This restaurant on the edge of the City has a friendly and fun vibe to it, but don't mistake that for meaning that the food isn't up to scratch. The food is the star of the show here. It's fresh and packed with flavour. Everything that I tried was great, and I definitely plan on coming back.
Katie O'Sullivan
Beautiful restaurant with lovely staff! Felt very well catered for with my intolerances and the food was phenomenal! I don’t understand some of the reviews on here for this place as it’s definitely worth a visit. Happy with every single dish, sticky toffee pudding is a must at the end!
Please give this place the hype that it deserves as it was a little quiet for a Saturday afternoon

Chanced upon this restaurant one night trying to find some dinner and oh what dinner we had. Great ambiance, service and the food was so flavourful. We had the Aji De Gallina and Prawn Tamale and I would absolutely recommend both. The serving size was slightly small so I’d suggest treating it as tapas and ordering multiple dishes.
Ravshanbek Rozukulov
Tried ceviche (sea bass) for the first time here, and enjoyed it. Don’t really have a frame of reference here, so I would say it was pretty good. The fried chicken starters were a bit bland and dry. Staff were quite friendly and attentive.

An absolutely fantastic gluten free restaurant on the east side of London. I visited this restaurant multiple times on my trip to London and was satisfied each and every time. The staff were great and they provided a quick dinner service with delicious gluten free food. My personal favorite was the corn cake, but all the food that my family enjoyed was of great quality.
Emily Hannon-Luijbregts
Great food. Menu is completely gluten free. Great cocktails, food is delicious and would highly recommend.
Toilets are downstairs
Michaela Arkenau
All gluten free menu with great variety of exotic dishes. It tasted wonderful and the service was good. We were there early evening in a weekday, so it was not very busy.
I had a corn cake and Cassava Fries (never waren cassava before!) and it was splendid.
Ali Malaibari
A delicious variety of small dishes. I really enjoyed everything I ate. However I felt the giant corn dish wasn’t really fresh, but still very good. The cassava fries were a little too oily.
Other then that I highly recommend!

We had dinner here last night and were very impressed. We always love to see an organic red wine on the menu, so that was an excellent start. All the food sounded amazing, so we went with the tasting menu. The food was delicious! Lots of new flavour combinations for us, but safe to say we are now inspired to visit Peru. The service was top notch - they were kind and each course was spaced out nicely. Finished the night with some pisco sours, which have always been a fav for me. Loved them. Just to note, though we aren't vegan, we thought we had some of the best and most interesting vegan food we've had in London.
Safe to say we will be back again, and with friends!
Jantien Kwekkeboom
Entirely gluten free place with food that tastes delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive. They have some vegan and vegetarian options.
However the prices were very high for the portion sizes. (As an adult you’d want to order a salad and a main and maybe some side fries).
Sarah
Great food, good atmosphere and all gluten free! Highly recommended for any coeliacs
Sandra B
We absolutely loved it!
A quick midweek lunch resulting in getting the sharing menu, we couldn't fault any of the dishes. Such great flavours, I've been telling all my friends to go! Only round the corner from the market so if you fancy a sit down meal head here!

Really nice ceviches. Our choices were Yana Tuna and Andina. Both were really good but Andina is slightly more aromatic. Grilled octopus was also a very nice complimentary after 2 fresh ceviches, tender and delicious. Music was a little loud for us but we were on the tables away from bar so it didn't impact the experience that much.

Came on a quiet Sunday evening in January. Pretty good Peruvian food, although nothing amazing. The Andina ceviche was great, and the main chicken and beef dishes were fine (beef was too tough). Five dishes across two people came to around £70 (without any drinks), so fairly good value for London. Service was very friendly and welcoming.
Maud Hu
Really nice Peruvian restaurant, the service is great and the food is delicious :) we really enjoyed the corn cake, and the grilled octopus and the pisco sour. The ceviche was a bit too spicy for me but that’s just cause I can’t eat spicy haha
Kathryn Hall
A lovely meal, nice space, excellent food. Our waiter was friendly and efficient despite being quite busy. Lovely flavours, both ceviches we tried were fresh and with a nice bit of chilly, the pork belly bites very moorish. Squid tender and tasty. Excellent cocktails too!
Laura Johansson
We had a lovely birthday lunch and my half Peruvian husband loved the food. Thank you Alessio and team for taking such good care of us

I would give Andina 10 stars if it were possible! I utilized my "Find Me GFree" app as we did not have a booking and just parted ways with friends, and Andina was at the top of the list. We walked in without a booking and were seated immediately. We ordered the classic pisco sours which were just like the ones my Chilean roommate's mother would make for us. I upgraded sizes to "The Cathedral" and it was so worth it. We ordered a few plates each then carried on to try each other's. I let our server know of my gluten allergy and Alejandros said "We do not have any gluten in our kitchen" MUSIC TO MY EARS! I ordered the grilled octopus, chips (fries), and a chicken thigh dish with sweet potatoes. Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and marvelous. For dessert I ordered a passion fruit mousse with black quinoa crumble and winter berries coulis and wow, it was insanely amazing. The bill did not break the bank and the food was WELL worth it.

Went for dinner with two friends and the whole vibe, service and food did not disappoint. The wines and cocktails were great. It was sensational and price was excellent especially for the quality of food and wines. A really cool place and staff super friendly. Loved it!
Rachel Brown
My partner and I had brunch at Andina after hearing a few good reviews. I have been for dinner before and enjoyed it. We were really disappointed with the brunch offering on all counts. The brunch menu wasn't that appealing, service was terrible and one meal was served so early ahead of the other that my other half had eaten his brunch by the time I got mine. They also got our coffee order wrong and the atmosphere is lacking. There are so many great places for brunch in the city I would not recommend this place for brunch. I like it for dinner though.
Jo Louisa
Fab place. As a vegetarian, there's so much choice on the menu! Produce is very fresh and all dishes are beautifully presented. A really good variety of tasty, fresh smoothies and juices too. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful decor and lovely relaxed vibe. Adding this place to my favourites list
Claire Nurden
Very disappointed. The menu promises a lot but while the food is ok, the portions are so tiny as to be completely unsatisfying. The tuna is completely overpowered by overzealous sauces and the pork belly is exceptionally salty. There were lots of promises about desert on the menu but the reality was four tiny swirls of Tesco equivalent chocolate mousse and quite literally two nuts. For £80 we had an extremely meagre meal supposedly for two people. Let's just say I left hungry. The staff tried hard but seemed to be under a lot of pressure and some were just plain rude.
Melissa Winch
Lots of people saying the service was so good and how lovely the staff are.. So why when we tried to book for a special meal was there no flexibility at all? I am part of the party below who was really excited to find a restaurant that caters for vegans and gluten free eaters. The food looks amazing. We would love to come and visit for lunch on a Friday afternoon but have been told as there are 10 of us we must pay £38 per head.. Absolutely ridiculous and has spoilt the excitement we had for the place. Such a shame you couldn't be more accommodating. 10 very unhappy people.
Or Ben Zvi Reif
Amazing Peruvian-inspired food by the guy behind Ceviche. My second time and will definitely return and recommend. Was looking forward to eat the sous vide duck breast but it was removed from the menu. Do me a solid and bring it back some time?
Tariq Bayjoo
Whilst the food was interesting and well made the experience left a sour taste in my mouth. Whilst there were plenty of tables free downstairs and one upstairs because I was on my own they made me sit at the so called 'bar' which is literally inches from where the food is being prepped staring at at plate of blooded beef and pans of uncooked food whilst I was eating. It's grossly unfair and it's not like they were going to fill all those seats in the 30 mins or so I was there. Shame really..
Tarie Vanessa
I would have to say I was very excited to try Andina's but it was ok at best. One of the servers, Ricardo, was lovely but the other was very rude and inconsiderate. When we first arrived he barged through the narrow hallway and almost knocked me and my bags over. The food was ok but the minor tweaks to the orders were completely confused. Had the experience not been ruined by the rude server this would have been insignificant. I won't be a rush to come back again and I hope people will receive a better service than my friends and I did.
Dawn Hudgell
Amazing food and went the extra mile for another octopus dish when kitchen closed 😃😃😃😃
Abigail Alexandra
service was super quick and very friendly, made accommodation for us even though the restaurant was so busy and we hadn't booked a table, food is absolutely unreal - worth every penny
Monique van Tilburg
Lovely restaurant and even our to kids (12&14) loves the food! Great assistence and helpfull staff.
Steven Nicolaides
Andina serves vibrant, colourful, pretty Peruvian food and its nice to see a normal restaurant taking dietary requirements like gluten free and vegan seriously. You can ask for a vegan menu (which is what I always do) and there's plenty of choice. I also like the fact they have nice smoothies and juices.
Lauren Sanderson
Had a lovely meal here, being gluten free and meat free isn't easy in terms of eating out options but there was lots here. The doughnuts are incredible and not to be missed. The only negative was the meal descriptions didn't really let you know what to expect in terms of spiciness. Was fine for me but not my friend.
Chelsie Parris Riley
Brunch was divine on a winter's morning visit to London. Loved the staff, very friendly and helpful - would definitely recommend :) x
Jasmin Schawalder
Nice food, uncomfortable place: freezing aircon, loud music (mostly not even Latin) so you can't talk to each other
Adhith Rajesh
Moderate food. Good location on a sunny late afternoon. Some items on the menu were unavailable. Service a bit chaotic.

One of freshest Peruvian food I had recently. Sea bass in Ceviches was great with chili tiger milk . awesome food and place to reccomend any one.

Excellent pub crawl! I actually did it twice. Must do while in London. Guides were spectacular! Great job Samantha, Kate and Matt. Shared nachos with Samantha between venues in a drunken fit of hunger. Best way to spend a Friday or Sat night.
Prabhat Roy
This place has the best nachos you will ever have. Period. Although the vegetarian options are few, they are delicious - falafel, anyone? If you're staying at the Double-tree, try the breakfast here.
Marta Monteiro
Portions super small, not recommended if you’re hungry. There are better peruvian restaurants in other places. Not cheap. The service is good (ladies are nice) but mixed up all the orders.
Yogesh
Disappointed with the quality of food they serve here will never visit this place again never order food this is bad they service is also dissapointed me aloot

Unique quirky. To be experienced Food. I have no idea about South American cuisine. But the experiments here are worth it. Nice... 😄

Was my first time at the place.

The first Peruvian food I've eaten!
It was all delicious, the menu was very appetizing.
The drink Pisco sour was really good too.
I strongly recommend :)

I was meeting up with a friend for dinner one evening in Shoreditch. I hadn’t tried Andina before but thought we should give it a go. It seemed very popular with nearly all of the tables full – although I later realised they have a large area downstairs. Andina describes itself as a Picanteria & Pisco Bar – so it only felt polite to try one of the pisco sours which was exactly what I was hoping for.
Foodisbae
Andina with their Peruvian cuisine was on my bucket list and I was elated that I went there!
Peruvian food is the new trend and for me
Being a vegetarian they have finger licking food!
The best one was salad no doubt with black quinoa in it and feta cheese, love this dish! Then we had some corn rub dish I believe which had mild flavours in it and just the perfect to my taste buds.. lastly we had some aubergine dish which I didn’t like it and it had really tangy sauce with it!
Will go back next definitely whenever I’m in London next!
Kanika Syal
A beautiful and peaceful restaurant with amazing healthy food options . Being a healthy freak , I loved its food which had so many options . One should definitely try out this place

I'm not a fan of duck but had the duck wings, chunky fries with a peanut sauce and an aubergine tac tac * i think*... all very yummy. love !
David
Beautiful restaurant with a laid back vibe. Very diversified crowd - which is always a good sign.
Service was top notch, and the waiting time was on par with the indication we got from the staff.
All the juices were very good and the brunch menu was fantastic. In addition to the great environment and quality of the food - I feel the price was very affordable. I would recommend, and I will be going back in the near future!
Adrian Macias
Without a doubt very interesting point at Brick Lane’s culinary map. Original & unique Peruvian concept with it’s one of a kind interior & music. Ceviche is a must try.
Nelson Benjamim Luciano
Great great experience. The energy in this restaurant is amazing and the food ?! Wow ... probably the best ceviche I have eat. Must go if you are in London
Filipe Passos-Coelho
When my girlfriend surprised me to a ceviche dinner, I was very excited as it would be the first time I would try ceviche. Unfortunately it didn't bring the result I hoped. Most dishes didn't do anything for me, and I found them unremarkable. Which is a shame because the concept is really nice, the place is full of character and the staff are super polite and friendly. Gutted with the experience, but maybe it's just because I found I don't terribly enjoy ceviche.

Andina is a picanteria and pisco bar in Shoreditch focusing on smaller sharing plates with a Peruvian influence. The menu is extensive with nibbles, ceviche, grills, street food and classic dishes. Between three of us, we chose the thick cut chips with cheesy amarillo chilli sauce, deep fried baby prawns with garlic sauce and yellow fin tuna ceviche to begin with...
Michaela Baxter
Andina is great for a fresh lunch/ dinner with friends with a range of gluten free options and fresh juices. The ceviches are all really good - I particularly like the sea bass and the tuna. I also love the street food, particularly the pork belly, and the octopus from the grill menu is one of my personal highlights. But in general, you can't go wrong. The cocktails are also stunning and service friendly and attentive. The music is fun and makes for a buzzing atmosphere.
Alice Gee
I really like the food and decor at Andina, but it is disturbingly noisy. The music is quite loud, and the proximity of the tables is uncomfortably intimate. We were sitting next to the open kitchen so there were loud calls of "Service. Please." intermittently. I think in the future I will stick to their other branch Ceviche at Old St. That branch is roomier and has private booths. Less buzzy but more comfortable.

Service was a little haphazard. We had to ask twice for tap water and dishes arrived promptly but in a strange order. One of our party of four ordered poached eggs with spicy mash, spinach and mushrooms for himself from the brunch menu. This was the first dish to arrive. I tasted a bit of the mash and spinach and both were very nice. In particular there was quite a lot of butter and garlic in the spinach.

The rest of us shared. We were hoping to start with ceviches and tiraditos but these were the last dishes to arrive. The sea bass ceviche, yellow fin tuna ceviche, and cobia tiradito were all good. Though I have a slight preference for the refinement of thinly sliced tiradito over chunky ceviche.

Braised aubergine served with crumbles of young cheese (similar to feta) was pleasant but quite spicy. The Frenchman and the Dutchman at our table found it too hot. Me and the Californian (who is accustomed to the heat of Mexican food) thought it was fine. We also had a double order of the chicarron sandwich. Tasty, but the confit pork belly was not meltingly soft. Nice sweet eggy bun though.

A light lunch for four with a big bottle of sparkling water came to £68 including service.

Andina is a great place to have dinner with friends or with a plus one, especially during the weekend as the location is great if you feel like going somewhere for a drink afterwards. I highly recommend the 'Causa Puno' - We loved this dish so much that we actually ordered it twice! Also, I highly recommend the 'Croquetas de Maca' (very interesting and unusual flavours in a 'Croqueta'!) and the 'Yana Ceviche'. Overall, I had a superb dinner at Andina - The food was excellent and the service was very friendly and attentive - Definitely recommend it!

Peruvian cuisine has made a striking impact on London’s diverse food scene, with a constant wave of fresh ceviche and Pisco Sour popping up across the city. The man mostly responsible for this wave of exotic dishes is Martin Morales, an award winning chef and restaurateur who moved to London 20 years ago, bringing with him his passion and flair for Peruvian flavour. Before following his dream to open up Ceviche Soho, the UK’s first restaurant of its kind, Mr Morales was a recognised name in the music industry. After 15 years on the DJ scene, he worked with Steve Jobs as one of the founding members of iTunes in Europe and launched many of the Disney star’s careers in Europe including Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. What a guy.

Since my last trip to South America I got hooked up to ceviche a fish carpaccio originally from Peru' that is quite popular around Latin America.
Combining simple flavours like fresh fish, lemon, chili and onions you cannot get much better combinations than that. Therefore when I came back I looked for ceviche whenever I had the opportunity and found a quite decent one in Andina. Flavours are not quite the same (are they ever?) as back there but they were still quite nice and for London standards not too expensive. I tried the classic one and it was good. The best dish of the night though was the chocolate and avocado mousse.

Pretty solid Peruvian place in Shoreditch. I quite liked the plantain fritters and the croquetas de maca but felt the quinoa and pineapple were out of place in the yana ceviche. Does it top my Peruvian favourites like Senior Ceviche or Pachamama? Nah. But it's pretty good choice if you're in the area.
Secret Temple
I had seen the words “Peruvian” and “brunch” mixed into what ended up being a delicious time over at Lima Floral, so was rather excited to see even more such opportunities closer by in Shoreditch. With glowing reviews everywhere, it was a bit of a downer to end up feeling rather lukewarm about the whole meal.

Andina superb restaurant at times I get amused because when I least expect from a restaurant it delivers !!

Ordered quite a lot for two people as we reached really late they were very welcoming and accepted our invitation not like other restaurants in London !!

We started with a vegi Ceviche excellent citrus just the way I like it and the second ceviche was the Classico which was excellent good quality of fish as well.

Then we went for the eggplants and steak both were very good ! The steak was cooked to rare I asked for medium but probably my medium for them is well done coming from the Middle East.

The salads as well were very good the quinoa salad and the beetroot salad both were excellent .

No fuss about the food just packed flavors and simple presentation.

Service 5/5

Food 4.5/5

Ambience 4/5

Andina does lovely ceviches to freshen your palate during your work lunch breaks. That's how I first came to know the place. . Then an occasion sprang up where we needed a place for an after work function, so naturally I suggested Andina, which was on one end of our office. Unfortunately we did not think it through carefully enough, since a group of eight on a Friday night without a booking is an impossible mission on a popular venue such as this.

I first went to Andina coz it was featured on Gwyneth Paltrow's website as one of her top 10 recommendations for food and dessert in London. My wife insisted that we go try it out. We were left wanting more for sure!

Andina's got superb Peruvian food - my fav is the Chicharron sandwich they do which is a basically a generous helping of fried pork cubes in a brioche with a very interesting sweet pumpkin relish - oh it is just divine! Can just go to Andina to devour a dozen of these babies..unfortunately they don't serve this for dinner.

Their dessert is also very good - the doughnuts with the vanilla bean ice cream and the chocolate syrup is fantastic and serves as a fitting end to a meal here.

I take away 1 point for the service. On our 4th trip there, over a period of 3 months or so, we were disappointed as we were promised a table in 40 mins, but ended up waiting for 1.5 hours! Obviously entered rather grumpy. What made it worse was the woman who was letting us in rather rudely told us that people wait for 3 hours for a table (How do I care, exactly?). Spoilt our mood completely. True, if we were told we were going to have to wait for an hour, probably would've chosen to go somewhere else. We didn't even get a table - had to sit at the bar downstairs. That was the final straw. Even contemplated leaving.

Anyway - the restaurant manager and the staff inside the restaurant figured out we weren't happy. And did their best to make amends - even insisting that they knock off the bill completely, once we were done with our meal. We insisted, but lost out to a very sweet and adamant lady who was managing the restaurant that evening. We were left with no choice but to leave our server with a massive tip.

Customer service is very important and you just cannot mess things up, am happy the staff inside stepped up to make amends.

Andina is a beautiful Peruvian restaurant in Shoreditch. It's quite an experience since the food is so unique. I really enjoyed the corn cakes and chicken thighs. The desserts are also worth trying - I had a delicious chocolate and avocado mouse. Andina's presentation is great - I only wish they had a little more lighting so that we could see the dish better (but this is a minor point). All in all, it's a great place for a special occasion.

Ceviche. That word is enough to make me reminisce about good times on holiday, to think of fresh flavoursome food and more importantly to make me happy. Fresh fish, the acidic Citric juice and veg all together combine to make this dish so amazing. As part of the Ceviche group, which I haven't visited yet, I was really looking forward to this visit to Andina. In Shoreditch, which is increasing its popularity as a destination for foodies, I was confident that I would have a good experience.

This was the first time I've had Peruvian food and I'm so glad I came here. It's simple tapas food but with their very own touch. It had enough spices and the fusion of flavours were perfect. My fav dishes of the night was their mini pork chicharonnes and their cassava cake dessert. Best restaurant I've been to so far in London. Will definitely come back again and I may even try their sister restaurants, Ceviche.

Andina is one of my favourites in town. It was here that I’ve first tried Peruvian food and I absolutely loved it.
The first thing that will catch your eye is the really beautiful room – well decorated with the perfect light ambiance and atmosphere.
But as soon as the food arrives that’s when the real delight starts. Fresh, tasty and just beautiful placed on the plate.

What you can’t miss: The corn cake with avocado and the Ceviche Morado – The corn cake goes perfectly together with anything else you can order from the menu and it is just delicious and the Ceviche Morado is an amusement for salmon lovers.
You should also try the Quinoa burger and the Thick-cut chips with Huancaina sause.

Book in advance if you want to be sure to get a place – the staff is really helpful but as in most good restaurants in this area on a Friday or Saturday it is really difficult to get in without booking!

Sit on the bar stool by the kitchen. Watch them cook, ask for what looks appetising. Gastronomic experience in the part of London I love most. The closet you can get to street food inside a cafe.

So I seem to be enduring something of a run of South American food lately. I managed to end up at Andina, a Peruvian restaurant in trendy Shoreditch. Some would say that it is too trendy for me. Causa de Camarones – Nikkei prawn tartar, avocado, coriander cold potato mash, wasabi mayo. An excellent dish which reminded me of the prawn sashimi I had had in Japan. An excellent start to the meal. The avocado and prawn tartar created a very pleasant combination with the smoothness of the avocado and the fresh sea bite of the prawns. A very eye catching and tongue delighting dish.

The Shoreditch outpost of the Ceviche group, Andina is a pared-back, attractive restaurant. The Pisco menu looked impressive although remained untried - I stuck to the lunchtime menu which at £9 for 2 dishes is well-priced. A salmon dish on a sweet potato purée bed was excellent - perfectly cooked, beautifully presented. An accompanying green bean dish was complemented well by crunchy corn but perhaps a little salty. I also tried their tuna ceviche in a blood orange tiger's milk - it was zingy and vibrant as all good Peruvian often is. The menu also offered intriguing street food dishes such as sticky grilled chicken wings - next time perhaps. All in all, a very nice Peruvian

Andina is a Peruvian restaurant founded by Martin Morales (also owner of Ceviche in Soho) on the very cool Redchurch Street. I love this part of Shoreditch – it’s the perfect place for window shopping!. I have been to Andina quite a few times now. They do the whole Peruvian thing very well. It’s nice to go out for a meal and not feel horribly stuffed and carb-loaded afterwards. All the ingredients are fresh and light and well, I love ceviche so its my kinda place!

Great discovery. Packed and productive restaurant. Original menu, creative plates. Simple yet stylish decor. Latino music that flows with the tapas. Each plate was a new discovery, combining sweet, salty and spicy in perfect doses. This is the type of place where you need to go back to try the other plates you watched being served at other tables.

The food is exactly how I like it, to share. It is reminiscent of home dinners with the family. Plates of goodness arriving at the table, arms reaching across to spoon portions, sighs of fulfilment and chatter as a background soundtrack. The food is awesome. We had mario florian tiradito (Tiradito is similar to sashimi and carpaccio, normally with raw fish), purple graze tiradito, beef steak, red & white quinoa, avocado and cucumber salad, lamb and many more plates. For 3 of us, we ordered 3 items each which was suggested by the waitress. Good call – as everything is so tasty, that you want everything. The food really lights up your taste buds with some dishes working the zest. Service was seamless and in saving the best for last, their “Macaroni Cheese” (Huancaina Macaroni) is literally food porn. Tasty, filling and dangerously tempting to order a second. When I returned to the office, I wished I was in a country which allowed for a siesta, as I really needed to recover from the effects of this food extravaganza. Highly recommended, definitely worth it. By Sammijo. Andina 1 Redchurch Street Shoreditch London E2 7DJ T. 020 7920 6499 E. welcome@andinalondon.com W. www.andinalondon.com @andinalondon

1 Redchurch Street, London E2 7DJ 020 7920 6499 http://andinalondon.com/ ★★★★★ ££ ££ Martin Morales’ Peruvian restaurant, Andina (meaning woman from the Andes), epitomises London’s hearty appetite for South American food. This high tabled, two story restaurant serves a variety of traditional soul dishes from the Andes with seasonal British twists. We were excited to go to Andina after noting their twitter feed’s vocal support for the Meat Free Monday campaign. The menu’s veggie highlights include the quinoa and avocado salad (£6), the incredible Tacu Tacu Quechia (£6) which mixes aubergine, quinoa tacu tacu and queso fresco, and the Poncho de Palta (£7) from the ceviche bar with musical citrus and chilli notes. The devil is really in the thoughtful detail of their delicious plates. Each dish is distinctive, whether served inside the ears of a corn cob, held upright in a perfect cylinder, or including seven(!) types of potato. Depending on how hungry you are, three dishes per person is about right for a hearty dinner. To drink, we tried Andina’s incomparable Pisco Sours (starting at £7.50) which come in a variety of Pisco infusions, with added Peruvian superfoods (the waiter’s expert recommendation is advised!). Andina is a great place to catch up with friends over dinner, or go for a veggie date. During the day, the restaurant serves many more tangy dishes for brunch or set lunch (reasonably priced at £9 for two specials). Andina is open weekdays 8am – 11pm, and weekends 10am-11pm. Andina has two Ceviche sister restaurants in Soho and Old Street. Let the Peruvian foodie expansion long continue. Have you tried Ceviche at Andina? In Sum: some tasty dishes and some a bit bland. What was good was very good but the rest was forgettable and bland. Our server seemed bored and really not into explaining anything or making any of the dishes sound appetizing or delicious. We would go back only for lunch to try their bacon sandwich that sounds divine. Cute place with a cute casual vibe and great location. Seat upstairs as the vibe is more fun but the upstairs was to

A little Peruvian gem in Shoreditch. Very cosy, colourful, with menu filled with super foods, inspired by Peruvian Andes. There is also very beautiful story behind this place, which you can read on Andina’s website . That Saturday was hot and sunny. We were after something light, original, a bit different to what we usually go for. Andina ticked most of the boxes! We picked the seats at the kitchen bar so that we could see the chef in action…as it turned out to be the action of cutting raw fish… not the best view while having your lunch… Bloody Marry’s for not Bloody Marry’s lovers was not a good idea. I gave up after five sips… it did look delicious though. The dishes on the menu are very healthy, loaded with ingredients like quinoa, avocado, amaranth, lucuma puree and many more of which I haven’t heard before. We felt quite adventurous and ordered a couple of dishes to share that sounded the most exotic and original. Corn cake & avocado with salsa criolla (£7) is one of Andina’s clas

i can’t remember what we ordered now but andina do like to experiment with ingredients so we had interesting ceviches with the likes of figs, yuzu, samphire, blueberries and well, you get the idea. their menu changes quite regularly so expect something new every time. munki was very impressed by how fresh it all tasted and it definitely puts plain sashimi to shame even though there is nothing wrong with sashimi. ceviche is just more exciting!

The food, however, was a different story. Starting with a street eat and a ceviche, we ordered the prawn & quinoa chowder and the seabass ceviche. Both were tinged with chilli, warming and full of flavour. For mains we chose the lamb skewers and the three potato cakes with varieties of fish. Again, superb flavours and pleasing presentation.

Andina, a recently opened Peruvian restaurant in Shoreditch was the Friday night dining destination of choice for myself and my two old school friends, Danni and Jess. Martin Morales, founder of Ceviche in Soho, has been fundamental in bringing the current trend of Peruvian food to London. Morales is passionate about Peruvian food and culture and, after the success of Ceviche, comes Andina, serving food inspired by the Peruvian Andes. The Shoreditch restaurant has an all day menu of healthy, nutritious food alongside smoothies and a choice of Pisco cocktails. The menu is also heavy on the vegetarian options and many dishes are gluten-free. The interior is cosy and rustic with wooden tables and chairs and Peruvian artwork adorning the walls. The effect is friendly and informal rather than canteen casual. I arrived first and ordered a nice glass of Sauv Blanc plus some cancha (crunchy Peruvian corn) to nibble on. The corn is perfectly crunchy and salty and totally addictive! Fortunat

Andina was a mixed bag. Some dishes were a delight, others didn’t live up to the reputation of Ceviche. Then again, the atmosphere, price and ridiculously close location to my office is bound to draw me back. So for now, I’m giving it a LLE Rating of 6 / 10.

Andina is run by the team that brought us Ceviche in central Soho. Whats different here is the relax and comfortable feel that the place has. The restaurant is located right on Shoreditch High St about 5 mins walk from Boxpark and the Overground Station. I was here for brunch and the menu is categorised into breakfast, eggs, street, mains, ceviches and dessert. All very tempting. If you unfamiliar with Peruvian cuisine, this is one of the places to try besides the amazing Lima in Fitzrovia. I was here for brunch so the menu was different from the usual weekdays lunch and dinner service. For sharing I got Siwichi ceviche that consist of fresh seabass in amarillo chilli tiger’s milk, goldenberry, sweet potato, avocado and red onions(£8). This is really zingy, fresh and lively dish. Light yet pack with vibrant flavours. Must order. Another one is the Tiger’s Milk Trio: amarillo chilli with seabass, Nikkei with prawn, rocoto pepper with avocado and scallops and cancha (£5). This is like a

The food menu is varied ranging from a wide selection of street food (Peruvian Corn, Confit Pork Belly) to breakfast dishes with a Peruvian twist, some mains and of course Ceviche.

It’s a nice space, but not as hip as the Soho counterpart, but I almost find this refreshing in Shoreditch. There are clear parallels with Ceviche in the food and cocktail list, and my Pisco Sour was equally refreshing here. I was informed that they buy liquid egg-whites and don’t crack a fresh one for each drink, as they do not have use for egg-yolks. This takes away from the experience a little, but wouldn’

This is now my favourite Peruvian restaurant in London. Andina is located in Shoreditch, close to Shoreditch House, and serves Peruvian food focusing more on the food of Andes mountains (hence the name) which is different to the food that Peruvian restaurants like Ceviche and Koya serve and in my view more interesting. Ingredients like quinoa, maca, amaranth, cape gooseberry, purple maize and many more come from Andes and a lot of these you can see in Andina. Executive Chef at Andina is Tomasz Baranski. Andina is a sister restaurant to Ceviche, one of the first Peruvian restaurants that opened in London, in Soho, and I actually prefer Andina much more as I think the menu is broader, better executed and just more interesting. My boyfriend and I travelled across Peru and ate different food which is where we fell in love with the cuisine and now we have bee

Our mains were cold by the time that the salad dish was served however the risotto and the lamb were really tasty but the lamb kebabs were over cooked so a little tough. The risotto was the star dish, full of flavour and the rice very tender. My lamb dish looked very appealing but as I said was over cooked and so awkward to eat in polite company. The salad that eventually came was delicious; colourful and full of flavour. We were satisfied with the food but a little annoyed with the service so tried to get the bill. Could we find a waitress? It felt as though they were doing it on purpose and it was really grating. I have to say this place could do really well. The menu is fresh and certainly a change to the ‘hipster’ Shoreditch menus. Light, fresh and tasty. Yes the attention to detail and the service really let this place down. As a result Sex Drugs and Bacon Rolls gives this place:

We started our meal with a side of confit pork belly with rocoto chilli jam, one I wish it came in a bigger portion as it was so tasty. And that trio of tiger's milk, packed a serious punch!! It was spicy, sharp and full of flavour. Definitely not for the faint hearted, don't say I haven't warned you.

I really enjoyed Andina. I think I had reservations about Peruvian cuisine after Ceviche in Soho, and I definitely didn't like LIMA, but now that I am more used to the dishes and the style, I think Andina hits a few good spots for me - with the exception of their ceviche. It's a great brunch option to keep things light and healthy, it has plenty of variation to mix things up and to share, and the bouncy vibe was just an added bonus. That said I'm not sure if Mister enjoyed it as much as I did, perhaps it's quite a girly cuisine? I would definitely return, and would still order a ceviche dish just to make sure it wasn't a one-off slip.

There's a new restaurant opened on Shoreditch High Street. It's not selling "dirty" anything, it's not a pop-up and they aren't committing any crimes against chicken, so for these things alone we should be grateful. It's the second restaurant from Peruvian chef Martin Morales, whose first spot in Soho I quite enjoyed, and although I'm afraid it suffered slightly in comparison when Lima opened a few months later, he still deserves full marks for steering clear of bandwagons and doing his own thing while so many others are falling over themselves to just be another comfort food cash-in. Ceviche was - still is - a quirky, interesting little place that introduces Londoners to the delights of Pisco Sours and Tiger's Milk and its success was well deserved. Andina is largely more of the same, although perhaps with a more Shoreditch-y focus on the lighter side of things (salads, ceviche, smoothies, quinoa... lots of quinoa) than the meat-loving Soho crowds were after. Went there for dinner on a Tuesday night with a few friends and loved it! Being a vegetarian, they had a variety of dishes to chose from. I've tried Peruvian food before, but this was more modern. I called for the tacu tacu, corn chips with avocado and a few other dishes. The flavours we're strong and complimented each other very well. The place was upbeat but still had some heritage to it. The service was fast and efficient as well. Overall, great place and a good value for money!

Located on Redchurch street I walk past Andina multiple times every week but have never ventured in due to my own ignorance. I had the preconception that Peruvian food was meat heavy and therefore not the ideal dining experience for a vegetarian.

However, after several recommendations and a quick check online I was impressed at the amount of both vegetarian and gluten free options that were on offer.

Stepping into the brightly lit corner restaurant we were instantly welcomed by a chipper hostess and were seated downstairs. The interior design was clean and simple, yet had Peruvian accents throughout.

Sipping on a large glass of Merlot I looked at the menu once again, being a newbie I was clueless about what to order. After a quick explanation by the waitress and getting handed a special vegetarian/gluten free menu we did as advised and ordered 3 dishes each to share.

I have previously mentioned my love for shared style of eating as it is way more social and a great way to try lots of new dishes. I find that this casual style also opens up conversation, not that my boyfriend and I needed it after me just returning from a week in New York we had lots to catch up on.

As we chattered away the plates were brought to our table one by one as soon as they were ready. I love a restaurant that does this as it means that the food is incredibly fresh instead of it festering under a heat lamp.

We dined upon:

Purple Graze Tiradito – Chioggia red and golden beetroot, new and purple potatoes, amarillo chilli tiger’s milk. The tigers milk was so fierce that my mouth was on fire and I welcomed the other, more tame dishes.

Cassava Chips (v): with Andean Ocopa herb and nut dip

Corn Cake & Avocado (v): with salsa criolla

Solterito Salad (v): broad beans, tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, potatoes

and Tamalito (v): quinoa and coriander dumpling, melted cheese, salsa criolla which came rapped up like a parcel

There was not on dish that I did not enjoy – each encapsulating unique flavours, many that were new to my palate.

This being my first experience of Peruvian delicacies means I cannot say whether the food was traditional or was a modern interpretation; but what I can say is that it will not be my last culinary trip to Peru.

Overall excellent place. The service was impeccable and fast. The waiters would pour water whenever our glasses were almost empty. I ordered the Benedicto (egg, trout, quinoa pancake and asparagus) and the Red Beet juice, while my friend ordered a Full Peruvian (a 'healthier' english breakfast) and a raspberry smoothie. Both were so good and cooked perfectly. They were a pleasure to eat! Also, we sat at our table for over an hour after finishing our food and they never asked us to leave. Prices are very reasonable and will suit even a tight budget. Cannot wait to visit again!

Andina is a Peruvian restaurant founded by Martin Morales (also owner of Ceviche in Soho) on the very cool Redchurch Street. I love this part of Shoreditch - it's the perfect place for window shopping!

I have been to Andina quite a few times now. They do the whole Peruvian thing very well. It's nice to go out for a meal and not feel horribly stuffed and carb-loaded afterwards. All the ingredients are fresh and light and well, I love ceviche so its my kinda place!

It was my husbands birthday on Saturday and I took him to The Art of the Brick exhibition at the Truman Brewery. Keeping it local I decided to take him to Andina for lunch as he's never been. Ceviche comes as a welcome break from all the meat and roasted veg over Christmas.

I've not yet tried their breakfast menu but I know the rest of the menu well. If I'm out for lunch I'll go for a juice or smoothie - they are delish. If its a dinner thing I go straight for a pisco sour! They had some nice looking fruity versions too - for my next trip maybe.

I have tried every item from the 'Ceviche Bar' but I think my favourites are the Andina and the Stone Bass & Fig Tiradito. Though that's a hard decision to make! I love the addition of the sweet potato in the Andina and the fig works so well in the spicy tiger's milk of the later. I love love love tiger's milk. It's usually made using lime juice, sliced onion, chilies, salt, pepper and the juices of the fish it helps to marinate. Though every chef adds their own twist.

If you're feel like something a little more meaty, then order the chicken and lamb skewers. The lamb is cooked to perfection; very slightly pink and so juicy. The herb sauce compliments it well. The quinoa, avocado and cucumber salad is also a great dish to order alongside the rest of your meal.

And finally, desert. Another south american treat I love is dulce de leche. I remember a friend of mine from school went back to Brazil every summer and brought me back a jar of the stuff. Back then, you couldn't get it anywhere, but that didn't stop me from eating it out of the jar with a spoon! If you have a sweet tooth I recommend ordering the filo pastry with dulce de leche and pecan ice cream. You won't regret.

Its not a cheap meal out but the food is fresh and made well and a also great introduction to ceviche if you've not tried it before. Next time you're in Shoreditch definitely pop in.

Great introduction to Peruvian food, great selection of cerviche and Peruvian dinners. Good for breakfasts as well as lunch and dinner. Great decor and friendly service

Andina..

Interesting Peruvian restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch.

Founded by Martin Mores, chef of Ceviche(the restaurant in Frith Street), I was expecting to find an amazing service and food.

Well, service was excellent.. Kind staff, Peruvian design and fascinating cocktails.

As a lover of the Peruvian cuisine I was very critic in analysing the ingredients combinations and textures in every dish.

None of the dishes gave me an interesting feeling in the mouth. All the flavours were very flat without any spark that could say "Yes! This is Peruvian cuisine!"

Deluding desserts without any flavour twist or accent..

If I will go back here will be just for breakfast where I can have a good smoothie and some fresh avocado on toast.

Displeased I have to give to Andina a 3/5*

I recently was in Shoreditch checking out a normally very lively foodie festival but on this occasion the event at the Truman Brewery, East London fell short. Thankfully due to the area Spitafields, Brick Lane & Shoreditch high street, there were plenty of places on offer and we were lucky to secure a spot at the popular Peruvian restaurant, Andina. Before then we hit another hot spot (and all day hang out) Forge & Co, one of the many trendy bars in Shoreditch, please note that some bars require 'hipsters be accompanied by grown ups'. I couldn't help but wonder if these folk in Shoreditch really understand how lucky they are to have a mecca of great restaurants and bars with loads of square footage at their disposal. I am envious but then I remember how beautiful Richmond borough is, it is us who are the lucky ones with our tree-lined streets, Parks and a riverside that we enjoy so much.

When we head to Andina we find it is already filling up fast. This tapas styled eatery was created by Soho's Ceviche founder, Martin Morales. Martin dreamed of watching customers have fresh ceviche and grilled meats prepared right before their eyes.
Andina is a very busy spot and with all the chaos, staff (mainly Spanish) are incredibly welcoming and seem genuinely enthusiastic. We were offered ring-side seats to their kitchen. The menu takes some 'perusing' (get it? 'peru'sing, lol ok ignore me), this is a new style of food that are I'm admittedly not familiar with but all in all it is a selection of different styled ceviches and grilled meats with exotic dipping sauces. The staff who were thoroughly rehearsed in the contents and preparation of the dishes were quite helpful, nothing was a problem, and liked to joke with the patrons. The food comes comes out as it is prepped so everything is ready to go.
We had started off with some Mini pork chicharonnes - delicious cubes of pork belly with rocoto chilli sauce and salsa cirolla. The pork was slightly gamy (the naughty fat layers intact) and the sauce was sweet and thick. The salsa helps cut the richness - these are devilishly good bites. The Cassava Chips that followed were dense in texture and slightly sweet with plantain flavour, the exotic dipping sauce was nutty with a unique herbaceous flavour.
A real comfort plate of food.
Next was the Tamalito which consisted of quinoa and corriander filling topped with soft cheese all wrapped inside a corn husk. This was a deceivingly simple looking dish but had delicious complex flavours. It was buttery with corriander, spicy with sweet onion, quite delicious and a highlight so far. After this, we enjoyed a classic Ceviche, of fresh seabass, lime and tiger's milk - no actual tiger's involved at all but the juice from the ceviche itself. Another simple dish in appearance that came with choclo corn (the kernels are huge) and sweet potato.

However good the previous small plates were, we were still in for an incredible treat with the next two. The Monkfish and the Beef fillet steak grilled skewers were outstanding. I got so delirious over the Monkfish that I'd missed a photo op and polished it off without a thought.
These two plates I don't want to go into much detail about as to not spoil the results, but they are an absolute requirement should you visit Andina. We also tried the lamb santiago which was served with rice and beans, this was a slow cooked dish with curry like flavours but nowhere near as good as the skewers, I wouldn't bother with this dish. Stick to the skewers.
The whole experience was finished off with a sweet of Lengua De Suegra. Peruvian filo pastries, dulce de leche and pecan ice cream. This is caramelised custard like cream (ducle de leche) piped between two pieces of flaky pastry, and an absolutely divine pecan ice cream, this will have you convinced that you must come back - once again a simple dessert dish that was just outstanding. I was utterly stuffed after all this eating. I dread the inevitable fasting that follows a meal like this and as the calorific xmas period approaches I can't help but think I must be careful but, tbh - to hell with it - that's what January's for - in December I eat, drink and be merry!

Andina is exciting, fun and the food is exotic - so much value in the offerings themselves but they are all executed well. It is an amazing place to eat and would recommend a day out at Spitafields market finished by a dinner at Andina. The delicious new flavours are tantilising and the service is fun. For a real show-stopper to impress your friends Andina do a Whole Suckling Pig (needs 5 day notice) and have a private music room that can host up to 20 people - combine the two and you're in for a very special get together.

I imagine I would be waiting years for anything slightly resembling this style of eating to appear in Richmond or Twickenham (Twickenham only got it first sushi bar 18 months ago). So, until then I will continue venturing into London, even if it is to eat alongside all the 'parent assisted hipsters'.

Very enjoyable place. Colorful, stylish and original. I liked their mixed cuisine of British and Peruvian dishes. The staff was very welcoming and prompt.

When there, I decided to have one of my usual avocado on toast, which they do together with eggs.. a quite interesting mix. Very good indeed. Also, I fell in love with their detox juices. They are incredibly refreshing and the restaurant is cheap for their creativity. Indeed, 30 £ should be enough for two people. I surely recommend it !!

Andina certainly never seized to amaze me with it's brilliant service and amazing value for money. I would strongly recommend Ceviche. Obviously no restaurant can perfect in every dish that they make but yes definitely they do satisfy your taste buds with the maximum dishes they make. I strongly recommend this place.
Karan Deshmukh
This place is clearly not into making any efforts or improvements. The dishes which are delicious are in fact extremely flavorsome and consistent and those which are not as good are frankly below average and mostly bland. The server is really depressing and not in a mood to explain the dishes at all! However, their mouthwatering and divine bacon sandwiches are enough to draw me back to this place!

This is a small restaurant with some cosy spaces available. The menu is quite an extensive one with a lot of healthy options to choose from. The food offered here is a light one and it was exactly that we wanted. The atmosphere was quite lovely and this place has all the elements to become great.

This is primarily a Peruvian restaurant and the interiors are very much in sync with the cuisine. It has a modern and attractive appeal too.The location is pretty great too. I like the menu a lot too, majorly due to amazing selection of dishes on offer.
We tried a variety of dishes when we were last here and we were incredibly impressed by the taste.
i would recommend going for a brunch on the weekend , to try their Peruvian Porridge for the sheer awesomeness.

I stumbled upon this beautiful new Peruvian place. The menu is very imaginative and it's not all wheat and dairy based. The Quinoa porridge with berries was delightful and the green smoothie with avocado, spinach and fruit was divine. The staff was very friendly and the decoration is beautiful and artistic.

This is a lovely little restaurant and has a really polite and friendly staff. The food offered here is pretty extravagant and if you're a fan of trying out new dishes, this is the place for you. Most of the dishes on the menu are spicy, but tastes really amazing. The food portions were decent and it was an overall delightful experience.

This is one of those rare breakfast cafes that have a lot of healthy options. The smoothie was delicious as was the food. The food is creatively presented with fruits and flavors. the service is prompt and the staff is friendly. the prices are also very reasonable hence this place offers a great start to a day.

Never could I have been any more curious than after looking at the pictures from this fantastically built place Andina. This place has a lot of cuisines to offer. If you are ever confused about a venue to throw a party and leaving the guests swooning then this is the place to throw one. Excellent atmosphere, great ambiance, very efficient service and excellent value for money. Cheers.

Went here for a private dinner with my girlfriend and she really liked it . The staff was kind when we asked for a change of seat , and the service was wonderful too . The food was really tasty , and the steaks perfect . The meat was so succulent , and marinated well . A good experience .

When i visited here this place was full of atmosphere. The ambiance was pretty good too and same goes to the interior.
I had potato cakes which were so amazing that I really did not want to leave this place even after I finished my meal.
Their menu looks very tempting so the next time I am going there , I will try as many dishes as I can so I will be going with an empty stomach, unlike this time.

I recently visited this place and had a wonderful time here. There was a range of options on the menu and each of them pretty interesting. The food was excellent and was cooked to perfection. The service was pretty quick and efficient and thus, I would love to visit this place again. I would recommend others to try this place as well.

Considering my friend's recommendation I finally visited Andina. Surprisingly, the place turned out to be really happening and I was really impressed by the decor and the ambiance they possess. The staff was very pleasing and very friendly. They definitely without any doubt took a very good care of me till the time I left this place. You should probably try their brunch and lunch menu, it is delicious and very pocket friendly at the same time. A must visit.

I did not have very high expectations from this place but it totally surprised me. The drinks that I had were absolutely amazing and the quality of food was also top notch. The sauces that I tried also complimented the meal pretty well. I would definitely come back to this place again.

The ambiance of this place is quite unusual and quirky. The man behind the bar makes some pretty good cocktails. Food is tapas so its perfect to share with your group along with few drinks. I always prefer coming to this place whenever i am going to meet a large group of friends. Highly recommend!

We had a very good time here . The food was wonderful , everything so tasty , and cooked to perfection . Has some amazing smoothies too . We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the place to everyone . Looking forward to going back here again . A must visit .

I had an awful meal here. The dish my friend ordered was not in the least like it ought to be. It was anything but a Peruvian Lomo. The Ceviche was pathetic as the other food we ordered. The quality of the food was so substandard. The service was poor. He seemed so disinterested in the advice, my friend of Peruvian origin gave.
Mollie Wilkinson
I went here yesterday for dinner and were very excited because the decor seemed to be amazing. However, this was one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time despite the fact that I go out every next day. We were told that there is a forty five minute wait and were refused any sort of drinks. However, by the end of it, they refused us a table and we were asked to eat at the bar itself. We will never be visiting this place again.

I truly love this cozy, colourful, restaurant in Shoreditch. I had never tasted Peruvian food before and I was amazed. Love the flavours and the choice of healthy ingredients: lots of lime, avocado, corn, quinoa. I don't eat fish so I couldn't enjoy the ceviche, but the quinoa burger was definitely my favourite. Don't miss the Pisco Sour: the official Peruvian drink. So good!

A little Peruvian gem in Shoreditch. Very cosy, colourful, with menu filled with super foods, inspired by Peruvian Andes. There is also very beautiful story behind this place, which you can read on Andina’s website. That Saturday was hot and sunny. We were after something light, original, a bit different to what we usually go for. Andina ticked most of the boxes!

Full review at my blog: chichangout.org/2014/08/07/andina/

chichangout.org

Andina, a recently opened Peruvian restaurant in Shoreditch was the Friday night dining destination of choice for myself and my two old school friends, Danni and Jess.

Martin Morales, founder of Ceviche in Soho, has been fundamental in bringing the current trend of Peruvian food to London. The effect is friendly and informal rather than canteen casual.

I arrived first and ordered a nice glass of Sauv Blanc plus some cancha (crunchy Peruvian corn) to nibble on.

The corn is perfectly crunchy and salty and totally addictive! Fortunately, my friends arrived before I'd eaten the whole bowl.

Having been travelling in Peru, my friend Danni has a good knowledge the cuisine and was on hand to advise us of the best dishes to choose. We decide to share everything and would first try three starters.

First up was the tiger's milk trio. The three shots glasses comprised amarillo chilli with seabass, Nikkei with Prawn, rocoto pepper with avocado and scallops, with cancha. And more of that addictive corn!! Tiger's milk is the Peruvian name for the citrus marinade that cures the seafood and is a common ingredient in ceviche.

The waitress had warned us that this wasn't really a dish for sharing as the shot glasses were small but we did divvy it up so each of got to try the little glasses of gourmet deliciousness. We enjoyed all the ceviches and each was more spicy than the last. But I love spicy food!

Pan-fried green beans with cancha corn in sacha inchi oil made the perfect accompaniment and the oil was light and non-greasy.

Finally for starter a neat little package of flavour. Steamed quinoa and coriander dumpling, fresco cheese and salsa criolla. The dumpling was creamy but with a bite to it owing to the grainy quinoa.

At this point it was time to order Piscos! Pisco is a grape brandy produced in the winemaking regions of Peru, and it makes a damn fine cocktail! Danni went for the classic Pisco Sour, lime, sugar syrup, egg white and amargo chuncho bitters. It is one of her favourite cocktails and she was not disappointed by Andina's version.

Here's mine:
A Vida Eterna: marigold and mandarin infused pisco, juniper berries, guava juice and tonic water. Very refreshing!

Next came our sharing main courses.

Creamed quinoa with artichokes, wild mushrooms and tarragon. Like our quinoa starter this was creamy yet grainy. It was a tasty dishy but probably better placed as a side dish alongside a protein-based main. Kind of a Peruvian mashed potato! Comfort food but not really a star dish in itself.

Traditional casserole of chicken, amarillo chilli, pecan nuts, rice and crispy quinoa coated chicken was pronounced the firm favourite of the three of us. A delicious crispy chicken, sort of like a healthy (ish!) KFC!

Three cool potato cake with different toppings: scallops with amarillo chilli mayonnaise, pan-fried hake with salsa criolla and grilled trout with avocado and grapefruit with rocoto jam. I probably would have preferred the potato cakes warm but it was good to try three different dishes and the colour pop on the plate was beautiful!

We were tempted by dessert especially when we saw the pumpkin doughnuts arrive at the table next to us! But we decided to hold back and it was on to Shoreditch House (round the corner from Andina) for more Friday night fun!

Andina is a lovely little restaurant but personally I prefer Morales first restaurant, Ceviche, and for truly stunning Peruvian food head to Michelin-starred Lima in Fitzrovia.

I LOVE this Eastern sister to Ceviche, located on Shoreditch High Street on the corner of Redchurch Street.

It has a cosy, family feel (typical of South America), staff that look like they're just having fun, and visually stimulating decor including gigantic pots of Pisco marinading in a range of ingredients for their exciting cocktail menu.

There is also a downstairs, where couples can get cosy and enjoy watching mixologists at work at the downstairs bar. Upstairs is more open pan, with windowed walls letting in the light and getting passers-by jelous of your Peruvian feast!

The ideal way to explore this menu is to order from the starters and small plates and share. However, there are large plates available for those that find the former option too fiddly.

My favourite dishes were the fresh ceviche, containing palate-cleansing and vibrant ingredients, as was the choclo corncake, a creamy yet solid savoury cake served alongside a wonderfully creamy huancaina sauce. ]

Cocktails are also fantastic; I recommend trying a Peruvian influenced Pisco. For those not in the spirit for spirits, they also have an impressive and healthy smoothie collection that seems worth trying.

Having only tried their dinner menu, I am tempted to revisit for a brunch-time Peruvian feast!

Ali

http://londonismyplayground.wordpress.com/?s=Andina&submit=Search

I came in here with high expectations after having sampled Martin Morales's ceviche @ Ceviche in Soho and happy to report that Andina did not disappoint. It could have gone horribly wrong as we were a large group with continually changing numbers and varying levels of tardiness. Andina's staff were super flexible in accommodating our ever changing needs for numbers and timing right up to the last minute on the prerequisite that we order the set menu.

I normally hate set menus, I like the decision process when sitting down at a restaurant (often the the dismay of my fellow diners at how long I can spend carefully choosing what would pair well together on the menu), I'm often left with the feeling that I missed out on the good stuff! However, I can appreciate the needs of the kitchen staff too so I asked if I could order some additional a la carte items on top. The waitress's initial response was shock... there was a moment where we were lost in translation and we clearly were. From the list of 9 items on the set menu I assumed we had to choose a max of 3, however that is not the case. £30 gets you the whole lot! Ordering on top of that was indeed slight overkill! Forget the a la carte then, just get some Pisco Sour's in.

I sneaked out a copy of the day's set menu, see if you can pair up the dishes with the photos:

Yucas
Sato - this is amazing - don't miss out on it
Ceviche Andina - and this
Quinoa Salad - and this
Choclo Corn Cake
Sea Trout Tartare Causa
Chicken Thigh Skewers
Lamb Skewers
Sacha Inchi Green Beans
Quinoa Chocolate Brownie

Miso Full!!

The weekend brunch menu we tried had "breakfast" and "eggs" sections, with a number of starter-sized things under the heading "street" alongside the important ceviches. Three of us got to try quite a range of dishes, none of them being overfacingly large, although it should be pointed out that with many "small plates" menus, the bill has a tendency to creep north of comfortable once it's all added up.

Star of the show were, as you might have expected, the ceviches. We tried two; the Sato with trout and pecan nuts, sharp and refreshing and with plenty of juicy fish; and the Siwichi, seabass with sweet half-spheres of goldenberry (physalis) and raw onion. You can't really go wrong with ceviche here or in Soho, it's Morales' strongest suit and quite rightly so.

Tamalito was a kind of mini quinoa tamale stuffed with cheese and was a nice bit of filler, if a bit teeny for the asking price of £5.50. Prawn chupe was more generous in spirit and flavour, containing more quinoa, nice big juicy prawns and with a good, strong seafood kick.

Causas Amantani was ordered mainly out of curiosity, and even after after it had gone we weren't quite sure what to make of it. Cold mashed potato is not something you'd ordinarily rush to eat, and though each colourful cake was topped with some very nicely-cooked seafood (I particularly enjoyed the scallop with a good browned crust) you still ended up having to struggle through quite a bit of chilly spud. If they're going to serve the seafood hot, why not warm the potato as well? Maybe it's some Peruvian thing.

Desserts were good. Our favourite was a lúcuma fruit (no idea) mousse with a biscuit made of yet more quinoa, although the quinoa (I'm not making this up) chocolate brownie was decent too, even if it would have perhaps been better made with, I dunno, flour. It was topped with a quinoa biscuit. Of course it was.

With some interesting smoothies, a house Bloody Mary (made with beetroot and pisco, and probably quinoa) and a little bowl of incredibly moreish Peruvian corn caled cancha (which I don't think had quinoa in but wouldn't swear to it), the bill came to £84.38 for three people. This is a lot for brunch, and although we didn't walk away disappointed by any means, it still wasn't exactly a bargain. But as with Ceviche in Soho, it's an interesting, confidently idiosynractic little restaurant and if you want an introduction to Peruvian food - or are inexplicably addicted to quinoa - you could do much worse than book a table.

7/10
