We had a lovely time at The Eagle. The ambience was great - lively but not too loud. The bar snacks/starters were really interesting and delicious, and we really enjoyed our mains. Traditional with flair. Dessert and coffee was also great (good coffee in a pub is rare!). The staff and service were lovely.

We watched both sets of rugby world cup quarter finals here yesterday and found the Eagle spacious, friendly, comfortable, and serving great food and beverages. We had the baked camembert, loaded dirty fries, wings, and multiple beer, wine, spritzes. We would absolutely hang out here for a game or meal any time!
Butter Bell
First time Butter Bell had a scotch egg and was this delicious, the pickled sauce is a delight.

The food was amazing and the staff was very nice!! I went with my cousins visiting from France and they all loved it! We got the burgers and the sausage and mash, delicious! The scotch egg starter was also really nice.

The service was fantastic, the Sunday roast was absolutely amazing! I'm a rather pedantic Yorkshireman too, which makes it all the more impressive. Bravo đ

Had a reunion with my old highschool while I was there. Loved the atmosphere and service. Thank you for your kind hospitality :)

Great local pub, vegan options that are really good for a non vegan place-homemade too.Visit it if you are in the area. Only downfall is the very short list of mocktails but Iâd still go back

Visiting from the US and randomly found this pub after searching for a spot to eat. What a great, fun, and quintessentially local British pub. People were friendly, the bartenders could not have been nicer, and the food was great.
Family Friends
We hosted a volunteer thank you event in the upstairs private space at the Eagle on 18/05/23. The new management/staff are simply amazing - especially Louise and Mark. Louise, despite being short staffed on the night, was really attentive and provided us with excellent service on the day. We were never without drinks or food (which was delicious). I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Amazing place good customer service and great food. Staff is kind so thanks to kitchen staff your food was great and thanks to jay, Shay and maddy. You guys are great!

Great place. Great food. Great atmosphere. Really great staff - Shay was superb. One downer was that there was a drunk lady (maybe ex-employee) called Lou/Louise and she was terrible - berating staff and just being awful. Pub should ban her! Everything else was great.

Sunday lunch. Canât sing their praises highly enough. Daughter and I shared the two meat roast. Absolutely first class and at ÂŁ25 an absolute bargain. We had chicken and beef, this was served with carrots, cabbage, parsnip and roast spuds. Also included was a side dish of cauliflower cheese.
I couldnât fault any of it. Service was great, very clean and a nice pub atmosphere. Will most certainly be visiting again

An absolutely wonderful Sunday Roast! Very cozy atmosphere, some football on, and very friendly and helpful service. I will happily return next time I am in town.

Excelent service, great beer and overall menu, great people taking care of clients. #joe #Lou

Nice pub, quite loud especially with the music on over the chatter. Good atmospher and reasonable prices for drinks.

Booked for 11 people for their festive menu and the whole process was seamless end to end. I received an email with a link that I could share with friends to preorder their food before our booking date. I was able to manage all orders and then pay a deposit all online. The General Manager called me in advance to confirm everything and was super friendly.
The dining room was beautiful, Xmas song playlist was great and the food was really good. Everyone loved their dishes and the service topped it off.
Well done to all!

We went there to watch the Fifa final!

I'd like to thank the team at The Eagle - in particular Shay who looked after myself and my party of 40+ that night.
Shay took particular care to not only serve with a smile but check in on us to make sure we were ok and was always on hand to answer any queries or deal with any issues.
I organise big team nights out and rarely do we experience that intangible excellence that makes us want to return to the same venue. We're very grateful.
Honourable mention goes to the manager who clearly takes time to curate a staff who work well together and carry out the ethos of good hospitality. Couldn't recommend The Eagle enough. See you all again soon.

I went for my usual meaty Sunday treat. Ordered a burger. I like my meat medium rare. They told it was not possible for health and safety reasons. The burger came well cooked. Which I hate. I grew up not being a food waster out of universal Respect. So I had my meal. They serve average Poundlands Heinz ketchup and mayo on the side. Some fries. The burger was so awful that it reminded of those Iceland s four items pack for a pound. I seriously do not understand the meaning of Gastropub at the end. Am not sure why they choose to serve sloppy food instead of investing in good live music and set up a proper stage.. As there s such great taste in music in London and so low understanding of food in the air. The staff is lovely, friendly and cheerful. They must be .. I suppose.

Another great pub ruined with average over-priced food and people who know nothing about the beer they're selling.
The staff at this pub have done their very best and we were treated very well indeed and I know they have only just reopened and one should forgive the teething problems on the first night but the atmosphere has gone, it's freezing cold unless you sit on top of the fire, the live music was poor and too loud and the steak which we were only charged ÂŁ13 for (at HALF PRICE!!!!) was extremely average. Not to mention the cheap fries and green beans that came as a side.
Horrendous!!
Goodbye to The Eagle.

I must driven past here hundreds of times and finally on a Sunday afternoon pulled up and ate the best Sunday lunch I've had in ages. I'll never drive past again on a Sunday without stopping !
Emily Gregory
It was only the soft opening but despite teething problems, great food, great beer, great atmosphere. I think we're going to love this place and the people in it... well done all! X

A great place to eat, drink and meet friends. Friendly staff make all the difference. Iâm glad itâs on my doorstep!

As a courtesy after using your toilets as we were in a local park.... bought 2 packets of crisps, at ÂŁ1.40 each!! The lady serving wasn't very friendly & carried on chatting to customer at the bar. The loo roll in toilets wasn't refilled so although the pub has been refurbished, with soap & hand creams.... the basics sadly missing.

Nice beer,nice food,nice area,nice bar staff
Very nice đđđđđ

Just had dry as a bone chicken, with chips that were worse than the ones I served up at the diner in the bowling alley I worked at when I was 16. Left most of it. No one asked how my food was as I think they knew as well.
Paula Ensor
Sunday lunch and dessert were amazing, great atmosphere.Although all the tables were booked up, they went out of their way to get us a table so i could be comfortable. Thank you
Deborah Laight
Great place been going there for years but the new eagle is good too x
Craig McIntyre
I've been here once before for a flying visit and promised myself to come back.
Haven't eaten here yet but am returning tomorrow with a group of 4 or 5 of us.
Excellent soft jazz music this evening. Really chilled evening. Love it

My 'local' back in the mid 70's. You could say it's changed a bit - for the better thankfully :)

Excellent pork knuckle for lunch, and a few pints of Raw Truman lager to wash it down, all in all an excellent Sunday lunch!!

So many pubs have disappeared from our cities, towns and villages that being asked to review a new pub in Ladbroke Grove feels like a rare treat. I was on a Notting Hill staycation at the glamorous The Portobello Hotel so I trotted down the Grove for some dinner to The Eagle.I found a pub that not only looked like a proper boozer, full of locals engrossed in the weekly pub quiz but was serving freshly brewed Trumanâs beer straight from glorious copper tanks above the bar. For the younger reader , Trumanâs was a traditional brewery that went out of business a long time ago! The Eagle is owned by Hippo Inns who are wanting to create pubs that sit at the heart of their communities and this in my opinion is a good thing. But I had come to try out the food and drink offer not to wax lyrical about the ownerâs aspirations. There was another surprise ahead as the menu which is seasonal and British has a Bavarian twist.I started off with a glass of Raw Truman lager which was crisp, fresh and hoppy. But with the meal I wanted wine and went for an unoaked Chardonnay, de Wetshof Estate, South Africa 2016 that had a lot of fruit and with a hint of sweetness. Pickled herring with dill potatoes, sour cream (ÂŁ7) is a classic Northern European dish but in this version the sour cream was flavoured with beetroot adding a earthy flavour to the dish which I loved.Gin-cured salmon Blinis, crĂšme fraiche (ÂŁ8) was a beautifully plated dish. The gin cure on the salmon gave it a salty, fishy flavour.Really fresh dressed Dorset crab came with saffron aioli that needed some saffron (!) and crisp fries (ÂŁ18). This is the sort of pub food that it is a pleasure to find in the middle of a city.A simply grilled Brixham Plaice, capers, crayfish, smoked butter (ÂŁ14.50) was a wonderful firm-textured piece of fish with sweetness coming from crayfish and just a hint of smoke from the butter.Tossed mixed leaves (ÂŁ3.75) were fresh and crunchy with a good vinaigrette.Banoffee pancakes (ÂŁ6) were a bit heavy â a Banoffee Pie might have been a better optionâŠand forest fruit and almond cobbler, custard and mulled wine (ÂŁ6) was overcooked and dry.

I have never really been a pub person, but walking into the Eagle pub, it became apparent that I was about to change my mind. My first impression was of course; yes, a Bouji pub- as the interior of the pub is absolutely beautiful.

The Eagle pub is run by the Hippo Inn franchise, which has recently paired up with renowned beer makers- Trumanâs brewery. So, imagine my excitement when I was given the opportunity to try their Bavarian-inspired dishes. Get into my tummy!

Although I am more of a champagne girl, it was nice to try the new Truman raw lager. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it, as the taste had a subtle sweetness to it but was also crisp and refreshing. This would definitely be lovely on a summerâs day with the cool breeze on your face.

For starters, I chose the pickled herring, dill potatoes and sour cream. What a taste! The sweetness of the beer reduced the sourness of the herring and went down a treat.

I was absolutely looking forward to eating the knuckle of pork with the fried dumplings. However, this was not for the faint hearted. The portion was huge and is definitely good value for money, the Eagle pub is spot on with their portions. The knuckle of pork is very crispy on the outside, therefore I would recommend, cutting the pork from the bottom and then working your way up to the from the bottom of the knuckle of pork to the top. Upon entering my mouth the aromas of the pork was just tempting! The taste was dewy, soft with crisp edges, and full of flavour. This would be a great main dish choice for s Sunday, and the raw lager most certainly compliments the pork.

My cousin chose the 12oz bone in sirloin, béarnaise and chips; he commented that the steak is very well cooked, chewy and well seasoned.

After all that food, I could not possibly eat anymore, but their dessert choices seemed so appealing, so I eventually gave in and decided to try some desserts. The dessert was served with a selection of bitter chocolate fondant, banoffee pancakes, mulled pear with apple crumble and custard.

At the Eagle pub, all of my dreams were coming true and I was reliving my childhood. Although the chocolate fondant was supposed to be bitter, I found it quite sweet but left a fruity taste in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed the banoffee pancakes and finished everything. All in all, it was a great experience and I was shocked at the prices of the food, due to the portions and great quality of food. The Eagle pub would be a great place for Sunday lunch or brunch during the week with friends.

Price: ÂŁÂŁ

What to wear: Casual
(I wore a Free people jacket, grey top, grey jeans and Zara boots)

Ambience and hospitality: Very friendly staff, who actually seemed to have extensive knowledge of the dishes and beer which is also a plus as I didnât know much about beer and they were happy to educate me.
