu and chicken fried rice.
Dumplings are one of the best I ever had. Dumplings were plumpy, juicy and full of flavour.(this should be must)
Deep fried tofu was crunchy outside and soft and gooey inside. Rice and soup were delicious too. I will definitely come this place again.
FYI…The restaurant only accept cash. If you dont cash, there is a atm just nearby.

If you're going here, you need to go very hungry!! 'Cause the plate portions are large...at least for main meals. Good food. Requested for additional pepper which was provided. Cheeful service
Ayotunde Shashi
Tasty food and big portions. Better value than the various street food offerings in the area. Why eat standing up outdoors when you can sit down and access facilities? Restaurant is basic but clean and well presented. Only downside is that it is CASH ONLY.
Kam Kamli
Fresh delicious food served quick by friendly and helpful staff.
Orders drinks, starters and mains.
The portions are very generous so we needed take away boxes for the left overs. Each box is 50p.
The fresh juices are absolutely yum. I ordered the fresh orange juice. Fresh juices are £3.30 each.
So pleased the restaurant is still going strong after the lock down. This was a regular for me si will be coming more often now.

Good food! You definitely get what you pay for with main meals and a very quick service. The restaurant is clean also.
The fizzy drinks tasted like they were poured out of a bottle - bit steep for £2.50. Also, a bit cheeky that it’s cash only.
However, cheap and cheerful can’t complain!
Thomas Godfrey
Honestly the best Chinese restaurant ever. Great value and big portions with friendly staff. Cash only though 10/10.

Went here with family after being disappointed from another local Chinese restaurant. Food here was great with a nice clear and easy to understand menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we all received our food in good time. Everyone enjoyed their meal and for all 7 of us including drinks (2 of us ordered water) the bill came to just over £82!!
Would definitely recommend and will come back again!!

I used to come here over 15 years a go during college so my friends and I thought we'd visit again today. To our surprise food was still just as good. Large portions and very good prices. Love the freshly squeezed juices, ho fun rice noodle dishes and the deep fried calamari and salt and pepper tofu really good too.
The décor looks exactly as it did since it has been opened, very clean with screen dividers to separate tables.
One thing to note is that this restaurant accepts cash only. But there is a cash point just outside towards the DLR station.
I would definitely come here again when I'm craving a value for money Chinese meal.

If you are around Greenwich and you are looking for Chinese food this is the place to go, a couple of things to keep in mind before going.
They only take cash and they will charge 50p extra if you want to take your leftovers with you, for me, this is pretty unusual but if that is not a problem for you don't think twice.
We ordered:
Amazing pork Dumplings. Good size and the come with their sauce.
Vegetable mix noodles. Enormous size and if you are vegan this is perfect because they ask you if you want it with egg or not.
Pork and Duck noodles, amazing flavor as well and the size is incredible.
In conclusion, if you want a lot of food at a good price and have cash come here.
Shan
I use to love this place. The noodles is greasy and the new staff aren't too friendly. Don't buy any drinks here because it's overpriced and watered down. Even the water they definitely get out of a tap and fill up Evian bottles. If you buy starters and mains they don't even bring out the starters first then the mains after. The food comes out really quick even if they are busy. Anyway place is nice.

My experience at this restaurant was kinda weird as the coke was flat from the bottle and you couldn’t by cans but you could only use them as a takeaway. The food was very average and the waitress sometimes forgot that we ordered a side plate and we had to ask her again for other simple things like a knife and folk!
Storm Cdm
Good food, fast on serving, and very fair prices for Greenwich. On and around in this area only here you will be well served and not cry your money. You won’t leave disappointed.

Had been toh tai won mein and its a nyc restaurant try Chinese cuisine and Chinese food was yummy and delicious tried noodles with soup and fried noodles with roast duck and some house red wine and carlsberg 🍺

Visited for a quick take away and opted for 'Fried Ho Fun with Chicken'. Heads up this place is Cash only. Got the food in 5-7 mins and here goes the experience
- Fried Ho Fun with Chicken: Ho fun is home made flat rice noodles. It was kinda soft but chicken was very chewy and had big chunks which actually ruined all the experience.

Overall, can try more stuff but not this one as i hate chewy chicken in my food.
António Dias Costa
"Cheap" with exagerated portions. Chicken satay wasn't so good and exagerated portion makes you full just by looking at it. Soup was good though with exagerated portion of noodles. Not so convinced.
Gone Sun Where
A super casual chinese restaurant serving decent food. There are a good amount of options on the menu. Reasonably priced and standard service.
Johnny Pan
This place is what I call value for money. The portions are enormous and typical traditional Chinese food, would go back here again and again

We had spent a good chunk of our weekend in Greenwich and to complement that, we were on the hunt for a good chunk of food to feel spent on. Tai Won Mein on Greenwich Church Street was an appealing spot with many a crowd around. The vibe is cheap and cheerful and upon being seated the staff have a refreshing directness that makes you certain of it’s authenticity. The food order sizes are massive, making for the usual value for money and the three of us shared two dishes. One was my choice of the Fried Hor Fun with beef (£6.20) and the other was the restaurant namesake, Tai Won Mein (£7.20). As a non-seafoodie, it was never my dish, but I did find the broth here a bit bland regardless. And also majorly lacking flavour was the fried hor fun. No denials on the sheer mass of food, but could have done with a lot more soy, salt, garlic, greenery or something. The blandness was a bit disappointing that made eating a bit of a chore. I probably would have been willing for some MSG-ness, even. The sweet and sour dishes around us looked great, so maybe worth another go and ordering different.

Love to visit this restaurant, small place in the corner of busy Greenwich junction. Fried king prawns, sea food curry with rice and chef special soups are always top notch and are rightly priced with substantial quantity; that's why I am a regular here. Staff is courteous and you'll enjoy the buzz. Also take cash as they don't take cards.

Visited after reading the reviews on Zomato. As promised by others, it did turn out to be a good 'value for money' place with tasty food. I had the chicken sweet corn soup and prawn fried rice. The rice portion is humongous and is ideal for two people. Only problem was that the prawns were not de-veined and I couldn't eat them after noticing it. Will stick to chicken next time.
Anne
It's a nice and convenient location Easy to find.
Lots of Chinese noodle and some rice options available for a cheap price. Dishes come at a generous serving. The taste is mediocre but given the price, I would recommend it for a cheap and filling meal.
Sabeel
By the far the best Chinese food I've had so far in London. Had the roast duck friend rice and a wonton soup. The duck was cooked perfectly and the soup was tasty. All for just £9.
Anhinwonderland
Cheap and cheerful Chinese quick fix.

they have a very extensive menu but My usual order would be noodle soup with wonton or char siu noodles soup because it's remotely the most healthy thing on the menu. The broth is tasty and comforting for a winter day along with some meaty dumplings!

Aimée Humphreys
Decent food- really cheap!
A good place to go to grab some lunch if you are short for time. I love their beef in black bean sauce! Quite quick service too.
Ying Kein Lin
Was in Greenwich visiting a friend who was studying here and she recommended this noodle bar. The portions were big, cheap and cheerful as I assume a lot of students would stop by because it alway busy. The seating and its turnaround time reminds me of Wagamamas!
Cleopas Chigaru
The ABSOLUTE WORST shit food shit service dirty lemonade mushy pink stuff in my special fried rice a total abomination! Turned off the lights before we finished eating DO NOT GO THERE!
Fitstar06
Hated it. I will not step a foot in here again, the service the staff are too eager to ask for what you want to order as soon as you step in without giving you a chance to look at the menu, the payment desk is right by the door too.

When we finished out meal they kept looking like they wanted us out, not giving us time to digest, horrible.

The food was okay but oily.

Watch out for one of the female staff who will try and short change you.
Doctor Paul
Very cheap and cheerful restaurant. Very large portions. Be warned though, probably not the quality or cut of meat!
Squeak
Yummy food, reasonably priced. Does not accept card payments which is a bit annoying.
Annabel Brown
Fantastic atmosphere and a great place to stop for a quick bowl of noodles and a glass freshly squeezed juice. A hit with students and grown ups alike and right in the heart of Greenwich.
Carl Froggett
Cheap and good, and you will not leave hungry. This is a cheap and cheerful place, efficiency of turnover is what their game is so don't go here for chats . . . . The service is quick quick!! The menu is attached so you can see the type of food. If you're visiting greenwich its good for lunch or a dinner if you want something quick inbetween your plans. They do take out as well (no delivery) so very very handy to have in the mobile on the way home you can call ahead!
Richard
Great value for money.. I last went to this restaurant on a thursday afternoon, but being in a very touristy area, you could expect it to be busy most days. It wasn't.
I have eaten here several times, and never had any complaints. The food they serve is not Michelin quality, but it is very good, very tasty, and very big! The menu is the kind you find in chinese takeaways, and the portion sizes are comparable, if not bigger, and the prices are about the same.
There were three of us, all of the larger persuasion, and all with hearty appetites. We ordered one main course each, five sides between us, and drinks - we had to leave some because the portions were so large, and the bill came to under £30!
The service is quick, and there are no individual tables - just communal benches, which I find kinda fun.
Well worth the visit if you are in the Greenwich area!

Last Friday we visited Thai Won Mein Noodle House in Greenwich. We’d actually planned a take away but don’t (yet) know a good one nearby and it looked like the Thai Won Mein would be cheap and quick. It was. We were asked twice in 5 minutes if we were ready to order (I wasn’t) and the food arrived very promptly. Perhaps too fast - I did get the impression they wanted us to eat and move on ASAP and it wasn’t even that busy! Huge basket of complimentary prawn crackers was a good start, but my chicken and vegetables with egg fried rice was pretty tasteless. The boyfriend ordered beef in black bean sauce and there was a distinct taste of gravy powder in there which was odd! Maybe they used it to thicken the sauce? He thought it was more like a stew. Overall the bill came to £18 for the two big plates and two beers, so it was very good value. I would go again, but probably as an alternative to the McDonalds down the road rather than a dining out experience. Food - 6.5/10 Atmosphere 5/10 S

I'd love to be able to be able to write a great review of this place because the price is right, the portions are huge and I like Chinese food and they have a great menu to choose from. However, the food was unnecessarily greasy which tainted the whole experience. Please, someone from this restaurant read this review and act upon it as I'd like to revisit in the future.
Hollie
I love this restaurant it is amazing the food there is excellent and I went there as a kid,I give it ☆☆☆☆ ,I didn't give it five because the only thing is that you have to wait long for your food.
Joseph Osborne
This restaurant is a noodle-house and offers delectable meals at reasonable prices. The menu has an extensive variety of options, with noodles being the star of each dish. The portions are enormous and will satisfy your noodle cravings completely. The food is delicious and fresh. The staff here is efficient and friendly and the service is prompt. The food is reasonably priced. I will surely return for a great meal again.
Austin Yates
I came to this place because my friends said it was affordable, quick and tasty! It was definitely quick and affordable but I'm not sure about the tasty bit. The food was on our tables as soon as we ordered it. I had fried chicken noodles, my friend had fried meat noodles and we also had prawn toast, which was very greasy, prawn crackers and barbecue sauce, which were both extremely bland. The plate of noodles was huge but tasted simply like oil. This place is only for those who want cheap food quickly and don't care at all about how it tastes.
Sam Gara
I absolutely adore this place. It isn't a fancy place in the least, however, two people can eat a lot here and in very cheap. One starter and main is enough to fill you up. It is a very simple and humble place accepting only cash. They don't house a bar however the delicious food covers up for that.
Varun Desai
This is a small restaurant and the most popular noodle in Greenwich. I've visited here numerous times and it's generally full. the food is good here and really cheap. It makes for a great inexpensive dining experience if you don't mind eating, sitting with strangers. The Chicken Curry and Rice and the Chicken Satay and Rice are great and the other items are good too.
Frederick Nicholson
If you only have a 5 in your pocket and you are looking for something filling then this is the place for you .
The quality of food they provide is not great but again in this money you cant ask for the best meal of your life.
The place is okay and the food is only average.
Jatin Devan
Lovely place if you want to takeaway some affordable food. The food is really tasty too. Haven't ever tried dining in so can't say what the is like from the inside. The noodles here are nice, well cooked and is great value for money too. Will come back soon.
Samuel Lawrence
The place is cheap though it is for a reason. The noodles that I had tasted horrible and the meat that I tried was also of very bad quality. The sauce was also quite a watery one and the entire meal was a disappointing one. There are other places serving better quality of food and I would prefer them rather than going here again.
Jackson Lambert
This place serves some huge portions at a very reasonable price. The food quality however, is just about decent and could be improved in a lot of ways.
If you are looking for non greasy, purely authentic Chinese food, then this is not your answer.

The service is fast and quick, so it can be good if you are looking for an immediate meal.
William Griffin
If you are not loaded with money, if you are starving and wish to load your stomach for the day in one meal and at a reasonable price then dude, this is the perfect place for you. Very cheap, excellent generosity in portions, Amazing food, great ambiance, a very cheerful place and an awesome staff. Strongly recommended.
Vijay Dyal
The portions are pretty huge here only that is the thing that will make you feel that you should visit this place again. There are not a lot of options in the menu to choose from , the quality of the dishes are just okay again there is nothing too special . If you are looking for cheap and filling meal then this place is surely for you .
Don't expect more.
Eleanor Collins
I recently tried this place and it was just about okay. The food is average and nothing great which you cannot find at other places that offer Chinese food in the same area. The food is quite reasonable though and is available in pretty good quantities as well. Try the Udon Noodles in Soup - it is about the best dish I had!
Cameron Stephenson
This place is a regular quick bite restaurant in the neighborhood. the only job of the staff is to deliver your food at the table and that is the end of their job. the prices are very reasonable and hence the food is very attractive. The portions are more than generous and hence the meal is quite affordable. They do have a take away option as well.
Abigail Bartlett
This place offers a huge meal for a small amount of money, and is worth trying if you don't feel like spending too much on dinner someday. We ordered some Chinese and the food was enough for a meal and then to get the rest of the meal packed as well. When I asked them to pack the remaining food up, they said it would cost me 50p and tossed a foil container and a lid to do the packing myself.
Juvina Aurora
I was really hungry when I went in and found that the food is excellent and is served in pretty good quantities as well (thank God!). I would suggest you go for this place prepared for big portions. Watch out for spice levels though - I love my food with chili in it, but it might not suit everyone's palate!
Daisy Kent
This place is awesome in every aspect whether it is quality or quantity, it was perfect for me .
If you like Chinese food and you like eating a lot, then this is the place for you .
The only problem this place has is the service is not too good but again you can't ask for everything when you don't have to empty your pockets too.
I would recommend this place to anyone, Go on grab a bite and enjoy .
Evie Tomlinson
I only tried the soup served at this place, and I found it to be inexpensive, well-executed and flavoursome. The place is kept quite clean all the time, and the decor is very simple and clean. The food tastes nice, the service is efficient, so there is nothing to fault here. I highly recommend this place.
Tushar Dey
This place is always packed which shows how popular it is among the locals as well as tourists. When we went there, it was busy but we quickly found a table. The food was delicious and the drinks we had complimented the meal pretty well. It was also reasonably priced and we would be returning again for sure.
Cameron John
I have used both their take away and dine in service. Both the times I have had a fairly decent experience. Nothing memorable, this place can be summed up as average. The service staff can be refurbished to be made more polite and welcoming to the customers.
All in all, nothing spectacular.
Tauseen Ghose
This place is your answer to a restaurant which offers great Chinese food at not so steep prices. All the dishes are priced rather reasonably well. Ranging from 5 pounds to 7 pounds each for every dish, this place is a good option for a pocket friendly meal. Flavoursome and divine, this place will surely be a good experience!
Jasmine Griffiths
I, along with my family, recently went there and it turned out to be a pretty good choice. The ingredients used were amazingly fresh and the food was an absolute delight. The prices were also in a reasonable range but the staff was very rude. Nevertheless, I will be visiting this restaurant again for the cheap and good quality of food served there.
Ben Slater
This place is good for everyone who is looking for a flavoursome yet filling Chinese meal. It serves alcohol, so the greasy food can easily be digested with a pint or so of beer. The dishes here are new and unique in preparation as well as taste.
The extensive menu provides for a lot of options as the staff also helps you decide what to order to suit your taste.
Remarkable experience and remarkable portions!
Sneha Chandran
Lovely place to eat at if you are in London. All the vegetarian options in food are brilliant, and I keep coming back here. The service is good too, and the staff extremely warm and friendly. However, they are almost doing away with tofu, which is sad. The place otherwise had some delicious and affordable food.
Eva Pugh
A place where you get decent food at reasonable prices. The dishes are not out of the world or supremely delicious but are well cooked and are satiating. You will not go back hungry from this restaurant. Ordered more than two dishes and glasses of sparkling water and were charged very comfortable prices! The place is CASH ONLY!
James O'neill
This place has a great ambiance to it and it makes the meal so enjoyable. If one is in the search for a pit stop for good and quick noodles, this is a must visit! A glass of fresh and cold juice is a very good bet. This joint appears to be a good favorite with student and elders.
Freya Hall
I recently went to this place on a Thursday during lunchtime. It wasn't crowded and I easily found a table. The food served was quite good. The menu was an extensive but the portions were medium-sized. The prices though were reasonable range and I had a very filling meal. I would be returning to this place again.
Lexi Scott
This place believes in having a good efficiency ratio so the service is invariably good and to the mark. You cannot be willing to sit here for hours if you want to enjoy your meal at ease. The staff is quick and over efficient in delivering and clearing dishes off their clients' tables. They do not do delivery but do have an option to take out, so either ways, you must try this place!
Adam Higgins
This place will surely give the value of each and every penny that you are spending. The service was fast and the staff was also very good . The food was delicious and the portions were huge and pretty filling too.
I will love to give this place another visit.
Siddharth Dash
I am not going to come here again no matter if this is the last place on earth to eat!
The food was not to be blamed for this reaction because it was not that bad , bit oily but it is okay , the chef will learn.
The staff is to be blamed for this. The were very rude and the management was also very poor.
Mahesh Subramaniam
Situated in the heart of Greenwich it's the perfect location if you need a meal in-between sightseeing, with the royal observatory, Maritime Museum and the University in close proximity. Tai Won Mein boasts the best noodles in the south east, with great options for vegetarians too. It's just a pity the staff aren't the friendliest which is truly its only downfall that stops it from being the perfect noodle getaway.

The price is amazing for the large portions you get, but if you want to be even cheaper you can share one portion between two and still be full.

The place is packed at peak times but in between the peak hours it's pretty empty and you'll find fellow noodle fanatics enjoying their meal in peaceful solitude.
Sophie Hall
Tai Won Mein is definitely the place to go to for lunch, because you’ll be so full up by the end of it that you won’t need dinner. The portions are large yet so addictive, that you wouldn’t consider not taking the leftovers home with you. It’s worth the cost, and also with the spacious seating area and only being a minute from Greenwich University, it’s a great place for a group of students to try.

My biggest complaint is that the staff can be quite hostile on occasion, but the fact that the food is served moderately quickly makes up for it.
Alexandra Sims
It's a testament to the food that I'm happy to keep going back despite some of the rude staff.

The portions are huge for the money charged and the noodles are super tasty regardless of what they're mixed with. When we go as a group everyone's satisfied, vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

If you struggle to finish then you can ask for a takeaway container but there is a 50p charge.
