I mean, what else do you want from a Japanese restaurant on neighbour?
The ‘mini’ seafood ramen soup I ordered was in massive portion but only costs me £5.45, not to mention the taste was so good, I’d say it’s better than Ajisen Ramen! The bento box was £14 including 6 pieces of fresh and mouth-melting salmon and tuna, 6 pieces of sushi in different flavours and some soybeans.
If you’re serious looking for 5 star quality, it’s not. Cause you can easily tell from the colour of egg yolk which was a bit light yellow. but, it’s fabulous for what it is!! 🍣

I had ordered a take away from poppy Hana - vegetable tempuri, salmon and tuna sashimi on sushi rice and miso soup. The soup and veg were lovely and hot. All the food was delicious, and the service super fast.

Great sushi in a unexpected location, right by Bermondsey Station. Always Fresh!

Really friendly local eatery with good lunch deal.

Went for a late dinner on a Sunday afternoon. It was quiet (although I am told it's popular for lunch). Couldn't fault anything at all. There are lots and lots of clearly marked vegetarian menu, a menu which has loads of choice in general, the menu has pictures of the food to help you pick. The staff were all really friendly. I had a delicious vegetable curry which came really well presened. The couple on the table next to us has the largest sushi platter I have ever seen. It's good for couples. It's popular for lunch. The food is really great value in price. The portions are large.

I’m a regular customer of Poppy Hana and I am Japanese. Salmon dishes are incredibly good and also Gyu-don is lovely. However, when I order Sukiyaki-don, the beef was too hard and I could not eat and also chicken kara-age was too dry. It was very disappointing as I was very excited with some occasional Japanese food. Overall I give 4 stars as some dishes are very good.

Yummy food (not top top quality though which is the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars. Still really good though! I've been twice). Good portions. Accommodating for our food allergies. You can use the tastecard to get one free starter, main and dessert (if you order 2 of those, respectively). My friend's fresh juice looked good. Staff, while accommodating, could be a bit friendlier.

100 * at least !! Been coming here a long time - am never disappointed ! Wide choice of delicious food, good portions, extremely good value, friendly, helpful & pleasant staff. Brilliant ! Very VERY highly recommended !
Unfortunately Poppy's has now closed - owners are opening pizza place instead. However you can still order their food online for either delivery or to pick up at the chicken shop next door - also theirs. 10% off Poppy's menu if you order through their website.

Absolutely recommend Poppy Hana! Special fried rice, chicken yaki udon and crispy squid are our regular go tos for a Japanese hot food take away and we love it! Fresh ingredients and not greasy or oily. We loved their sushi and used to get it a lot but recently it hasn't been as good as usual, not sure why!

Good value, good choices and good portion sizes. Nice food. Only downside which could be improved is greater selection of vegetarian choices. In addition, they kindly informed me the miso soup which came with the vegetarian bento box contained fish paste. It would be good if they could change this to vegetarian.

Amazing food, the aubergine starter is delicious. Tastecard makes this restaurant a regular place to visit.

Well crafted sushi, with fresh ingredients, good prices and an extensive, varied menu. The miso soup is tasty too. So I stop off here whenever I can, and Yo can get stuffed - this is how it should be done.

Absolutely loved this place until tonight. Ordered takeaway online, all went through and received confirmation. Waited 1.5 hrs, still no sign of it. Called and apparently a system error so no takeaway for me! Absolute nightmare. All they did was say they were sorry. I'm now on hold with PayPal to try and get my money back which is such a hassle!! Be cautious when ordering online!

Good food, generous portion and nice environment. Just that we were told we could use two taste cards between three people but when the bill came, we were only allowed to use one taste card. If we knew this then we wouldn't order portions for four, it was a bit disappointing.

2 hours and half waiting for our order and still not sign of the delivery. Nevermore!

Worst restaurant ever....I ve been there last Friday....sushi was terrible and the tuna was green...Chicken Katzu straight away from a microwave. ...And the Salmon Teriyaki was the worst dish I ever tried.....I spoke to the waitress, I told her my disappointment and nothing. ...she bring to us the full bill ....I VE BEEN ROBBED

love the food so far, My favourite would have to the devilled prawns and the curry

Best Japanese in this area. We've been here 6 times in the last MONTH. Try their Temaki, it's huge and incredibly delicious!

Very late deliveries because they are "busy". Called a couple of times and they gave us a wrong delivery update every time.

Go for it if you feel like risking a 40min wait on top of the 40min estimated delivery time after paying a hefty delivery charge.

The cherry on the cake is that the prices increased dramatically in the past months.

Poppy Hana is a little Japanese restaurant in south London. Poppy Hana serve up some flavoursome Japanese cuisine at pretty decent prices. The menu at Poppy Hana consists of more than just bento boxes and sushi - For which I am thankful. Poppy Hana also sell soups, noodles and rice dishes, which are served steaming hot and well seasoned. The portions are a generous size too. I've previously tried chicken fried rice, which is available mild or spicy. I've also tried the chicken yaki udon noodles at Poppy Hana plus a few sips of soup.

Awfull! Food was cold and horrible, staff was terrible, I was expecting better. But running a japanese and a chicken business in the same kitchen couldn't be different!!!

Very Tasty Food. I'm a regular customer of Poppy Hana. The quality and quantity of the food is faultless. The staff is excellent and make sure that you are looked after well. I have been to the restaurant and at times do takeaway aswell. Their fish is fresh and the food that I've tried is always tasty. It is under new management and they are still as good as ever. I recommend Poppy Hana.

So wrong!. I love Sushi, I've had good sushi and not so good sushi from the four corners of the world, but never have I experienced such a bad experience. A disgrace and insult to the Japanese culture and the good name of Sushi!
The food is terrible, unauthentic, pricey and the staff are clueless and rude.
The rice was over cooked to the point of resembling porridge. Plastered around the unfresh, smelly and clearly toxic fish. I had to fight 12 rounds for the salmon nigiri to go down my throat. Only for it to come straight out the other end as soon as I got home!
What added to the insult was when I told the staff that the rice was not quite right, "a little over cooked, mushy" I said. I was made to feel quite sheepish when the response was "it's the way we cook rice, now stop complaining and eat up"
How I regret the biggest fight of my culinary life. Every bite, every chew, every swallow was a moment of torture.
I don't usually write reviews but I just felt I had to spread the word to all the sushi lovers out there and warn them of this so called sushi restaurant! Please avoid at all cost, because it certainly cost me!

What a little gem! Not the most authentic Japanese eating experience but a great place to go for zn informal bite at a reasonable price. Long may it continue!

Good Food. I have been to Poppy Hana twice now and really enjoy their Bento Boxes. Reasonably priced. Service very good.

I’ve been in a Japanese sort of mood recently and have visited a few places around town, but sometimes your old reliable sushi haunt is still the best. For me, that’s a small neighbourhood restaurant right next to Bermondsey underground station, an odd place for a sushi joint but nonetheless a good one. Enter Poppy Hana The interior is red and black and atmospheric and makes even going to a neighbourhood joint feel special. The seared salmon tataki is fabulous – if all salad leaves were dressed with this dressing, we’d all be a lot healthier. The soft shell crab rolls are my favourite – and I’ve ordered both the Temaki hand roll and the normal sushi rolls. The crab is hot and the rolls freshly made. We’ve seriously over ordered and by the time the shrimp yakisoba arrives, there’s not too much room for the noodles. The noodles are ok, but probably not something I’ll ever order again – much preferring to stick to the sushi and salmon tataki. Filed under: ££ Payday , Casual , Dinner

One night I was craving sushi, but there was no way in hell I was going to go out, it was raining and I was exhausted.
So I looked for sushi delivery places. I finally chose Poppy Hana, because I thought it was the one that seemed the cleanest, one that I could trust with raw fish, and their menu seemed nice and fairly priced.
So I ordered a sushi selection set. And it was actually very good compared to other similar-priced outlets.

The delivery took about 45 minutes, which was normal and acceptable.
It wasn't anything memorable though, but I will definitely order from there again if I'm in same situation.
