I love this place. The breakfast is always phenomenal but today I tried lunch... This was absolutely wonderful. Being able to sit outside and soak up the sun whilst lunching was divine. The waiters were wonderful with a smile plastered on their faces with friendly banter and good recommendations on the dishes. 10 out of 10! Can't wait to go back.

Lovely breakfast/brunch place. The food is really good and the menu is very diverse for different tastes and dietary requirements. The prices are okay for the quality of food. We had the baked eggs which was super delicious! Their coffee is also top. Their outdoor seating is also really nice during the summer time. Highly recommended!

Caravan never disappoints!! the shakshouka was so lovely with a depth of flavour - and such a generous portion as well! the vanilla pancakes were so good too. the mocha was one of the better ones i’ve had :)

After spending a weekend in London, on the last morning, we decided to have breakfast at Caravan Exmouth Market. It was very close to the bus stop, so perfect location for us. The staff greeted and welcomed us, offering to keep our luggage on a side while we're at the table. It was a great experience, lovely and perfectly done poached eggs. I believe they came from a farm, because they were very nutritious and even it looks like a small portion, together with the sourdough bread, it kept us full for a long while. A really cosy and chic place to enjoy a meal.

Caravan always produces such incredible flavours. So fresh and unusual. With really generous portions. And lovely staff. I ordered vegan so i could share with my friend - who said it's the best vegan food in town - if that is useful info. Otherwise check out the cod dumplings - stunning! Love this place.

Nice breakfast/brunch place on the corner street in Exmouth Market. While the market street was quiet on the Sunday we visited, this cafe was vibrant and busy inside. There’s good selection of breakfast and brunch options on their menu and we had the pancakes and the chorizo with potatoes, poached eggs and spinach and both were delicious. Their coffee was really nice too.

Really enjoyed a beautiful brunch here, coffee was lovely, food was amazing and service was brilliant. Will definitely be back.

Food is healthy and nicely presented. Lovely, friendly service as well. I ordered the halloumi large plate salad which was delicious. My friend ordered the salmon dish which he liked but probably at a 4 rather than 5* level.

We went there for brunch on a Sunday morning (Best to book in advance). Nice food and lovely atmosphere!

Really enjoyed our Saturday dinner at Caravan. I really like their creative twist on the menu. Their pan fried sea bass is especially good. The staff was very accommodating and swapped my friend’s dish for another one at her request as it wasn’t clear from the menu if it was served cold or hot.

Great choice of food and cocktails. Excellent friendly and speedy service. Great if you're at the theatre. Recommend the aubergine bhaji, comes with all sorts of great accompaniments. Salmon and avocado rice bowl was great too.

I’m not a “brunch” person, but I tried this place out since it’s popular for brunch and ordered the bacon chop, bubble and squeak fritters that comes with poached eggs. It was simply incredible. Bacon was cooked to perfection and the fritters went perfect well with it. I like how the menu states the calories.
Good service and strong cocktails. Can’t comment on the ambience because we sat outside. Would definitely re-visit.
Edit: I re-visited Caravan for brunch and ordered the fried jalapeño cornbread. It tasted pretty good, but nothing compared to the bacon chop (didn’t look as nice either). I still stand on the 5 stars though.

Called in for Brunch while travelling across London. Great little spot with outside seating. Ordered the Chorizo and potato hash with a coffee and fresh fruit smoothie. Lots of options to choose from on the menu and staff were pleasant. Would definitely eat here again if I'm ever in the capital. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.

Almost perfect! I went last Sunday for brunch, the vegan option (in the picture, don't remember the name) was amazing! The only thing was hot chocolate has milk so it was not vegan friendly ;( coffee was good I had (2) Cappuccino. Service was good and we ate outside. I highly recommend this place to go!! 🌟🔥 Definitely coming back soon!!

I wanted to leave a quick review after we dropped in for lunch, and I had the seasoned rice bowl with crispy tofu - my god. It was so good. Please keep this on the menu! I felt so nourished afterwards. Then, the server brought out the cookbook so we could have a poke through. Just a really nice time, I’ll come back to Exmouth more often now.

Lovely brunch! Would happily go again
Food & service were both great, and they've got a large variety of well crafted options, both for drinks and for food. The food was great, aaaalmost 5 stars although I'd need slightly more to give it that 😋 the dishes lacked a tiny touch to bump it up
With that being said I still highly recommend and you wouldn't regret going there the slightest

This establishment is concerned more with looks than taste. I ordered the breakfast, however the eggs were overdone and the toast was soggy. I got a small amount of ketchup -- like a tablespoon. Then i was charged £20. PLUS a tip -- they didn't ask, they just added it. When you have to pay £20 plus tip for a less than perfect breakfast then something is wrong. Having said that, the food was above average and the service good. This place has a high rating on google. Like supposedly one of the best in the City. i expected more.

Popped in for a coffee. It had a good lively atmosphere at the restaurant. The staff were friendly. Did not eat here so cannot comment on prices.

Came here for lunch with a work colleague just by chance, was really busy and we didn't have a reservation but they managed to sit us upstairs. I had the seabass red coconut curry (doesn't come with rice) so I was advised to order chips with it to dip in to it (bit random), the curry was £19 on its own and when it said large plate it was literally a seabass fillet on some chopped up carrot, a few peanuts and a sauce. The chips were nice but not sure they really go! Bill came to £40 (they put service charge on), for my main plus half the chips and half a bottle of prosecco. I feel this is really expensive for what it was. I wouldn't say it was a "large plate" of food. Don't think I would come back. The menu is not very big either.
Amanda Atlee
Very beautiful space, wait staff were attentive.. I must have drunk 3L of water cause it just kept getting filled up! We just had a few drinks and a small bite. I liked it but it's probably a little too expensive and smancy feeling for what it is.

Caravan Exmouth Market is the original branch of the expanding Caravan cafe brand (there’s another in Kings Cross) and is another of those “Australian” style cafes which focuses on great coffee, breakfasts and a range of appealing all-day options.

From Student to Chef. For starters with the paté, I used the bread I had, cut off the crusts and then sliced through the middle to create thin wafer type pieces of bread. These were toasted and used to scoop up the paté. Therefore, I became a gourmet chef. With the Steaks, I cooked once at room temperature, I seasoned as a chef would and cooked the steak medium rare, just as I like it. See, you do not need to go out of your way to make your partner feel special. The rest of the meal was all Waitrose- for which I thank them. The sides of fries and veg were stuffed into the oven and cooked and devoured. To end it all, a delightful salted caramel tart. This is value and is great for students, for couples, for singletons, for anyone. All of the food above and in addition, a bottle of red wine too. I love going out to restaurants as anyone who knows me will tell you. However, I also love to cook and appreciate value. £20 for two for an evening out, is unheard of, putting in extra effort to cook is priceless.

As a food blogger, pictures are vitally important. I have tried to improve the quality on mine, because i realise they are what capture the readers attention.Matthew Draper, who i used to work with many years ago, is someone i have been following on Facebook and Instagram and the quality of his pictures are really inspiring. For this reason I decided to Interview Matthew. I wanted to understand how he now has over 1000 followers on Instagram, won awards and what makes a good picture. Exmouth Market is a favorite haunt of mine due to the abundance of reasonably priced restaurants offering well prepared cuisine.

My usual Italian restaurant was operating at full capacity on a weekday evening, and it looked like at least an hour long wait.

We were a group of four, and not feeling up to a long wait, headed off in this direction and found Caravan equally full. While we were waiting hesitantly at the door, a whirlwind of a waiter named Miguel materialized before us, and greeted us pleasantly and in a moment, had cleaned up a table and seated us comfortably.

We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo, and settled down to peruse the menu, after ordering a starter to share, which was the Blue Cheese and peanut wontons with soy sauce, which arrived shortly and was excellently prepared, and tasty by itself. The sweet soy introduced a bit of sweetness, but also made it just a bit over salty.

We were served a taster of yogurt with sumac and sesame, which was a combination of ingredients I had never tasted before. It was an excellent marriage of flavours.

For the main course we ordered the Dill cured Salmon with horseradish cheese and sourdough crumb. The softshell crab with kohlrabi, peanuts, cashew nuts and nuoc cham, and the Pan fried Duck Liver, with sauerkraut, brioche and coffee red wine sauce.

The mains were exceptionally good with a blend of new and unusual flavours. The only defect I found was that the connective tissue in the duck liver could have been trimmed out before cooking. It introduced an unnecessarily chewy and unpleasant texture to an otherwise well prepared dish. Several portions of bread and butter were ordered to accompany the mains.

For dessert we ordered the Affogato, and Chocolate Beetroot cake with passionfruit icecream, and almond praline. They were both well made with just the right flavours without being overpoweringly sweet.

I topped this all off with a Cappuccino which was exceptional, and bursting with full bodied coffee flavour with not a hint of bitterness. So good that I was able to consume it without adding any sugar! I ended up ordering a second cup!

It was an unexpectedly peasant meal, combined with friendly, courteous and professional service. Gabby, and Miguel were warm and friendly, and need special recognition for rendering us exceptional service which was warm, friendly and inviting. Miguel welcomed us warmly, and Gabby attended on us diligently. We felt comfortable at this place, and look forward to going back.

Fusion Cuisine at its finest!

I enjoyed the brunch, overall, and I would love to go back to either locations in Kings Cross and Exmouth Market (admittedly, the prospect of a long wait might send me somewhere else!).

My other foodie half had ‘Chickpea, Tomato, Roast Sweet Potato and Manouri’. I didn’t try it but he explained that it was a basic salad of the ingredients listed above with a bit of sweet and sour sauce. It was nothing amazing but still decent, he said. I could however see that he very much enjoyed the side dishes as I did.

While the stalls on Exmouth Market are only open for lunchtime weekdays, it is lined with Brunch is served between 10 and 4 o'clock, and compared to a lot of other London brunch spots, the wait is not too bad. It is always packed, but hanging around in the bar for 15 minutes should be enough to get a table. I have been to Caravan for brunch on three occasions, and every time I've ordered the same thing; baked eggs with chorizo. Served in tomato sauce with a runny yolk, these little dishes are amazing. They could be a bit more generous with the greek yogurt, but otherwise it is a perfect meal. As a side I recommend the avocado on sourdough bread, which is quite pricey at £5, but good enough to warrant it. Their baked goods change daily, and I was lucky enough to catch the banana bread once. It's one of the better banana breads I've tried, soft yet slightly burnt, and just sweet enough. It was so good that I got some extra to take home with me. The service at Caravan, on the other hand, is awful. The head waiter was so rude that my friend felt she couldn't leave without informing him of what she though. Not being as brave, I prefer to make my criticisms here on the blog. The lack of friendliness from the staff is what dragged down the Hanger-Meter rating for this restaurant. If you are ok with poor service, like I am, you should still go and enjoy some delicious baked eggs.

Good Food Terrible Service. We must have chosen a bad day, unlucky for us. Whilst the food was wonderful, the service was close to being the worst I've ever experienced. Waitress had a very bad attitude, disliked it when we interrupted her chat in calling her over to make an order after waiting unserved for about 25 minutes. From then on it was just tense and uncomfortable when she came to the table. She had no intention of being friendly. Utterly disgusting, and really let the experience down. The other waiter was equally uninterested in us. I'd never return since so many other places in the area guarantee a better experience, and nobody should feel uncomfortable when dining in a restaurant of this stature.

Missed every mark. We came here for a birthday dinner, and (presumably because of the group booking) were forced into the set 3-course menu. not itself a problem, but caravan is the only place i've been where a set menu does not offer at least as good value as the same combination a la carte. we paid £35 each, whereas the most expensive entre+main+dessert a la carte would barely crack £30.

the standard of food was a mix of ordinary and bad. a couple of okay ideas among the entrees, but my main tasted awful (hake in a cream sauce with lentils, pickled yellow beetroot and peppers). the combination of cream sauce and the sweet acidic vegetables was sickly. panna cotta overdid the gelatine and was almost as solid as asian grass jelly. the only decent dishes i tasted were a smoked salmon entree and my partner's chocolate delice dessert.

entrees were a fixed combination shared among the table yet my partner, a vegetarian, was not catered for (except in the 'complimentary' amuse bouche when she was spared the salmon-flavoured cream soup). she made do with 'corn bread with jalepeno butter' absent jalepeno butter.

service was brusque and slightly incompetent, interrupting a number of conversations with an arms across faces or to have us rearrange something on the table. noise in the dining room was so loud when we arrived that it was difficult to hear the person opposite.

and then as a final indignity, before the last of us had finished our dessert, staff turned up the house lights.

i felt so slighted that i was compelled to write my first ever internet review, at risk of being lumped with the moaning haters i tend to enjoy mocking. thankfully we had a lovely night with friends in spite of everything.

Disappointed but warned. Having heard rapturous reviews from a friend who eats out at least three times a week, I excitedly told her I had booked Caravan for supper: "Which one?", "Exmouth Market", "Not as good as Kings Cross" she said. I can only assume she is right about Kings Cross branch as she was right about Exmouth Market. The menu is unique without falling for ubiquitous flavour combinations of our zeitgeist. Though for a table of four, the waitress should have advised us to try less and instead double up on small plates as sharing them between us left only a two small mouthfuls each. The only thing we did double up on was the razor clams which half the table didn't swallow as tasted "funky"; the other half did swallow though with no rapture and rather relieved when not up all night ill. Highlights were the vegetarian dishes - broccoli with chilli and the cornbread. Quail was uninspiring and crispy pancakes were flat. As one of the first purveyors of small eats, they've since been undercut in price across London by regularly higher quality dishes with more relaxed surroundings. This still fits into the large open room square tables format despite the bare brick decor. The Malbec however was a treat and may be why I cannot recall exactly what else we ordered though I expect if it had been outstanding I still could...

Bad service, bad value, bad fish. I agree with the reviewer below. This dish was revolting. Bad value for money. Waiters ignored me for the first fifteen minutes as the whole party hadn't arrived and didn't allow us to have an extra chair for an unexpected guest.
Life On Mars.Bars.
Something fishy... £16 badly plaiced. Went before a trip to the theatre and it will be my first and last time to Caravan for dinner [though heard it's much better at brunch]. The mains were overpriced and my choice was so weird and bad that it haunted me throughout the performance.

It was a role-call of delicious ingredients: plaice, tiger prawns, swiss chard, kohlrabi, Jerusalem artichokes... But alarm bells should have rung! NONE OF THESE INGREDIENTS TASTE NICE TOGETHER! Did anyone taste this before putting it on the menu? In addition to being much worse than the sum of its parts, the plaice was cooked with a soggy, sloppy batter that dribbled off the fish in a seminal fashion. The prawns were dry and chewy. The whole dish was hugely over salted in an attempt to mask the terrible mismatch of ingredients.

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SPEND IT SOMEWHERE THAT CARES ABOUT FOOD NOT VIBE. I'm sorry Morito, I should never have left you.

On the way to the show I had to stop off at the cornershop to pick up gum to remove the BAD FISH taste, while fellow diners grabbed at chocolate and sweets to fill the hole that the over-priced yet under-portioned dinner had left.

I have been addicted to Caravan brunches for some time, so my friend
(and fellow addict) and I thought we should see how the evening at our favourite place pretty much ever compared.

I was craving French toast corn bread the moment I walked through door, hallelujah corn bread was on the menu as a starter.

The meal was everything that brunch at Caravan is: surprisingly exceptional with an intense but perfect mix of flavours.

The staff are always amiable but this time a little lax and forgot our wine order. But this was no dampener. Caravan remains my most favouritist place, like, ever.

Interesting but bad value. To be fair, we only had brunch and with my partner, had an order each with coffee. The place was buzzing and service was slow, we almost had to grab someone and insist on some attention. We ordered the baked eggs with chorizo and cornbread french toast with bacon and avocado. The food eventually arrived and I discovered my baked eggs consisted of 2 small eggs baked in a small earthenware dish with a few small slices of chorizo and some tomato salsa. No bread, no accompaniment. I asked for some toast and that cost me an additional £2. So, in all, I paid £11 for a pretty small portion of eggs and sausage. The Breakfast Club does an entire English breakfast with toast and hash browns for under £10!! And damn good quality too! Caravan is cool and in a great location but if I am hungry, it won't be my first port of call.

Lovely for a treat. Exmouth market is full of tempting restaurants - from upscale Moro to the decidely good value sushi, pizza and turkish restaurants. Caravan is well worth heading for if you are looking for something original - the menu is well thought out and unusual combinations will have you munching away merrily. It's not cheap, but worth it for a treat.

Great food, coffee, and cocktails.. I went here with my girlfriend some months ago, as we had heard it has some of the best coffee in Great Britain. It lived up to that, and more. Finding filter coffee is difficult enough already, but Caravan goes above and beyond and tastes like awesome.

Not only is the coffee amazing, the food is amazing. Simple plates - like avacado on toast are garnished with just the right spices to call to the full-bodied, creamy avacado. The sourdough reminds me of San Francisco, and espresso of Italy (actually, better!).

I make a point of going to Caravan every time I'm in town, as well as bringing friends there.

Providores quality comes to Exmouth Market. Excellent service, perfectly balanced mojito and very tasty food. Worth ordering 5 or 6 small dishes between 2 (very memorable lamb, pork bun, tomato+chilli soup), good New World wine list and delicious desert (superb sorbet, rich chocolate etc.). Didn't try the coffee, will do next time. Really looking forward to going again.

Antipodean foodie favourite Caravan is that rare beast: a restaurant works just as well for a casual brunch as it does for a romantic date. Located in Clerkenwell’s Exmouth Market, Caravan prides itself on its adventurous menu, made with fresh seasonal ingredients and served in an open and relaxed setting. The flavourful brunch menu ranges from simple yet well made staples to more eccentric choices. We enjoyed spectacular poached eggs on toasted sourdough, with side dishes of avocado and thyme roasted Portobello mushrooms. Caravan also offers options for those with a sweet tooth, including a splendid banana caramel porridge. The evening menu is updated regularly, but always contains a decent vegetarian offering. We loved the small sharing plates – three per person is more than enough, trust us! – particularly the sweetcorn cooked with teriyaki butter and chilli and the falafel served wi

On Saturday morning I met a friend for brunch at Caravan. It’s a great little place in Exmouth Market and the menu features a take on the classic fry-up as well as a few unusual goodies. I had never been before but it lived up to the positive reviews I have heard – plus the sun was shining so we got to eat outside. No pictures as I’m still a little self-conscious about getting my camera out at the dinner table, but my friend had the fry-up (two friend eggs, bacon, roast tomatoes and soy mushrooms on sourdough toast) and I tucked into a mackerel, potato and roasted tomato omelette with saffron aioli. Our verdict? Delicious, and really filling. We spent the rest of the day walking around town, trying to work it off. I’m starting to become a coffee snob, visibly turning my nose up after a sip of coffee from a certain high street chain. I never used to be like this, but I’ve had a lot of great coffee recently and you start to notice the difference. The flat white at Caravan though was pre

Caravan’s brunch menu is intriguing; with salt pork welsh rarebit, spied aubergine with goats cheese and butternut squash, and ham hock hash with honey mustard hollandaise. Guiltily, we ordered the more mainstream dishes, but it was 8am and we hadn’t even had a damn coffee. Luckily Caravan is a specialist in the field of caffeine, complete with an on-site roastery creating Aribica blends to MATCH the season. Would you believe it!

I am sometimes laughed at for loving brunch too much, but this place backs me up. It’s about a fifteen minute walk from King’s Cross station – I met K there one Saturday morning before she jumped on a train to Yorkshire. If you’re craving proper breakfast food but want a refreshing upgrade on the standard fry up, Caravan is the spot. Start, as lots of good mornings do, with a Bloody Mary… I had a fresh carrot, apple and ginger juice and it was scrumdiddlyumptious. I often think that fruit juices in London restaurants are a rip off – you get a small portion of something that doesn’t taste special for a big price. I was very pleasantly surprised by the juice here. A generous glass, and really delicious. Food arrived quickly – for me a countryside feel, carbier (can I use that as a word?!) twist on Eggs Benedict. Ham hock hash, poached eggs, peas and honey mustard hollandaise. K had avocado on toasted sourdough, with o

Caravan is a restaurant, bar and coffee roaster located in Exmouth Market, Islington (and now they also have a branch in Kings Cross). I have been to Caravan once before for brunch and this is one of the best brunch places in London as their food is very creative, the restaurant is always full, creating a great atmosphere and they do great coffees. This time I came here for dinner with my friends and was surprised to see that their dinner food was equally good. Caravan sits 48 people in their ground floor dining room and they also have a private room downstairs by the kitchens, seating 12 people. The food is very good, it draws influence from all over the world and there are items there you would not expect to see on a menu, and it works together surprisingly well. The menu is divided into “oysters”, “bread, cheese, meats”, “small plates”, “la

The atmosphere is quite frenetic as it got busier, a lot of people had decided to meet at 11, as by 11:30 most people had been seated and things had calmed down. Caravan is one of the trendiest restaurants of Exmouth Market. Located at the beginning of the street, the place is certainly ridding on a wave of popularity for brunch and casual dinners. It's certainly true that the layout is perfect to enjoy your friends, either in a big group on one of their long wooden tables or as a one-to-one on the high tables beside the bar.

The bar area is cool, and I'd definitely like to go back here with friends for a drink and maybe some light bites one evening - with such a great atmosphere at noon on a Sunday, when most people are nursing hangovers, I would love to see what it's like later on.

...went for a large plate (as I’m a growing boy) – Barnsley lamb chop, sweet potato gnocchi, cherry tomatoes, peas and mint sauce (£16). The flavour combinations were spot on – meaty lamb, fresh mint, tangy tomatoes and sweet gnocchi. The Barnsley chop was cooked to perfection – soft pink meat and crispy fat round the edge. The mint sauce was some of the best I’ve ever tasted.

Loved the Squid Pancake, a Japanese style pancake served with mayo and okonomiyaki sauce. The Cornbread and Chipotle Butter and the Sweetcorn with Teriyaki butter were great. The Pickled Mackerel was also a stand out. Liked the sharing plate, nice falafel, eggplant relish, hummus and merguez sausage but could have done without the pickled carrots. The salt beef fritters were too dry, the accompanying beans with mustard dressing also didn't do it for me. Forget the Pork filled Gypsy Bun, thick, hard pastry with dry pork, very disappointing. The staff are a little to chummy with each other, dancing about and faking that they really like each other, it felt a bit like Empire Records at times but no one was as hot as Liv Tyler.
The Perfect Trough
Caravan is daring, innovative and has great variety without trying to do too much or being spread too thin. The wine list is serious, they have Camden lager on draught and I can’t wait to return with some friends one evening, and try more of their zanier dishes; using espresso mole, cassava and of course the tempting fried chicken with watermelon, amongst many others. Bravo!

the meal was delicious; generous portions, fresh produce, a genuine understanding of flavours and textures that work harmoniously on a plate.

I shared the baked eggs for two and they came served with a tomato and pepper ragout and greek yoghurt with chorizo (£18). This was a very filling and satisfying dish, with the runny egg yolks, creamy yoghurt, flavoursome chorizo and ragout coming together, to produce some kind of awesome. As it was quite a gloopy dish and didn’t come with toast we had to order some for an extra £2.50 which seemed a bit steep.

I had to try to the Peanut Butter & Blue Cheese Wontons, containing two of my favourite flavours together inside a crispy wonton sounds like my kind of heaven. You may be sceptical but these were amazing.

They’re blooming at pimping out dishes you’d make at home, pushing them way beyond the boundaries of what a Sunday morning hangover normally allows you to create. They pimped out beans on toast by serving homemade chilli beans, a chunk of melted goats cheese and a runny fried egg (£9). I couldn’t resist the chorizo so added a side of the stuff for a slightly expensive but very worth it £4. T

Nestled in the lovely Exmouth Market, Caravan does a hell of a lot - acting as a cafe, restaurant, bar, wholesaler and shop. Interesting. When I first heard the name, it conjured up images of a small porter cabin with drapes and women sitting around looking like fortune tellers. So when I got around to visiting, I was surprised. Pleasantly surprised mind. I don't know why though as I'd be more surprised if I had found the porter cabin in it's place. Wooden rough and ready tables, rustic jugs and bare floors, Caravan has taken the minimal approach and it's one that I love. Many of my friends have dined at Caravan but I was most interested in visiting to see the ginormous coffee roaster that I heard is hiding in the basement. And my it looks pretty. The kitchen is headed up by ex-head chef of The Providores in Marylebone, so it’s no surprise that the food is fantastic.

o and a and i met at caravan in exmouth market for brunch on sunday. as is the trend these days we couldn't make a reservation so we waited at the bar. it was very busy and we did have a considerable wait. what was nice though was that we were kept update

Odd name for a restaurant, Caravan. I don’t imagine the name appeals to many people, at least not at first instance. I would guess that most people associate the word with either 1(a) or 4 above. Which means people are thinking traffic jams and wet bank h

Miles Kirby was the head chef at Providores, the original London fusion restaurant. The theme continues here in this trendy Exmouth Market location. "Small plates" were mostly priced from £5-£7, "large plates" £15, desserts around £6.

There is definitely a whole lotta food love in this place, it's a journey of many cultures, gastro-clashes and culinary mash-ups if there ever was. And it all works, which is why my heart (and tummy) swells with excitement when I recall our visit to this Exmouth Market newcomer. How can I describe it? Since identifying the tapas trend in London, I see it going a step further. Caravan has a distinct influence of Chinese and African influence to the little and wholesome dishes it churns out. It's real talent to bring a unique take on such well-known and familiar dishes. Too many places in London have tried to "re-invent" a cuisine, only to d

The Caravan fitout is a bit rustic, a bit industrial and a touch eclectic. The service counter is made up of sanded scaffolding planks and above it hangs a line of glass recycled cow milk bottles used as light shades

I suspect I’ll have eaten my way round it come summer.

Caravan has recently opened on Exmouth Market (one of my favourite London streets) with Miles Kirby from Marylebone gem The Providores at the helm.

When I recently visited this new restaurant/bar in Exmouth Market, I don't think I experienced the best of what it has to offer. Despite most aspects of Caravan being perfectly good, I imagine it really comes into its own for breakfast or a leisurely week

Caravan doesn't need any more good reviews. The world loves it. It was already buzzing when we got there at the keeno time of 10:15am on a Saturday morning after a swim at Ironmonger Row. What I find most interesting about Caravan and its antipodean ilk i

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Caravan. Apart from saying the same as everyone else that it is great. We hit Caravan around noon on a fine Sunday. The sun was out, the sky was blue and freshness was in the air. A glorious day. The indu

They have a great brunch menu that focuses on seasonal ingredients. The ham hock hash with poached eggs was to die for and their orange scented pancakes were perfectly fluffy. Be prepared to wait for a table if going for brunch. It's a really popular spot.

The Caravan, which occupies a strategic location at the mouth of Exmouth Market, was one of the few places that were opened on the Bank holiday. The others are Nero, Starbucks and probably Strada. Even Necco’s doors were shut. Probably because of that, th

Australians like to claim New Zealand's best and brightest as their own. Take Russell Crowe as an example, when he is winning Oscars he is Australian but when he is throwing phones at hotel receptionists we quickly describe him as a Kiwi. Continuing on in

There's a band wagon, I'm on it. Everyone hearts Caravan , I've not read 1 bad review so I pretty much knew I would love it. Last weekend, accompanied by the girls, I brunched and it was honestly one of the best brunches I can ever remember having. No que

I have been to the other Caravan near Kings Cross station quite a few times and love it so I was more than happy to try their Clerkenwell version when we were in the area.
However even with their fantastic coffee I wasn't sold on the place and will definitely be sticking to their Kings Cross counterpart.

The interior is more English pub, in layout and style, compared to the large open warehouse like space from Kings Cross. It felt a bit crowded and claustrophobic, however it was very busy at 3pm on a Sunday. We said we wanted to have a coffee and some cakes and were led to a table in the center of the room. Note: we said we wanted coffee.

The filter coffee: delicious, soft and subtle flavors. Served in a cool little beaker.

About half way through my coffee (about 10-15 minutes later, i am not a ridiculously slow drinker, I just went to the bathroom mid way through) a man came over and very abruptly and very rudely said we need to leave since we weren't eating. Understandable if we had been there an hour. Absolutely no need to be as rude as he was. No one had even offered us the bill yet which is usually the first step in ushering guests out.

All in all great coffee doesn't make up for not so pleasant staff. Stick to the Kings Cross version!

Quality food and drink with a seasonal ethos. Coffee roasted in the basement is served along side a menu of fresh seasonal ingredients. The food is high quality as is the presentation, good selection of alcohol and great service.

I went to Caravan after hearing rave reviews about its brunch menu. The place has very much a bar feeling about it and as a setting is perhaps slightly more suited to the evening, although I haven’t tasted the dinner menu.

Food- The food here although tasty erred on being slightly style over substance. The menu is exciting to look at with offerings such as French toast with bacon, maple syrup and avocado, spicy breakfast tortillas and pancakes as well as the usual breakfast fare. Perhaps I ordered wrong, but I was disappointed with my smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast; the one slice of toast which held the dish together was tiny and the scrambled eggs themselves were mediocre so did not make up for the small portion size. My friend had the French toast which was a lot more impressive, as it came with American style bacon and maple syrup that looked and tasted great with the accompanying guacamole.

I will definitely return for dinner or drinks as the alcohol menu was extensive and filled with delicious looking cocktails.

Famous for it's coffee I naturally started the meal with an espresso martini and was not disappointed. I enjoyed most of the dishes ordered, don't get the duck salad. All in all so nice wish I had left room for dessert.

I love this place for a brunch on the week end. I had the couscous and it was gorgeous. The staff is friendly and the area is great. The first time I went it was just because there were a lot of people and the menu looked good. Since then I have come back many times. You will not be disappointed by the food or the atmosphere. Impress your friends with this brunch paradise.

Caravan! Great little place at the corner of Exmouth market. If exmouth market was a cake, Caravane would be its cherry. I dont want to get too excited about this place but i would say its definitely worth the trip. Best time to go is in the morning or early afternoon as they serve a great brunch menu. I went for the eggs and salmon, a fantastic light dish. very simple. Service is great and very friendly. Little touch that caravane has is the blankets for when you sit outside. one can only respect that. Interior atmosphere and space is also very cosy.

my advice: if ever on exmouth market, don't hesitate.

Enjoy!

Probably my favorite brunch spot in London. The food at caravan is divine. The baked eggs with vegetable ragout, mint yogurt and sourdough bread is spectacular. For those with a sweet tooth, the orange infused pancakes are also delicious. This place is laid-back and unpretentious; the focus very being the food.

The interior is nothing special; the kind of industrial chic that is so common especially in east London now. I often sit outside even during winter to beat the queues for a table inside and the staff provide you with blankets. This along with a hot chocolate or coffee usually keeps me warm enough.

The staff are super friendly and efficient. I would recommend this place to everyone. Perfect for weekend brunching.

Caravan is a nice & good quality restaurant located on Exmouth Market, in Farringdon. I often go there for brunches at the weekends. The Ham Hock Hash is especially divine. Soft and filling, it is the perfect combination when associated with a fresh coffee. The staff is competent and prices are affordable. Covers provided if you want to be seated outside.

Ham hock hash... ham hock hash...
There are very little other businesses specialised in breakfast that can compete with what happens when the chef at Caravan makes his ham hock hash.....

Exmouth Market offers a variety of great food options, all to varying success. However you don't need to go anywhere else for breakfast, Caravan has everything you're looking for at 12 on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Great food in a well presented restaurant, with a urban industrial feel. Try their delicious small plates or their brunch. And don't forget to show up early at the weekend because this place gets really busy.

Read more reviews here:: http://trendyguide.wordpress.com

With wide floor to ceiling windows overlooking the food stalls of the bustling Exmouth Market, Caravan Exmouth Market is intimate and has an element of industrialism with its interesting furniture and mugs and units. The service was friendly and helpful and gave off a very trendy vibe. The menu was small but tasty and had a good range and had something to suit everyone. The coffee itself is the star of Caravan and is well worth a visit.
